Chapter 12:

Sunday Morning

The light wakes me up shone in my eyelids; I blinked them open slowly, the crust on top of my eyelids, and drool was on the corner of my mouth. I wiped the residues away with my palm, I squinted, noticing I moved closer to Olivia's back. My arm was over her stomach as she slept on her side. She slept with her mouth open. She snored but wasn't a loud one. I got a whiff of her shampoo. It smelled like mint. She was still sleeping, not realizing we were close. Or my morning wood against her butt. I slowly moved, scratched an itch on my scalp, and checked my cell for the time: 9:14 a.m. Whenever I couldn't sleep, I used to wait it out until I got tired. Forcing myself to sleep was frustrating so I would grab my boxing bag and throw some punches or drive around. The latter helped a lot last night. At least I got my eight hours. My room door opened immediately and fast. I looked up, "what the hell?" I questioned, groggy as I cleared my throat.

"Have you seen my phone?" Drew asked, his voice was scratchy and low. His brown eyes glazed and his hair was flat as he searched around my room. He cleared his throat, stumbling out, and slammed the door shut.

It's been one of our main conversations since I moved in. Olivia stirred, opening her eyes slowly, "what's going on?" She grumbled, turning over, and looked up to me. Her eyes went wider.

"Morning," I said with a small grin. She sat up, licking her lips, and looked around the room.

"Morning," she responded, coughing right after. "What time is it?"

"Almost 9:30," I told her. I stood on my feet, stretched my arms and back. Picking up my phone, I scrolled through my texts, Pat texted me to come over, ex flings begging me to come over. I deleted them. One was from my parole officer for a meeting reminder on Monday. She got out, reached down to touch her toes. I got to check out her plump ass before she went to the bathroom. Nice. Last night wasn't so bad. She tossed around sometimes but she made a cool bedmate. I slept better than any other night.

After the quiet morning, I dropped her off and headed straight to Pat's. The weather was windy but warm this Sunday morning. I wind down the window to feel the breeze as I drive along the road. I parked in front of his house. I exited my car, approaching his door, and rang his doorbell. I tucked my hands in my pockets as I waited. Today would have been a sleep in day if Insomnia reared its head. I almost pressed the doorbell again, the door swung open and Pat invited me in quickly. The living room was empty as I entered, surprised he's alone today. "Last night was insane," Pat said, locking the door.

"Very," I responded, following behind him to his room and we entered.

"Fucking cops," he shook his head as he made his way to the closet. "Good thing it didn't take a turn for the worse."

"Right."

"Besides that, there were some fine ladies all over you. You got lucky?"

"Pfft, wasn't feeling it, plus the cops came," I waved off dismissively. Olivia popped into my head, instead of sex I kept her safe, let her sleepover. Enjoyed her warm body and minty scent.

"True. You could have, though."

"Still wasn't feeling it." He grabbed his suitcase and unbuckled it, pulled the lid open and took out a zipped brown bag, and tossed it in my hands. I caught it swiftly. "This everything?"

"$2,600." We hand shook and I thanked him before leaving. He informed me he's throwing another small party tonight. It was a kickback, he asked if I was coming.

"I gotta stay clean. PO meeting Monday morning," I told him.

"It's salvia, totally legal."

"I'll see. Later, Pat."

"Stay blessed, DB." He shut the door, as I was leaving I kicked a rock out of my way before entering my car.
