9:02 AM
Kathy's front yard

After that, Kathy got back to watering her plants. What she didn't know was that at the very same time, a cat was creeping around her house, stealing one of her cat toys. At least, she didn't know until...

"CRASH!" "MROW!"

9:03 AM
Kathy's storage room

Kathy raced to the source of the sound. Upon her arrival, she saw a little white cat, dressed in a... ninja suit? It was trapped under a fallen scratching post, and was trying, in a futile attempt, to escape. Kathy smiled, and lifted the scratching post.

Kathy: There you go, all nice an-

Before Kathy could finish her sentence, the cat had already bolted off, leaving her to remain crouched there, not knowing what had happened for the better or for the worse.

After she regained her senses, she quickly followed the trail of paw prints the cat had so helpfully left for her.

9:03 AM
Kathy's backyard

When she saw him (the cat), he was crouched under a hedge, playing with a baseball (that he TOTALLY did not steal from Kathy's house, y'know?). Upon seeing her, he hissed and backed away, further into the bushes. But, when he saw Kathy holding a can full of Bonito Bitz, he started inching forward. She placed it on the ground, and moved back a bit while coaxing him forward. She smiled.

Kathy (softly): I think I'll name you Whiteshadow, because you are white and was like a shadow, at least until the scratching post fell on you. (She chuckled at the last part)
Kathy: by the way, I'm Kathy.

After a good 10 minutes of coaxing, Whiteshadow finally gained enough trust in Kathy and came out of the hedge. He also, although slightly hesitantly, dropped the baseball in her hand.

Just then...

"HISS!" "SCREECH!"
