I'm in a field of dandelions
One little flower of dandelion
For each little wish of mine
Would that my dreams were thine!

Names unknown, we were born
More than half a world apart
This page of our story luck has torn
So all over again, we'll start!

Though we've met really late
'Twas clear, the hand of fate
A relation forged ere we could talk
On destiny's path, together we'll walk!

Intellect and courage, Perseverance aplenty
Wit, whimsy, pretty visage
For each word of mine, she has twenty!

Deep her thoughts, unusual her questions
Eclectic interests, favoured suggestions
Her embroidery black, but her soul is bright
Art historian by day, she's military by night!

Enormous talent, petite package
Blows of life, there is wreckage
Qualifies for Oxford, her Profs had no doubts
Am I doing enough? She has anxious bouts!

Parents, siblings, spouses or kin
Nothing matters but what's within
Whether you're called 'so perfect'
Or if they term you 'very inept'!

Stand up tall, fight for your right
The Sun needs no mirror to know it's bright
They can't affect you,
voices from yesterday
For here is a new You
much stronger today!

Gurl, do your thing, your time is now
Anything your mind wants to,
You can master the know- how
Speedier than you hope to!

Tending an optometrist's office,
Or crocheting a lace fichu
Will this one lifetime suffice
For the Taj, Far East, Machu Pichu?

Both Defence kids, you and I
We're used to being treated tough
You get me, we see eye to eye
We'll take the smooth with the rough!

So thankful am I to have you
In this tumultuous life of mine
You're my anchor, my crew, my brew
Chocolate with tea, I wished for thee
While I blew the tip of my dandelion!

Change is for the better, my sweet Tea
And Chocolate is on its way
Never lose the spark that makes you, You;
Through dark, may fireflies light your way!
