Bad luck seemed to be attached like a leech to Deandra Withers, nothing ever went good for the woman. It was as if bad luck was etched into her bones, maybe it just ran in the family, she wasn't sure.

From what Deandra could remember, her only happy memory was finally being able to buy her favourite book series, Harry Potter when she was twelve, She was now nineteen.

Her mother was a barista at 'Meg's Cafe'. And her father was unemployed, well, that was before her mother died in a car accident and her father gave her up for adoption. Deandra still blames Arthur, the father, for her mothers death. If he just controlled his urges and kept it in his pants until mother got back home, she wouldn't have left him and gotten into the accident.

Unfortunately, Arthur -Deandra refuses to call the horrid man her father- blamed his only daughter for the accident. He never gave the reason why he blamed her, so Deandra guessed he just didn't want to blame himself.

As the weeks progressed, Arthur became more violent towards Deandra, leaving her with more scars and bruises the next day. This continued on for two years, until Arthur decided to get rid of Deandra when she was 10 years old and left her on the door step of an orphanage four hours away, with nothing but a bag of clothes and a teddy bear. She hasn't seen or heard from him since, she was glad she hadn't, Deandra hated him with a burning passion.

-June 11th 2016-

The woman sighed as she caught a glimpse of her reflection in the mirror, dark brown hair and pale skin along with dull grey eyes. Today was the day she left the orphanage, it was her nineteenth birthday, she was an adult now. This terrified Deandra, she wasn't ready to grow up.

Deandra had been saving up money since the day she got here, it was a piece of advice she had gotten from one of the maids, orphans rarely got money so she would have to start young if she wanted to survive after leaving.

She was supposed to leave last year but she didn't have enough money, she had literally begged the matron to let her stay another year to get enough money for an apartment somewhere.

Tugging the small suitcase behind her she stepped into the main lobby, bidding her goodbyes to the workers. It wasn't very emotional, Deandra was never close with anyone there anyway.

The cold, bitter air pierced her skin as she walked down the almost empty streets of LA. It was unusual seeing the streets that were usually so full of life, well it was 6:45 am in the morning.

"What to do now.." Deandra quietly muttered to herself.

She decided she would just stay in a hotel for now, and then go exploring. She hadn't seen much of LA, she wasn't allowed the orphanage unless it was for school or the shops for groceries.

Deandra turned onto a new street and was met by lots of noise and a lot of people. "Ah, here they are." She muttered and pushed her way through the crowd.
