JANKI'S POV

"Shit! Shit! I'm sorry. I'm so sorry" I panicked as I saw Rana sa standing there with his palm on his cheek.

"I'm.. I thought it's som... God! " I muttered

"Weren't you told that no one can enter here other then me" He asked

"I.. Who remembers that Rana sa. I did it in self defense" I protested standing up and removed his hand from his cheek looking, what effect my punch did.

"Punching your own husband when he didn't even do anything? " He asked while I tried to find if any injury.

"It was out of sudden touch Rana sa" I said and rubbed my hand on his cheek.

"It's okay Sunshine. I'm fine. You didn't hurt me" He spoke keeping his palm on my palm which was on his cheek.

"I might have. I was wearing these rings. What if a small cu.. " I was saying when he spoke

"Nothing happened. And always remember, no one can touch you without your permission. And this reflex action is excellent, but.. Spare me please" He said and a chuckle left my mouth.

"No one can touch me, not even you okay. I've pledged to get you angry and regret marrying me" I stated

"Like this? " He asked

"Like what" I asked back confused

"Like this" He again said pointing to my palm which was on his cheek and inturn his and palm which was on my palm

I instantly removed it turning away.

God!

"I like you blushing because of me" He spoke and my eyes grew wide.

"I didn't blush. I don't blush. What nonsense" I mumbled

"Whatever makes you sleep peacefully Raani sa. " He said and I huffed going to the walk in and sat in front of the mirror.

And he followed standing behind me.

"May I? " He asked and I looked at him from the mirror.

"What? " I questioned

"Help you, remove these" He pointed the jwellery.

"No. I'm independent. I'll manage" I stated

"Sure you will. But, I want to help" He said

"But I don't want help" I replied

"I put up with a punch too. Come on" He said and I sighed

"Fine. But you can't smirk in between. Nor you can give that sly smile which you give. " I warned

"I'm glad you notice me that much" he smirked

"See. See you're smirking" I whined when he chuckled

"Fine. I won't smirk sunshine" He assured and I pointed the hairs.

"If you tangle my hairs,I'll... Yes... I'll get you bald with a trimmer" I warned and he looked at me.

"Would you like a bald husband at such a young age" He asked

"What! No. Wait... Ugh. You can't manipulate me in this too" I said and he was about to smirk when I glared.

"Fine! " He said and I nodded

But, he removed the hair pins & jwellery with such an ease and when he was removing the chokar, the goosebumps on the back of the neck must be so evident because I could see the goosebumps rising on my arms.

What is this man doing to me!

Ugh!!

"Now.. The poshak" He asked and I glared him.

"I'll do it by myself" I said

"Of course you would. But let me just remove the safety pins which I put" He suggested

"No. I will. I'm an independent woman" I said

"Okay, independent woman, though I helped you with this dupatta draping too" He reminded

"That was because, I didn't have any option" I reasoned

"Right now too, I don't find any other option available here Sunshine" He said and I huffed

"Just that! " I muttered and he was again about to smirk when I rolled my eyes.

"Wait a Second!! What did you just do" He asked

"What! " I questioned back

"Did you just.. Roll your eyes at me Sunshine" He spoke

"Oh, I might've. So what" I sassily spoke folding my arms on my chest.

"Next time, you roll your eyes... " He was saying when I cut him off.

"I'll do What I wish. Next time, too! " I smirked and he raised a brow and then smirked finally.

"Consequences to follow up My Queen" He said removing the pins.

"I'm not your Queen" I snapped and he looked at me.

"Deny whatever you want to deny in this world Sunshine. This one truth, is non deniable and non negotiable" He said and left from there.

And I was just thinking about what he said as I changed into my night suit.

As I was about to move out from the walk in, my eyes went to the mirror and my own reflection.

The nuptial chain around my neck and the vermilion which though I put very little on other day but today it was shining.

And his words repeated in my mind.

This one truth, is non deniable and non negotiable.

Sighing, I left the room, only to find him already putting his pillow on the couch.

Am I being too harsh on him !

"Rana sa.. " I spoke and he hummed

"Why did you marry me? "I asked as I sat on the bed.

His eyes darted away from his work as he looked at me.

"Haven't I answered this question already Sunshine ? I married you because I wanted to marry you" I replied

"That's my question. Why you wanted to marry me? Why no one specific ? Why no one from Royal families ? Do we have any pasts related or connected as in books or are you taking any age old revenge from me like they show in books" I asked

"First thing, stop reading such peevish things" He said

"Each male protagonist in books have this problem of female protagonist liking such books" I snickered

"Glad to know that you in dreams too imagine me as male protagonist" He said and I looked at him realizing what I spoke.

"Wha.. No. Okay! You stop manipulating me" I whined

"I don't manipulate you Sunshine. I pay heed to every single word you speak to me" He said very sincerely

He shouldn't be like this!!!! He was good in that old self of I don't speak much. Because this, what he speaks, damn affects me!!

"Why you married me Rana sa ? Come on, I deserve to know this atleast. I'm sure it's not because you are may be what, obsessed with me or you wanted a Queen for this kingdom. You're not that twisted" I demanded and he looked at me.

"Why do we need oxygen Sunshine? " He asked

"What Rana sa. I'm so serious here and you're asking me that why we need this God damn oxygen. Fine, Because it gives us life. We're alive because we breath oxygen. Fine! Now give me my answer" I asked pissed off when he looked at me & wearing his slippers he went towards washroom.

Did he just walk over me!

"My answer Rana sa" I grumbled

"You answered it yourself right now Janki" He said and went to the washroom.

Janki!!

He said my name again that means he was serious with whatever he said.

But what did he say!!

And I looked at the door of walk in confused.

I gave the answ..

Oxygen gives us life!

Why do we need oxygen!

Why you married me!

No way!

Am I hallucinating!

As I layed down closing my eyes while thinking this, sleep overpowered me without knowing.

Next day, I woke up when the alarm rang.

And the first thing, I noticed was the empty couch.

Of course an early riser!

I did my morning chores and after bathing, got ready in an over sized T shirt and cargos I went downstairs.

Walking towards the kitchen, I found him talking to Mr. Diwaan.

As I passed by he looked at me for a second and gave me a brisk nod, before continuing whatever he was talking with Mr. Diwaan.

In these days, I've understood that his small nods which he gives means him telling me that he has recognised my presence.

And I don't know why, I felt good by it.

"Good morning everyone" I wished after joining my hands in temple.

"Good morning Janki." Mom wished as a home staff handed me my cup of tea.

"Where's Megha" I asked but an intruder jumped on me before.

"Mickey! " I giggled as he sat on my lap.

"She's a little late today" Bhabhi told

"What? She isn't ever late for her classes" I concerned

"Don't worry. I just checked on her. She was in bathroom. Will be here after minutes" Mom assured and I nodded.

And as told, Megha baisa was there in some minutes.

We all sat on the dining table when dad stopped Rana sa.

"Your seat is this one from today Rana sa" Dad spoke pointing his chair which was the head chair.

"Dad, I'm head of the state, I'm the head of the palaces, but family's head is you. So, this belongs to you. Always" He replied and I smiled at the words.

He took his seat when bhabhi tapped my shoulder.

"Huh" I mumbled

"You can ogle your husband as much as you want but breakfast table is not the place" Bhabhi teased and I looked at my plate.

"I wasn't doing it anyway" I said knowing that I was lying.

"Megha baisa, ready for sessions" I asked as we had breakfast.

"I'm tired" She whined

"Next excuse" I asked when she pouted

"No mom. Please" She whined again

"Okay! No mom and daughter card playing here huh. I'm your doctor" I stated when she huffed

"Fine. I'm ready since I've no other option" She dramatically sighed

"Drama Queen" I said and she grinned

"Will I get Brownie after I do the session" She asked and I grinned more.

"Perfect. We'll have a brownie and icecream party if you do it" I suggested

"Promise" She asked taking out her palm and I put my palm on hers kissing that.

"Promise baby" I replied

"You both are so adorable. I need to cast off nazar everyday for you too I guess" Mom said

"Well, about bhabhi sa, bhai will do the necessary like yesterday. Right Bhai sa" Yash bhaiya teased when I looked at him.

"Yash, I'm sure you don't want me to be the reason you get plastic surgery" Rana sa glared while I hid my small chuckle.

As the breakfast was done, I talked to mom and everyone in Delhi.

"Janki... Do you know this Aarav more?" Radhika asked as I was on the call.

"Whoa! Is something going on" I grinned

"Shut up. That man has sent me friend requests on every damn social site. And you know what, followed me by his public accounts too" She said

"He's fun. Don't stress he won't do wrong. And if he tries, I'll kick his ass" I told

"He's.. Cute though" She said

"Ehmm" I smirked

"Okay bye" She said as she cut the call where as I chuckled.

And then, I started with physio sessions and psychology sessions.

"So, do you think that now if anyone say you about Diplegic, what you need to do" I asked Megha

"I need to look into their eyes proudly and tell them that I'm competing with my own and I'll win" She said and I smiled

"And what else" I asked

"That, I've the world's most loving family and I need to fight for them too. I'm strong. I'm Rajput & Rajputs never quit. They fight till end in battle." She determined and I hugged her.

"I love you Sweetheart" I mumbled

"I love you more mumma" She said and a small tear left my eye as I chuckled.

"More then papa? " I asked and she looked at me and then pouted

"This isn't fair" She whined when I giggled tickling her.

"One day, I'll make you say that you love me more then your dad" I smirked

"Let's see when" A voice came and I looked behind to see Rana sa leaning on the door with his hands folded on his chest and Mickey jumping around him as he bent and picked him up.

"Soon" I said and he looked at Megha.

"Your results are out" He told and we both looked at him.

"Second in the class" He added and Megha's face fell.

"What? " I asked

"I really wanted to be the best you know" She mumbled

Naina Talwar, is that you!!

Okay, shut up Janki!!

"God, I would've had palace on head if I was second or even third. First doesn't mean the best" I said

"But, it means someone is beating me" She mumbled again when I heard footsteps approaching us and Rana sa sat on his knees reaching Megha just like I was sitting.

"I heard a minute ago, you saying that you need to compete with yourself. No one else. No doubt come first, but not thinking that someone is better then you but thinking that you need to be better version of yourself for you. This time you're second, that means you have improved something in you for sure. And you know what matters more then all of this? " He spoke looking at Megha while I was looking at him.

"What" She asked innocently

"You're winning battles in life sweetheart. You're fighting battles within yourself. You're nurturing yourself. I know you're too small to understand this all. You're just six but always remember one thing.. Will you" He asked and she nodded

"No matter first or second or third or whatever. You're always first for us" He said and she smiled nodding.

"I'm leaving. See you soon Megha" He said standing up and then looked at me.

"See you soon, Sunshine" He added and I just nodded as he left.

I looked at Megha and huffed.

"Okay I agree. Dad's best" I pouted and she giggled as I joined her.
