So this little story is based on a request I got recently to write something related to the 2022 IPL mega auction. Also I used the above song because well, it's a Mahi-Sonu story.

I swear mujhe na unn saare vrat ke baare me dhoondhna padega jisse pehle toh Mahi jaisa amazing husband aur Sonu jaisa achha dost mile 🥰 (PS: Koi farmaaish reh gayi ho toh woh add ho jaaegi baad me 😜)

Over a month had passed since the IPL mega auction and the matches were due to start in a few days.

Sonu was extremely annoyed with his best friend who had been avoiding him since the auction got over.

Sakshi had also tried to help him get in touch with her husband, but the man could be as slippery as an eel when he wanted to be.

Sonu had half a mind to lock the man in a room with him just to get him to talk.

He had a feeling that this current annoying behaviour was somehow related to him remaining unsold in the auction.

Sonu understood that there must have been a reason for it but clearly his stupid best friend felt bad about it.

He would always be Chinna Thala of CSK even if he doesn't play for them because the team and the fans were very special to him.

Just when he was planning on the best way to force his former captain into talking to him, Sonu was shocked by the news of him stepping down from captaincy.

Don't get him wrong because he was extremely happy for one of his kids to be chosen as the next leader of their team, but Sonu was angry that his best friend had not even talked to him about it.

The fact that he had to learn about something this important from the media had really ticked him off and he decided that enough was enough.

If his best friend was hell bent on being stubborn, then even Sonu could be.

On the other hand, Mahi was busy helping his kid learn about how to lead a team.

Jaddu hadn't really captained any team throughout his career so his Mahi Bhai took it upon himself to help him in any way that he could.

Mahi was also looking for a distraction because he really missed his best friend.

Ever since the auction he had felt horrible about what had happened and couldn't bring himself to even talk to his best friend.

Knowing Sonu, Mahi knew that the man would never hold anything against him, but he couldn't help feeling like it was his fault.

Mahi knew that his actions to avoid his best friend were pissing the man off, but he just couldn't talk to his Sonu after he went unsold in the mega auction.

The fact that their team didn't do too well in their first couple of matches didn't help the former captain feel any better.

Jaddu was being criticised for not being a good captain and there was nothing Mahi could do to protect his kid.

Mahi didn't talk to anyone, but he had started feeling helpless and like he was letting his loved ones down due to all the recent events.

First his best friend wasn't retained in the team and then his kid was being called a bad captain.

Mahi was just thinking about all this in his room one day when he felt a familiar touch on his shoulder.

He was shocked to see his best friend standing right next to him, looking at him with a concerned expression on his face.

Mahi tried to say something, but no sound was coming out of his mouth and Sonu just pulled him in for a hug.

The usually stoic man simply melted in the warmth of his best friend's famous bear hugs for a few moments before pulling away.

Sonu sits in front of his best friend and asks, "Kaisa hai tu?"

Mahi doesn't meet his eyes and replies, "Theek hu."

Sonu nods before picking up a pillow and starts hitting his best friend as he says, "Saale, kamine. Itne dino se phone uthaane ko nahi hua tujhe. I called you so many times and even asked Sakshi to get a hold of you, but no."

Mahi tries to protect himself from the onslaught and replies, "Sorry na. I won't do it again. I promise."

A few minutes later Sonu stopped his pillow attack and lay down next to his former captain and asks, "Now will you tell me what's wrong with you?"

Mahi stays silent until his former vice captain pinches him and lets out a high-pitched shriek of surprise.

Sonu raises an eyebrow and silently threatens his best friend with another pinch.

Mahi sighs and says, "I felt bad about what happened in the auction. I'm sorry Sonu."

Sonu sits up to smack his best friend on the head and replies, "I don't need an apology, you idiot. I want to know what's bothering you. Aur yeh captaincy chhodne se pehle bataya kyu nahi mujhe."

Mahi looks down and says, "I thought that you hate me for not retaining you in the team. Warna pakka bata deta announcement hone se pehle. I can't play forever and it's time we started looking at new captaincy options. I thought that Jaddu was a good option, but nothing is going right with the team right now."

Sonu smiles and replies, "First of all, I can never hate you. Mahi, tu mera best friend hai. Achhe dost ladaai karte hai lekin kabhi ek doosre ko hate nahi kar sakte hai. You have always supported me even when you didn't have to and you think I would have an issue with something stupid like this. I know that you just want the team to continue to succeed even after you retire and you're doing whatever is needed for that. Main current team me fit nahi ho raha that isliye mujhe retain nahi kiya. Aur jahaan tak baat captaincy ki hai toh I agree that Jaddu is a good option. He just needs to learn how not to let the pressure get to him. Uski on field performance nahi affect honi chahiye aur yehi usko seekhna hai. Afterall CSK will always need Sir Jadeja to be at his best."

Mahi says, "I just don't know how to help him. Log uss bechare ko itna criticise kar rahe hai aur main kuch nahi kar paa raha hu. I can't even protect my kid from all this negativity."

Sonu hugs his best friend again and replies, "Mahi, you are doing everything that you can. I know this, Jaddu knows this and somewhere deep inside you know it too. I promise that you are not letting anyone down."

Mahi innocently asks, "Then why does it feel like I am?"

Sonu smiles and replies, "Because you are a gem of a person. I'm proud to call you my best friend. Tune hamesha sabko protect kiya hai chaahe kuch bhi ho jaaye, especially media walo se. You can never see anyone in pain, be it physical or emotional. You guys will figure something out and I'm sure things will eventually go back to normal."

Mahi pulls away and says, "I really miss having you around. Teri yeh positivity hi chahiye hai abhi iss camp me."

Sonu replies, "Arre toh main ruk jaaunga na. Tension kyu lete ho. I might not be a CSK player this year, but I will always be CSKian at heart."

Mahi can't help but laugh as he says, "Yaar ab tu aise words invent mat kiya kar. Aur main pehle hi bol raha hu ki tu alag se room nahi lene wala. Hum sab ke saath hi rehna hai tujhe."

Sonu rolls his eyes and says, "Obviously. Maine woh stupid isolation wale rules aise hi nahi follow kiye."

Mahi smiles more brightly before pulling his best friend in for another hug, feeling extremely grateful for having found such a wonderful person.

Sonu accepts the hug feeling much better because he finally got his best friend back.

So how was this little story?

I know it's shorter than the rest, but I couldn't come up with a lot of ideas for this one
