Backstory: Mariko used to be a shy girl who never talked to anyone except a boy called Tadashi Yamaguchi, they have known each other since they were 4 years old so they were extremely close. Mariko used to get bullied and Tadashi stuck up for her and protected her which also made the bullies start to bully him. One day when Tadashi was getting bullied a tall boy who had blonde hair, golden eyes and glasses saved them in his own way. Mariko, after that day, looked up to the boy who they soon found out was called Kei Tsukishima. She first found volleyball after she heard about it from Kei, she took interest in the setter and middle blocker positions but mostly setter and started to learn how to be a setter while also learning about blocking.
