I lifted myself up from the ground. Everyone expects to know where you are when you wake up. But I didn't have that.

I expected to be in my bathroom, and to know where I was, but I honestly had no clue. The walls were made of charcoal black stone. Yellow tiles made up the flooring. There was a different door stationed within every few feet in the extensive hallway. I felt a shiver run up my spine, and it told me there was something horrible lurking behind every single one. "Where am I?" I pondered, my voice echoing through the corridor.

Then I heard it -- the sound of maniacal laughter coming from across the hall. As I started to turn towards it to see just what was making the sound, I heard the sound slowly inching closer to me. I could practically hear its breath. Whatever it was. My feet acted, completely independent from my brain. The rest of me however, was frozen with terror. I soon found myself cowering behind a dilapidated, old, rustic door.

"One month, Llama."

I've heard that voice before, I realized in horror. There was no way I could forget it completely. It had been engraved into my brain.

"One month to fix your mistakes."

Even though I'd heard that voice before, every time I tried to pinpoint its origin, my head clouded up, becoming fuzzy and light. The footsteps belonging to the voice were absorbed in a brilliant white flash that illuminated the cracks in the door.

"Scary, i-isn't he?" a shaky voice yelped. "H-hi. Llama is i-it?"

I spun around, turning my attention to a whimpering man in a baby blue tuxedo. I felt myself grow agitated. "Why does everyone call me that?! My name is Pacifica!" I corrected furiously.

"I-I'm so s-sorry Pacifica." A sob was inching up his throat; he was obviously terrified.

"Um, are you okay?" I asked, feeling uncomfortable due to his outburst. "What's your name?"

He gave me a confused look while choking down his sob. "You want to know my name? No one ever wants to know my name." He looked me straight in the eyes. His frown lifted up a bit, but from the looks of it this guy hadn't smiled in close to an eternity, and he wasn't about to start now. "My name is Will, and I'm afraid I can't tell you what I'm scared of. You have to get back."

I regained consciousness to the feeling of someone prodding my face. When I opened my eyes, I found myself looking into the amber irises of Mandy.

"Ow," I coughed out. My voice sounded hoarse and dry.

Mandy watched me worriedly when I reached for the toilet to hoist myself up to my feet. "Don't look at me like that," I told her. "You know it's not your fault."

Her expression softened. "You know, Pacifica, you're a lot nicer than your pare-" A single firm glare in her direction left her stretching out that last syllable, no longer wanting to complete the sentence.

I glanced at the bathtub, which was drawn quite nicely, filled with bubbles and giving off an aroma that left me eager to dive in. "If you don't mind, can you maybe . . ." I began, whilst gesturing towards the bathroom door, signaling her to exit the room.

"Oh yes. Of course, Pacifica." She bowed her head at me, her brown bangs dipping low, then left me to myself.

I was marveling over how refreshing the bath was long after it was over. The warm bubbles in the tub made me hesitant to leave at all. Eventually, I had to, though.

I opened the red oak door leading into my room. My clothes were neatly folded on my bed with a note on it that read : Have a nice day, XXXXX Pacifica. Before my name was a word that was scribbled out. I didn't pay much attention to it, only noticing that it appeared to begin with "Lla". I enjoyed the note, happily noting that this was why Mandy was my favorite maid.

The clothes she laid out were my usual, a purple jacket on top of a lighter purple dress. I probably owned at least twenty that were completely identical to it. It didn't take a genius to tell that this was my favorite outfit.

"Pacifica!" I heard my dad call over the intercom that was wired through the entire house. "Come down here when you're ready. You're going into town with Mandy and Anastasia."

I let out a light groan. I wasn't a big fan of Anastasia, who was another maid who worked for my family. It wasn't like she was a bad person, but she just had an annoying personality.

"Now, Pacifica," my father ordered. My dad's favorite hobby had always been to rush and upset me.

I walked down the stairs to see Mandy patiently waiting while Anastasia was getting all excited about being allowed to go into town. Everyone in the manor, even me, has to have permission to leave. It wasn't often that people were granted permission either. Frankly, I couldn't blame her. I was excited too. But jeez, you could just see that woman's excitement jumping off her skin and spreading to yours like a contagion in the midst of an epidemic.

"Well," I began, addressing the two servants. "Let us go then." With that, we were out the door, and I could practically sense the limo's uncomfortable seats awaiting our arrival.
