I breathed deeply, as I was informed to come in the meeting room. It was very rare that our head, the director talked to us. That too individually.

I have been an Agent since I was 21 years old. Now I am 25. So after 4 years of service and knowledge, I dreaded this call.

We were around 9 agents, from all over the northern and western suburbs. We were CBI but undercover. Like the officials we weren't allowed to show off our badges to everyone.

Since the start we were given a partner, as they were only 9, and the director hadn't partnered me. So I worked alone. And I guess, I like that way better. No intereference, no discussions. Just instincts.

"Good morning, Sir." I said as I entered the black room with led white lights.

"Agent R. We are glad you are on time." The director said as he stood with the chief of our department.

You see the ranking was something like-
First the director,
Then chief
And then we all.

We were also given ranks but they weren't disclosed. To anyone.

I nodded at his comment. I am only very very few times late.

"So why am I here Sir?" I ask quiet bluntly. I am scared shit.

"Agent, we called you here to finally give you something which we didn't."

"A pay rise?"

"No." The chief said as he chuckled.

"Oh. Okay. Then?"

"A partner." The director spoke seriously.

"Wait, what if I don't want a partner? D-head I am completely capable alone. Please let me work alone, I haven't-" I started.

"No. Thats my order and you agent have to agree to it."

"Whose my partner?" I ask completely pissed off.

I wanted to maintain my 100% success ratio but now with I don't know what partner of mine. I don't think I would be able to do that.

"Laksh Singhania." I heard a completely new voice.

"Here he is." The director said as I looked at the new male specie intently.

"Welcome onboard, Agent G."

As if.
