Carried through the sky Lineir groaned. How was it he always managed to get in trouble with dragon descendants??! He had no Qi to do any sort of actual cultivator technique, indeed if he hadn't had the black blade he probably wouldn't have even been able to penetrate the dragon's scales to get a grip!

Infuriated by his interference the dragon pinwheeled wildly through the sky but Lineir hung on with a deathgrip as he really had no desire to fall into the ice again! Additionally, the current position he was in was actually the best. In between the dragon's wings, the dragon could neither claw him, nor utilize its breath attack. If he let go, he would be at its mercy while falling and on the ground! Thus he had no choice but to grimly hold on for dear life.

"You damn fat lizard! I was minding my own business, not even hunting you for your cores! And how do you repay me for my generosity? Try to eat my friend, use up all my Qi in this incredibly terrifying Danger Zone, and force me to kill you. You think I'm going to let go first? Or will you slowly bleed out one drop at a time huh???" Lineir gnashed his teeth his usual cold composure gone. His speech started to make no sense though it wasn't because of Madness. He didn't have enough Qi for that. He was simply babbling from sheer frustration! Obviously the Drakewraith would not die no matter how long he held on. As a magical beast short of an equally potent magical infection or ailment, it could lose a few dribbles of blood from an outer scale for the rest of its life and never suffer any ill effects, after all it was over a hundred meters long! Meanwhile the Drakewraith was growing equally frustrated, how long was this human going to bury that incredibly painful blade in its back? The exact spot Lineir was in, while too shallow a wound to be fatal without Qi, was particularly painful. As the joint where the two wings connected to the back, every movement of its wings or legs caused the muscle to move! Thus no matter what maneuver the drake did, it only brought it more pain!

GRAAAAAAAWWWWRRR!!

Incredibly frustrated the drake hardened its resolve! In its mind, though logically right now Lineir was not a threat, it was absolutely intolerable that he be allowed on its back a minute longer!

WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSH!!

With a look of sheer determination, the drake angled its head straight up and accelerated roaring all the while! Lineir found himself shooting straight into the "sky" of the Tundra. Up above the revolving Arctic Yin Yang Icefire twinkled gently, a giant ball of flaming ice!

WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSHH!!!

Lineir's eyelashes began to frost over as he approached this fake "sun" and when he blinked little slivers of ice shattered and instantly were swept away by the intense wind! The dragon's scales grew icy and slippery as well but fortunately that didn't impact him at all as the black blade was already lodged deep inside! If he had to use his hands to hold on he probably would have long since fallen off. He reached a height where it was so cold that even if he had the Qi his Phoenix Flame Qi wings would likely have not been able to ignite!

"What are you trying to DO?" Lineir murmured tiredly to no response against the drake's back. It had long since stopped trying to shake him off and for some reason was singlemindedly flying straight up! If this continued... "Are you aiming for...the Iceflame?"

The drake did not answer and instead continued to fly straight up though its wingbeats grew laborious and tired. A lesser beast would have long since given in but its bloodline allowed it unusual stamina and resistance to the cold. They closed in on the Arctic Iceflame, which was radiating intense cold, with incredible speed. Suddenly Lineir realized the beast's intention!

"SNEAKY BASTARD! You're gunna use the Iceflame to rub me off!" He instantly knew that his guess was correct and was then faced with a difficult dilemma and only seconds to solve it! Do I let go....or take my chances with the Iceflame." On one hand, I'll be harassed by the drake all the way down and I won't even be able to use my Phoenix Flame Qi wings to avoid. On the other...that Arctic Iceflame is incredibly powerful. Touching it directly...the consequences could be disastrous, my mastery of fire probably isn't strong enough to trifle with it and I have zero attainments in the Laws of ice. Shoot do I have to let go?

The clock ticking most cultivators would have picked one or the other. It was a do or die situation but Lineir was not an ordinary cultivator. One of the strangest things about cultivating the Nine Paths of Asura, one was never constrained to a binary decision tree! Lineir had the freedom to see the chains binding his destiny and to pick a different path! His eyes still slightly colored red, he instantly decided that if A and B were no good then he would pick C!

As they neared he did not let go! The beast roared its brain sensing that its plan was nearing completion! Flapping its spent wings it did one last ferocious surge and bucked its back upward, inverting in the air, the sudden change thrusting its back against the Iceflame like a whale flipping upside down to rub barnacles off on a boat!

If Lineir was in any position to see the Drakewraith's mouth right now he was sure it would be stretched wide into a reptilian smirk right now! Any second now the drake was anticipating that Lineir would be smushed against the Iceflame and it knew for sure that this dumb human would not have the cold resistance to survive such an encounter! It only dared to get so close due to its bloodline and the numerous years it had spent cultivating near the Iceflame. To be honest it was practically part Iceflame with the amount of Qi it had absorbed! Naturally it could come close to it! However even with its resistance and tolerance at astronomical levels, it still didn't dare to actually the Iceflame. Honking victoriously it crowed its successful revenge scheme

HONG!!! HONG HOOONG!!
However...just as it inverted perfectly and it was about to toss the human off completely, the weight left a little early...and to make it even odder, the drake felt a strong force pressing down on its shoulderblades causing it to cry out in pain. Startled the drake twisted its sinuous neck back to see Lineir launching himself off willingly from its back, his feet having reactivated the Midnight Armor, the black haze allowing him to blast off...straight in the direction of the Iceflame!

HOOOO-????

Midcry the drake was cut off as it was actually shoved back a little bit by the force of Lineir's explosive launch! If a bird was able to fly high enough to see this strange scene, it would hypothetically see two huge drake eyes widening from their usual reptilian slits to become huge full round moons in shock.

"I can't let go....but I also can't strike the Arctic Iceflame with my body...but the black blade has never failed me!" Lifting the sword in question straight into the sky Lineir soared into the Arctic Yin Yang Iceflame...and stabbed in!

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!!!!
