All Was Well / It All Ends

The best and most difficult part about finishing a long book series is reaching The End. Feeling those final few pages between your fingers is simultaneously excruciating and perfect (oxymoron vocab lesson: bittersweet). Fandom has expressed these rampant emotions through the creation of memes and shared experiences.

The lines "All Was Well" and "Always" resonate with us far beyond their place within the story, because they represent our own personal journeys with the book. How we are willing to let the wizarding world go because we will never ever forget what it meant to us. Of course, we want more. Are you kidding? Double dessert, please! And yet, on the inside, we know there's something pure and valuable in that warm, Goldilocks-and-the-just-right-bed feeling.

It's over. We're sad. But we're also grateful and left satisfied.

Whole.

Complete.

This was reinforced through advertisements of the final movie that we all knew was coming after we closed the book on HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS. Especially when they extended it to a double feature, drawing out those emotions even further.

Every poster was plastered with the words "It All Ends".

The fans were left with a perfect sense of security.

The books: done.

The movies: done.

It all ended. And all was well.

After all this time...you, wizarding world, will have my heart, always.
