So yeah, this story takes place in between seasons 6-7. I decided to do my own take on the idea now that I'm doing these character chapters.

Third POV

Jay looked at the mansion with a trembling breath. Even the doorbell by the large gate was making him anxious. He couldn't bear to hear its sound again.

Suddenly, he felt a soft squeeze on his trembling hand.

"Are you going to be okay?" his girlfriend's sweet voice said.

It felt a little weird, being so close together again. Not that he minded, he had bigger things to worry about.

With his free hand, he pressed the doorbell. "No, no, it's fine... I'm just a little nervous."

"Couldn't notice," she said with a smirk, making him chuckle.

Once he heard the front door open though, he froze. Noticing this, she squeezed his hand again.

There he was, the figure that was approaching them, talking to his phone and holding coffee in his hand.

His hands started fidgeting as he watched him get closer but he didn't seem to notice them at first. Once he did though, his eyes widened.

"I'll call you back..." he spoke to the phone and turned it off immediately.

Opening the gate for them, he didn't say anything. He just stared at the two.

"Hi dad..." Jay waved with a nervous laugh. "Or, um... Mr. Gordon, I meant."

His lips were quick to shift into a smile. "Please, make yourselves at home."

As they walked in, it felt... strange. Though they had both been there before, it was scary just how different the place seemed. Sure, the garden, the gate, and even what they could see inside were still the same, but they were still somehow different. Maybe it was the atmosphere, the place felt livelier than ever.

When they went inside, their theory was proven true. Everything was the same as last time. Even that huge statue of Fritz Donnegan was still standing tall in the living room.

Not saying another word, they both sat down, waiting for him to talk first.

"So, I guess you found out," he said, sitting down on the loveseat next to them. "Who told you?"

"My... parents."

His eyes widened, raising a brow. "I didn't expect that, to be honest. I thought some paparazzi would have figured it out right now."

"What do you mean 'figured it out'?" he said.

"I mean, think about it! Ninjago's biggest celebrity, whose wife was the Master of Lighting has a secret Ninja son nobody knows about. That would have been the biggest scandal of the decade, now that I think about it," he laughed, wrapping his arm around Jay's shoulder.

After minutes of silence, Nya decided to speak up. "Do you think this is just some of your celebrity drama?" she looked at him dead in the eye. "He's your son, maybe you should try being a little more humble."

They both turned their heads towards her. Cliff looked at her and smiled. "You're that Water Ninja, aren't you? I remember your crazy love drama being in every magazine."

She was about to say something, but he stopped her once realization hit him. "You're Ray and Maya's daughter, aren't you?" he said, almost letting out a gasp. "Yes, it's obvious, you're a spitting image of Maya. From the hair, to the lips..."

She finally made her move and glared at him. "Can't forget about the attitude... How are they doing anyways?"

She only shook her head and sighed.

"Let's not talk about that right now," Jay interrupted them both with a nervous smile.

"I just asked about some old friends—" before he could finish, his phone rang again. "I'll have to take this, excuse me for a minute or two." And with that, he left the room in a hurry.

Jay looked at his girlfriend with a frown. She scooted closer to him, resting her head on his shoulder.

"No offence, but I prefer Ed."

"Me too," he mumbled. "But I'm sure he cares at least a little. Why would he have my photos on his desk if he didn't?"

"Next to that stupid advice book?"

"I mean, my biological mom fell for him because of that book..."

"Jay, your mom was practically a Ninja model. Of course that cliché stuff would work on her."

He thought for a bit, then gave her a sheepish smile. "Well it's good to see I'm keeping the tradition of dating models alive," he said.

She stared at him for a while, then they both burst out laughing. "You're such a nerd," she said, giving him a peck on the cheek. "Gosh, I've missed your jokes."

He only blushed and nodded, returning the favour by giving her a quick kiss on the lips.

"Now that's something I need to know about," a voice said behind them. They both jumped up in surprise. "Considering the sight I saw on TV some time ago, I wouldn't consider my book a complete failure," Cliff winked at the two, who only blushed and lowered their heads.

Seeing them still being quiet, he continued talking on his own. "You know, we all always said that we'd organize play dates for our future kids. We wanted to get you guys close, but not quite this close," he grinned.

Nya was the one who decided to break the silence this time. "When you were referring to Jay's mom, you said 'was'. Where is she?" Her boyfriend looked at her wide-eyed, like she had been reading his mind the entire time.

For the first time since they arrived, his face fell. He started rubbing his chin, sighing. He finally turned to them. "Well, after you were born, your mother and I had some... disagreements about our future. Don't get me wrong, I've always wanted kids, just not in this life."

They both looked at him confused. "I'm a really busy person, you know that. I couldn't have possibly been a good father back then. Not that I am now..." he mumbled the last sentence under his breath. "So one day she took you in her arms and just... left. She said she was going on a mission somewhere, but I've never seen her since."

Just hearing these words made Jay's heart sink. "Oh..." he said with a shaky breath, tears welling up in his eyes.

"But I couldn't be prouder than you son," he said, placing his hand on his shoulder. "Whoever these strangers were, they raised you well."

He wiped a tear from his cheek. "They did."

Cliff stood up with a smile. "I have this upcoming movie premiere if the Ninjas want to come. And I know how much you love Starfarer," he winked.

"Yeah, I guess I admired you from afar too in some way..." he said. "But... I'd rather not." His answer surprised everyone, leaving them speechless. "The rest of the team doesn't really know about all this, and I'd like to keep it that way."

Nya smiled, giving him a hug.

"It's okay, I understand... Maybe you'd like to invite your parents over for dinner then? I'd love to meet them. Nya can come along too if she doesn't already hate me."

They both laughed, but Jay was quick to pull him into a hug. "I'd like that." And with that, he stood still with a smile, appreciating every moment of his—biological—father's embrace.

Sorry if this was a bit rushed!

C ya!
