Ed Delahanty was one of the most famous and successful Baseball Players of the 19th and early 20th century. Born on October 30th 1867, he was a Baseball Champion with 1,464 home runs, 346 batting averages, and 2,596 hits. He was nicknamed "Big Ed" for his famous legacy.

But unlike any other Baseball Player who ever lived, Ed Delahanty's life was cut really short at the Age of 35.......... On This Day 119 Years Ago, On July 2nd 1903, Ed Delahanty experienced one of the most HORRIFYING deaths in The HISTORY Of Baseball..........

In 1903, Ed Delahanty was at the very top of his Game, but on May 21st 1903, something happened to Ed Delahanty that changed his life forever..........

On that day, he Injured the ligaments in his right knee and missed his First Ever Game. Ed Delahanty was extremely upset about this and did not want to miss another Game for the rest of his life, so he headed to Mount Clemens in Michigan, where he attempted to use one of the city's mineral baths to recover quicker, but his knee barely felt better afterwards. Ed Delahanty hit his Final Home Run on May 29th 1903, and for the entire month of June, his Playing was getting worse and worse due to his injured knee still healing. He participated in his final Major League Game on June 25th 1903 and his team lost 4-0.

Ed Delahanty was extremely upset with himself and how his Knee just wouldn't Heal and how his Legacy was going in a downward spiral. For the last week of his life, he was becoming more and more desperate to get back on top. He started drinking alcohol way more than he usually did, and became sick on June 27th where he was Confined to his hotel room and missed ANOTHER Game against Cleveland. Ed Delahanty started to become much more hopeless and started drinking even more. Even when he had to drive to Detroit that Day to see his Wife. On June 30th, he started talking about killing himself and he even chased a teammate named Watty Lee out of his hotel room WITH A KNIFE.

On July 1st 1903, Ed Delahanty had to leave Detroit on a Train heading to New York for his next Game. He wrote many things during his Train ride that day including a newspaper article, and a note hoping The Train would RUN OFF THE TRACK or something else would happen to him that ended in DEATH. The last thing that Ed Delahanty ever told his Wife was to meet him in Washington. The next day was the last day of his Life. July 2nd 1903. Ed Delahanty was now feeling the most Hopeless he ever felt in his life. He was sure that his career and even his life was basically over. He went to the bar on the Train and consumed 5 whiskies. At that point, he became unmanageable and started to ALARM and THREATEN his Fellow Passengers with and even the Train Conductor WITH A RAZOR.
The Train Conductor had enough with Ed Delahanty's disgusting behavior and Kicked him off the Train at Fort Erie, Niagara Falls. A place I've been to a few times. The last thing the Train Conductor ever told Ed Delahanty was to not make trouble in Canada, to which Ed replied with : "I don't give a shit whether I'm in Canada or Hell.".

On this day, 119 years ago, on the night of July 2nd 1903, Ed Delahanty began to walk across The International Bridge To Buffalo, in order to get to the Train station there to get to Washington and meet up with his Wife. And that's when he encountered the final person in his life.......... 65 year old watchman, Sam Kingston who questioned who he was and what he was doing on a Railway Bridge at night. And then he simply flashed his lantern at Ed Delahanty to have a look at who was the person on his Bridge, but this startled and ENRAGED the drunken Baseball Player causing him to TACKLE Sam Kingston and fearing he would tackle or even KILL him, Ed Delahanty, hardly knowing where he was going, ran into The Niagara River and was SWEPT over Niagara Falls.......... His mangled naked body was found 2 Weeks Later..........

To this day, 119 years later, The Story Of Ed Delahanty remains as one of the biggest tragedies in Baseball History.......... Imagine having a very successful and amazing life only for it to suddenly go down in an endless downward spiral and end very shortly..........

The end..........
