The following morning I realized that my phone had died the previous night. After plugging it in, I hopped in the shower and got ready for work. After I grabbed my lanyard and phone, I said goodbye to my mom and daughter, then walked briskly out the door. The 10min drive was quiet, I didn't really feel like listening to music. When I arrived at the Kmart parking lot, I draped the lanyard over my neck and turned on my phone.

My heart sank to my knees as notifications began blowing up my phone. Several missed calls from Lewis, flooded my history. Text messages as well. "Are you okay? Do you need me to go over? What's happening right now!?" Were just a few of the messages I had received. My heart fluttered jovially when I realized he must've been worried.

After I got out of the car and locked it, I made my way quickly towards the store. "Morning Hannah" Marlene greeted. I gave her a weary smile as I made my way to the back of the store. My heart raced when I caught sight of a familiar figure, resting his head on the electronics counter.

"M-morning..." I managed to stammer. "Hannah!" He exclaimed when he laid eyes on me. My heart nearly exploded when he walked around the counter and wrapped his arms around me. "I was so worried..." he whispered. My face turned crimson as his warmth engulfed me. The sweet scent of his cologne surrounded me, causing my knees to buckle. After a few seconds, he tried to pull away, but a light tug made us both look down. Our lanyards had gotten tangled. "Hold still..." he said with a chuckle as he took his off and looped it through mine. After he had freed it, he draped it around his neck again.

"I'm sorry about last night, my phone died and I didn't notice till this morning..." he shook his head. "I'm just glad you're okay. I was afraid that jerk had done something terrible to you or your daughter..." he said as he rubbed the back of his neck. "No, but he did break my headset..." I muttered. "Oh really? That sucks..." I nodded. "Got any you can sell me?" I asked with a mischievous smile. "But of course! Right this way Madame!" He said in an over the top French accent as he gestured towards the back wall.

"Hmmm, which do you recommend good sir?" I asked, trying my best to sound serious. "Honestly? None" He said with a smile. I couldn't help but giggle. "But, this one here is the cheapest and it should hold you till you get an actual headset" he said as he handed me a tiny Bluetooth. "Sounds good, I'll take it!" I said as I took out my wallet and followed him back to the register.

"So, zombies again tonight?" I asked as I put the Bluetooth and receipt in my purse. "Actually, I might have plans, but I'm not sure yet..." he said as he tapped his chin with his index finger. "Oh..." I trailed off sadly as I glanced down at my feet. "Which, brings me to my next question. Are you busy after work?" My eyes widened. "M-m-me? No, I'm n-not busy, I'm never busy!" I stammered with an exaggerated grin. "Would you be down to catch a movie, with me?" He asked as he pointed to himself.

I could feel my face begin to heat up again. "Uh...s-sure! I got to ask my mom to watch my daughter, but since it's the weekend she doesn't work. I'm sure she'll say yes!" I enthused. "Which movie did you want to see?" I asked, trying to keep my pulse in check. "Well which one would you like to see?" He asked curiously. "I kind of want to see the new Paranormal Activity. I know a lot of people don't like it, but I kind of enjoy those movies..." I trailed off timidly. "Paranormal activity it is" he said with a smile as he handed me the electronics keys then began walking towards layaway. "W-wait, but I thought you said you had plans..." he turned around and continued walking backwards. "I do now..." he said with a wink as he disappeared down the aisle.

Later that day on my break, I got a message. "What time do you get out?" Lewis asked. "I'm off at 6..." I replied as I spun my lanyard on the break room table. "Well I'm off at 2 so, I'll go home and change and I'll meet you here when you're out. Sound good?" I nodded with a quick and jerky motion. "Sounds good!"

The rest of the day went by excruciatingly slow. Thankfully, I still had a spare change of clothes in my locker from the night we went to Karaoke. I had brought two pairs of clothes because I wasn't sure which to wear. After I clocked out, I ran upstairs to the employee restroom and got dressed in my checkered button-up and black jeans. After re-applying my makeup, I made my way quickly down the stairs and out to the sales floor.
