Rumour: 

It's been said around the school that professor Conway is a creep who stares at girls. Everyone knows about it (except for the professors), but almost no one knows that this is just a rumour, made up by Paul, because he once saw Dawn getting a little bit more help than the rest of the students.

Prefect:

When Leaf becomes one of the prefects, Gary suddenly gets into a lot of trouble, mostly fights. Why? "That's the only way I can get your attention," he usually says, with a wink.

Birthday cake:

I don't know what happens when someone's birthday is on a day at Hogwarts, but I just thought about that everyone who is friends with the birthday girl or boy, they get a piece of cake (the favourite cake of the birthday person) at lunch or something (the rest will be organised by friends, like a surprise party or something).
And when Meadow turns 16, everyone gets really confused when Barry gets a piece of chocolate cake for lunch.

In my little universe, fourth year is when Meadow and Barry get along, but won't acknowledge it yet, fifth year is when they realise that there actually on good terms, sixth year is still not friends, but Meadow starts to get feelings (they're still in their love-hate relationship though), and somewhere in seventh year they start dating ;P
