Kai’s POV

“Blue, with a touch of light blue and a dazzel of dark blue” I rolled my eyes and groaned at Jay's try-hard joke. Everyone else followed suit except for Nya, she was laughing to herself.

I looked up to the sound of the bell ringing and saw everyone start to move to their first lesson. I checked what my next class was and vacated to the PE area, alongside Jay, Zane, Cole and Lloyd.

“Hey guys? I'm kinda having second thoughts on this whole ‘talking to Sensi Wu’ thing” Jay broke the silence as we walked to our lesson and stared at the floor.

“Why?” Cole asked giving him a confused look.

“I don't know, it's just…. What if…… What if he like sells us to a circus or something?” Jay answered and continued to look at the floor. I couldn't tell if he was making a joke or not but he did look genuinely concerned and almost scared.

“Well if he does, then we can just say it's a dare or something, I mean, he might think we are just trying to make fun of his prothesis and worst case scenario he’ll give us a detention” I answered with a shrug.

“Even more reason not to tell him. I don't know about you Kai, but I have a perfect record with no absences and no detentions” Jay continued to protest.

“Look we'll just say that you had nothing to do with it OK?” Lloyd answered looking really fed up.

“Fine, but if it goes pear shaped then I get to….to…..um….. I get to use you as guinea pigs for my new Inventions.” He finished and smirked.

“Fine” Everyone apart from Jay groaned.

Normally I would be excited for PE, but because today was our first lesson, we did nothing except go through the rules and regulations of how to behave and have good sportsmanship. It was so boring, and apparently, I wasn't the only one who thought so.

“Sleeping would be way more proactive than this” Cole whispered to us.

Zane looked at him confused.

“I don't understand, sleeping is the body's way of regenerating, you’re at your least active stage wh-” Zane began but was cut off by Cole.

“It was a joke Zane!” He low-key shouted.

“I still don't understand” Zane said to himself.

~~~TIME SKIP~~~

By the time school was over, I was more than ready to go home and relax and do absolutely NOTHING! Unfortunately my busy schedule of doing nothing was cut short by waiting for Nya to come to the front of the school so we could walk back together. I checked my phone for any missed calls or messages but there was nothing. I sighed and leaned the back of my head against the school wall.

The big clock on the face of the church that was opposite the school read 3:25. Class was dismissed 15 minutes ago, where is Nya? What if something happened to her? I started to panic until I felt my pocket vibrate, alerting me that I have a text.

Hey big bro, my new friend is coming round to work on our project so we had to leave without u, see u at home. Luv Ya!!!

I gave my phone a evil look and rolled my eyes.

“Thanks for telling me Nya” I said to myself and started to trudge drown the road. A few blocks later I arrived our apartment and made my way over to the lift. Pushing the button I read which floor the lift was currently at. It read 53.

“You've got to be kidding me” I groaned under my breath.

Mine and Nyas apartment is on the 33 floor and even from here to there the slow lift takes 5 minutes to make the journey, i would hate to see how long it takes for the lift to get from the top floor to the bottom.

As the two doors lowly creaked open, I step inside and push my allocated floor. There was a jolt as the lift starts its journey to the thirty third floor. I received the uneasy feeling I always got when I go on lifts so I started counting down from 100, it normally gets my mind of my fear. The lift came to a stop and the two big doors creaked open to reveal the hallway of the 33 floor. Even before I got to our door, I could hear loud laughter and muffled voices of two girls. I instantly recognised Nyas laugh, but the other one remained a mystery, but it did somehow sound familiar.

I hesitantly reached for the handle and opened the door just enough to poke my head around the door to see inside. It looked empty, too empty. And the laughter has stopped so it's also quiet as well.

“Nya? Nya! I'm home!” I shouted, but was answered by complete silence.

“BOO!”

“Ahhhh” I yelped and turned to see Nya laughing her head off.

“Your face!” she said between laughing fits.

“Ha. Ha, very funny” I grumbled sarcastically. “So who's your friend?” I asked, eager to change the subject.

“Oh, yes! Kai, meet Skylor, Skylor meet Kai” Nya stopped laughing enough to introduce us.

The red headed girl stepped out into the light of our kitchen. She extended her hand expecting me to shake it. I did, never breaking eye contact.

“Hi I'm Skylor! You must be new as well because I haven't seen you before” She smiled innocently.

What? Had she forgotten that i freaking SAVED HER LIFE?! Why is she pretending that we have never seen each other before?

“Err- right we’ve never seen each other before” I answered slowly. Playing along with her game.

Nya just looked between us with a confused look on her face. She rolled her eyes and grabbed Skylors wrist.

“Anyway, me and Skylor are working on a really important project for school, so we better go finish that.” She said pulling Skylor away. But before she vanished into Nyas room she mouthed the words 'thank you’ and left me alone in our kitchen.

I stood there, unable to make any sense of what just happened. I mentally shrugged and headed for my room to finish my algebra homework.

It took me a whole hour to complete it. I think my maths teacher hates teenagers, actually I think she hates anyone. I leaned over to my bedside table to take a slip of my water but ended up knocking it over. I groaned and moved into the kitchen to grab a cloth. However, as I opened my bedroom door I heard muffled sobs coming from outside of our apartment door.

Creeping closer, I opened it quietly to reveal a girl. Her knees were brought up to her chest and her head was buried inside them. Her arms hugged her legs and she shook slightly because of her sobs.

“Skylor?” As asked quietly.

She stopped shaking and took a deep breath before looking up at me and smiled slightly.

“Oh, um….. h-hey Kai” she said then looked away and whipped away her years.

“Why are you crying?”

“Why do you care?” She answered still looking away from me.

I sighed and sat opposite her and adopted a worried expression on my face. She pushed her two lips together so they created a thin line a turned her head to face me. Her eyes were bloodshot and her hair was really messy, but she still managed to look beautiful.

“So, are you going to tell me what's wrong?” I asked.

She shook her head.

“Do you want to talk about it?”

Another shake of her head.

“Isn't Nya going to get worried?”

There was a long silence before she answered.

“No, I told her I was gonna go get a take out for us”

“Well what gonna happen when you come back inside without any takeout?”

“I don't know, I'll just tell her that the shop was closed." She paused "Look why are you even here?”

“I don't know, I guess I just think that whatever’s happened, doesn't deserve your tears” I said, causing her to blush a bit. She looks cute when she blushes. Her expression changed from slightly happy, back to sad. I could tell the tears were about to come about again. I shuffled over to her side of the corridor and put my arm around her. As her first rear fell, I used my thumb to gently wipe it away. I hesitated a bit, then moved my hand so it hooked in her chin and raised her head so her big hazel eyes were looking into my brown ones.

“Whatever's happening, I know you can get through it” I said nearly as a whisper.

"But how do you know that?" She answered just as quietly.

"Because someone like you can get through anything."

I started to slowly lean towards her and she did the same until-

“Hey guys what are you doing out here?” Nya said opening the door of our apartment. Me and Skylor both jumped away from each other just as Nya stepped out. Luckily she didn't see anything. If only she came out a minuets later, I would have gotten the kiss. But it was too late.

“Nothing!” We both shouted at the same time.

“Oooooook?” Nya said dragging out the letter 'o’. She gave us a puzzled look and raised an eyebrow at me. There was an awkward silence for 10 seconds until Skylor broke the silence.

“Well, uh- I have to er, go. Home”

“Oh, ok, well, when do you wanna work on our project?” Nya asked looking kinda disappointed.

“Um… study hall tomorrow?” Skylor answered

“Sure, see you tomorrow”

“Bye!” Skylor said and hurried to the elevator.

Nya looked really confused, I actually felt sorry for her. She swung around and was about to say something but I cut her off by yawning really loudly and saying:

“I'm gonna go get some sleep, I'm so tired, night Nya” I said quickly and ran off into my room and shut the door. I felt kinda bad for ignoring Nya but if I stayed in that hallway, she would bombard me with question. Question of which I didnt wan to answer.

Oh. My. God. I nearly kissed Skylor. What was I thinking? She proberly doesn't even like me. But then why did she lean in when you did? I need to stop thinking of this. I need to sleep. But how am I supposed to do that? I guess I will find a way....
