Backstory: Nao's father left when she was 8 and her brother had just been born, her mother took care of them both. She worked two jobs just to pay the bills so Nao had to look after her younger brother. Sadly because of that she never had time to play with the kids outside of school hours and was isolated by her peers. Even if she tried to talk to them they would ignore her, and speak about her behind her back.

Nao, one day when she was 11, snapped at her mother for always working and never being at home, because of her she couldn't spent time with people. She was isolated because of her, even if it wasn't her fault. Her mother apologised and sadly collapsed a few days later, she had a heart attack from overworking herself. She has been in the hospital ever since, she had been too weak to leave the hospital. Nao believed it was her fault her mother had the heart attack and out of guilt was determined to look after Kaito and do anything she could without complaining.

Nao had begged her father to pay for her mothers hospital bills or to get her a job. He didn't care enough, so he said no. A few days later he sent money and told her he would pay for the pills, food and water but he expects her to pay him back in the future. When Nao was 13 her father stopped sending money so she became desperate.

Nao started to look for a way of getting money when a man, Kuroiwa Ryuusei, came up to her. He told her he knew about her mother being ill and them not having a lot of money. He had gave her some money and told her he would continue to do this and pay for her mother so she could get better if she did something for him. That's when she joined her school soccer club where she was chosen to be a member of Inazuma Japan.

• After Galaxy Kaito and Matatagi's brothers become close friends.

• After Galaxy her mother was then healthy enough to leave the hospital, since her treatment had been paid for. With the money that Kuroiwa Ryuusei gave Nao, her mother worked normally and Nao could continue playing soccer with Matatagi and the others.

• When Nao was in space Kaito stays with their next door neighbour, who pitted their situation. Nao had to lie and said she was going over seas to work.

• Nao doesn't believe that people are kind hearted enough to do something without wanting anything in return.
