After watching this video, I’m sure that you’ve already known our topic today is about eating fast-food. Is it an interesting topic? Eating is one of the human’s activities that it is enjoyable. There are many kinds of food available to eat, no exception is fast food. Fast food is a kind of meal which is prepared or served quickly. Some people argue that by eating fast food, they may get the advantages and disadvantages. So, We should or shouldn’t eating fast food?

We have divided our presentation into 2 parts. The first one is benefits of eating fast- food. And the last one is drawback of eating fast- food. We have some handout, please take one and pass them around. We will speak for 6 minutes, if you have any question, there will be answer at the end.

Ok, what are advantages of fast- food?

Now, I will talk about some advantages.

The advantage of consuming fast foods is that it can save time. Fast foods, such as hamburger and pizza only need a short time to order. Moreover, nowadays, the restaurants which sell them can be found easily. Therefore, no matter when you are hungry, or wherever you are, there is probably at least one fast food restaurant just a short drive away.

The cost can also be one of the advantages. If you live alone, it’s often cheaper to buy a meal for one at the supermarket, where they are often on special offer, or order a takeaway. Burgers and fries from a fast food restaurant are notoriously cheap.

Another advantage of eating fast foods is that they have a good taste. For instance, snack, spaghetti and fried chicken have special flavor which make the consumers be addicted. Because in fact, such fast foods are added with additives, such as Monosodium glutamate and sodium which can improve the taste of food.

This is some benefit of fast-food. In the next time my partner will continue.

The first disadvantage of fast food is it’s health concern. Fast food are generally fatty food made with excessive oil and additives such as salt and sugar, meaning a large amount of calorie is present. When customers consumed too much fast food they might become obese and develop diseases such as diabetes, high blood pressure, strokes, and heart related symptoms due to high cholesterol from excessive fat. Customers may also consume excessive fast food because it is cheap to buy in large quantity. Also, research has been done proving it is more likely for people living near fast food branches to become obese.

Fast -food joints are also being seen as a factor that is making a number of families spend less and less time together. Family meal time is something that is considered as an opportunity for all the members to come together and share their experiences. However, the fast food centers are quickly eating into this quality time. This is especially true about youngsters for whom a fast food center is a good place to hang out with friends and peers.

Finally, the last disadvantage for fast food is the quality. As most workers in fast food branches are not professional chefs, the quality of food being made in a fast food restaurant is not at high standard. Also, since fast food are generally prepared in minimal speed for each customers, it will not undergo maximal preparation and can sometimes look unsatisfying.

In conclusion, the disadvantages of fast-food outweighs the advantages of fast food. Fast food may be convenient, cheap and have a wider variation, however these advantages can easily contradict themselves as they can encourage the customers to overeat, leading to various health problems. Also the quality of fast food may not reach the customer’s standard as they can easily be criticized. Overall, it is much healthier to eat from food made in the customer’s own kitchen as the amount of fresh meat and vegetable used are under moderation, and minimal amount of flavorings is added, providing the customer with a healthy meal rather than a greasy take away.
