Jumin was already sitting up and from the looks of it, Jaehee was filling him in on his current situation.

“3 months huh..” Jumin murmured.

“If you'd like, I can help out back at the office.” Jaehee offered trying to make things easier on him. Jumin only stared at his broken leg and didn’t answer. You walked over to him and stood by his side.

“Jumin?” You said as you placed a gentle hand on his shoulder making him flinch slightly then turn to look at you.

“I’m sorry, what did you say?” He asked. It looked like you took him out of deep thought.

“Jaehee offered to help out at the company while you recover and of course I’ll be there too so-”

“Yes, do you have my schedule with you right now?” You were caught off guard by the question and took a second to respond.

“Oh, I um, have it at my apartment, I can go get it if you-”

“I’ll call my driver to pick it up now, do you have my phone?” You knew he was a workaholic but this just takes the cake.

“Hey, can you not think about work for a second?” Asked Zen with his arms crossed at his chest.

“Yeah, you just got your leg broken, you should take a break.” Advised Yoosung, serving a cup of water and offering it to Jumin to try and ease his nerves.

“Don’t worry too much about work, Jaehee and I will get it covered. You should focus on healing.” You pulled up a chair and sat next to him.

“Right.” Was all he said.

“Jumin, I know this might not be the best time but…” You began and laid a hand on his. “Do you remember how the accident happened?” Jumin furrowed his eyebrow in thought.

“The only thing I can recall is that driver Kim was taking me home when all of a sudden the car swerved, making the limo flip on it’s side and from then on I blacked out.” You sighed.

Silence filled the air as everyone began to think the same thing,

Who did this?

It was getting dark and everyone was still hanging around Jumin’s hospital room and somehow, everyone got to the topic of ‘Worst Birthdays Ever’.

“And when I opened the cake box, my name was misspelled and the age they put was 36, I was turning 6.” Jaehee chuckled remembering the look on her parents faces.

“Hey at least you didn’t have to celebrate someone else's birthday the same day as yours!” Yoosung gave out a humph! With a pout.

“My parents forgot how old I was turning and bought the question mark candle.” You said proudly with a chuckle

“What about you trust fund kid?” Zen asked still chuckling at your comment. Jumin was finally cracking a smile and thought back to past birthdays.

“I do remember my parents were going to take me out for lunch but they forgot me at home.” Jumin couldn’t help but let out a small laugh remembering the times he would mention it to his father; not letting him live it down. “What about you Zen?” Zen pondered on the thought then raised his eyebrows.

“The only thing I remember is that my uncle was the person that bought me my first pack of cigars as a joke when I was like 7. Guess who banned him from family reunions later on?” Everyone started laughing thinking about how bad everyone else had it back than but now it was just a funny memory.

There was a knock at the door and that doctor Alex walked in making the laughter die down. The mood changes and everyone was alert.

“Sorry to intrude but Mr. Han has to take his medication.” He made his way in with a nurse right behind him. Everyone let out a breath or relief seeing that it wasn't more bad news.

“Well this was fun.” Yoosung said as he collected his things.

“Yeah, we haven’t been hanging out together that much anymore, so this was nice for a change.” Zen ruffled Yoosungs head like he would to a younger brother

“I should get going, my parents are visiting tomorrow morning and I need to clean my house.” Jaehee chuckled but then sighed at the thought of having to clean up everything.

“Well, this,” Zen gestured to himself. “Needs to be well kept so I'll be taking my leave.

Everyone started saying their goodbyes but you decided to stay at least until Jumin fell asleep.

You watched as they all left and now it was just you, Jumin, the doctor and the nurse.

You couldn't help but notice the nurse kept stealing a glance at Jumin even though he would only stare at his leg.

She did the normal procedure calmly and carefully, hoping Jumin would notice her. You on the other hand felt kinda bad for her seeing that Jumin wouldn't even space her a glance.

Soon enough they were done and they left the room with a final 'Goodnight’.

“They really are quite the group.” Jumin said once the door clicked shut, leaving just the two of you.

“Yeah, they really are.” You turned in his direction and watched his eyes start to droop.

“Y/n.” He began, gaining your full attention. It seemed as if he wanted to say something more but all he did was smile at you. “Thank you, for being here for me.” He pulled you in to land a sweet kiss on your forehead like he's done before but his hand fell along with his head before he could and didn't even give you a chance to answer, his eyes were closed  and you could tell he fell into a deep sleep.

You sighed and adjusted him into a more comfortable position and pulled his cover up so he wouldn’t get cold in the night. “I don’t know if you should really be thanking me…” You answered sadly. There was a buzzing noise coming from your pocket and noticed that the caller was Saeyoung. Relief flooded through your body knowing he could finally return the call.

“Hello?” You answered knowing Jumin wouldn’t be waking up anytime soon.

“Hey, Y/n.” He sounded tired and drained of all his energy.

“Are you okay?” You asked feeling worried.

“Yeah don’t worry about me. I’ll explain what happened later. Wait for me there at the hospital, I’ll pass by to pick you up in about 10 minutes.”

“Alright, see you later.” And with that you two hung up but you looked at the time on your phone.

12:08am

You turned to your bedridden friend, moved some of his hair from his face and whispered

“Happy Birthday, Jumin.”
