Jays's POV

Last week, pretty much right when I found out Ma and Pa would like to meet Kai and Nya, I immediately called them and they both had agreed to have diner. Today was the day my parents were going to meet them both, and I'm both excited and nervous.

My parents had wanted everyone to dress their best, so I just HAD to wear a tux. Great. But thinking about dressing up nice mean that Nya could be wearing a dress... That would be a dream.

"Jay, sweetie! Come down to the kitchen I think I see a car pulling in!" I heard Ma yelled from across the whole trailer. I looked at myself on the mirror one more time, the blue tux is really making my eyes pop out more than it should. I was about to spray some perfume, or men's cologne, but I pulled my hand back from the bottle. Nya's allergic. And Kai would kill me if she got a reaction.

I ran down to the kitchen and right when I got there the doorbell rang. I made sure I was the one to open the door, so then that way my parents would see me as a gentlemen and so I didn't get scolded later in the night.

I opened the door and my jaw dropped, Nya was in a off the shoulder marron dress, her sleeves going down to her wrist and a skirt just barely stopping at her knees.  She had her hair half up half down with a little hair tie sticking out. She was absolutely stunning.

And Kai was in a nice red button up shirt and some dress pants, nothing too fancy. I welcomed them in, giving Nya a tight hug and shaking Kai's hand afterwards. I coughed, "Kai, Nya, these are my parents."

Ma was in a brown pants suit and pa was in a green sweater, "It's nice to meet you Mr. and Mrs. Walker." Nya greeted shaking my parents hand as well as Kai.

"Oh please, call me Edna."

"Please come sit, diner should be ready very soon. It's some lasagna and garlic bread." My pa announced, pulling out a chair for his wife.

I took Nya's hand and pulled out her chair for her and she kindly kissed my cheek in thanks. I sat next to her, and Kai sat on the other side of the table.

"So Kai, since Jay was accepted in the internship what exactly will he be able to do in your squadron?" Ma asked him, I'm slightly curious why she's asking the questions for my job, but I'll go off later I guess.

"Well my squad is more in the higher cases as interns, so we'll be working on crime cases. Most likely the aftermath, but if an emergency happens and we just happens to be near we go straight into action." Kai replied, taking a sip of his water.

Ma smiled at the response, "Well that sounds exciting, doesn't it sweetheart!"

"Yes Edna dearie! Very interesting." Pa responded, taking out the bread from the over in the kitchen.

"And what about you, Nya dear, do you work?"

Kai was about to respond but Nya quickly interrupted him before he even said a word, "I actually work in an autobody shop, I'm an mechanic there. I work on cars and truck of all kinds, been working there for a couple years now." She smiled, I could tell that she felt like she could breathe and relieve herself from the secret she had kept from Kai.

"Cool, is that the one Jay had gotten a job from too?" Ed asked, looking pretty happy at the response given to him. He placed down some plates for all of us and gave us our food and some utensils.

Nya nodded, taking a bit of the lasagna, "This is delicious, thank you so much for having us by the way. We've really been wanting to meet you for some time." The ocean eyed girl said with a smile on her face as she dug into her food.

I smile to myself, she seems comfortable. That's what he had wanted for her, so he was really happy that she was enjoying her time here. "As have we, dear. Please tell us a little more about yourself. We would love to hear some more things about you two."

Kai shook his head, "Our lives aren't really that interesting other than our jobs." He admitted to the spouses.

Ed nodded in a understanding matter, "Really? I thought you two have been through a rollar coaster with all the trial stuff going on with that Morro kid-"

"Dad, lets not bring that up please." I cut him off. I could tell just from Nya's expression that she was a little unsafe with that statement.

"A-a well that is a silent matter of issue at the moment, so the police station can't really say that much about the situation."

"Well what do your parents do? We would sure love to have met them too-"

"They're dead."

I looked over to Nya, practically on the verge of tears. Her parents were a sensitive topic for both her and Kai, they couldn't even tell me the full story of what happened to them.

Ma gave a guilty look, "oh, dear. I'm so sorry for your lost. I didn't mean to bring that up."

Nya shook her head, "No it's quite alright. We don't really tell many people about our family life." She told them, instantly forgiving them both.

I grabbed the raven's hand under the table and held it tightly in mine, giving is a reassuring squeeze. "They passed a long time ago, so I don't really remember them very well. But my father was a detective at the station Kai and Jay works at. Our mother was going into the medical field, she was still in school to get her doctrine degree in one of the top medical schools in all of Ninjago." Nya explained with a smile on her face, vaguely remembering what Kai has told her from when they were little.

"They sound like they were great people to have around." Edna said.

Kai nodded wiping away a single tear from his cheek, "Yeah, they really were."

"I had heard that you and Jay have been very close! From being all gushie and doing lovey douby stuff with each other, it's so adorable!" Ma exclaimed, making both Nya and I blush like tomatoes.

Kai on the other hand was a pale white, from his tan skin, almost looking like he had seen a ghost, "May I use your restroom please?" He asked. Ed nodded and Kai ran to the nearest, and only bathroom in the whole trailer.

Ma looked at me confused, "Did I say something wrong?"

Nya giggled a little and smiled at the old couple, "No, he's just very overprotective of such subjects. Whenever I had crushes in kindergarten he freaked out and made she I wasn't anywhere near a boy."

The rest of the night went great. After Kai came back from the bathroom, everyone got along. We talked about everything and no one was offended or anything! Soon enough, the night was over and I had to escort the siblings back to their car. My parents said their farewells and Kai got in the drivers seat.

Before Nya got in the car, she pulled me into a deep kiss. Not caring that her brother was right next to us. I pulled her closer to me, wrapping my arms arounf her small waist, and her hands going to my hair. Her lipstick started to smear all over us until Kai honked his horn.

"Yo lovebirds! I gotta drive home! Do that when you're married!"

We pulled away from our kiss and say our goodbyes, still trying to wipe all the lipstick off from my face. I watch their car leave the junkyard and I smiled to myself. I walked back up the patio and faced my parents.

I gave them a shy smile, "S-So what did you think?" I asked them cautiously.

My parents gave each other a look and pa patted my shoulder, "If you don't marry her, you're going to regret everything in life. We like them. Bring Nya by more, she such a joy to be around."

I laughed with them and we went back intoo our trailer. I was nervous that they weren't going to accept Kai and Nya, but I'm so happy that they want to see them for often. Maybe I can sleep easy for once.

Ding!

Or will I?
