Tremorton City

The bus came to a stop, and hopping off was a young man in a lab coat, pulling a suitcase with him. He took a deep breath and looked around the city, his new home.

"Ah, this is going to be great!" He smiled and went around the city, humming a tune.

Tremorton is a beautiful city, with tall suburban buildings with a clean and futuristic look. Walking down and checking his phone, he called the estate manager, passing by other people. Soon enough, he stopped in front of a lab; it was his building, his new home.

"Ah, Profesor Nijel!" The house seller smiled.

The man walked up to Nijel, shaking hands. He introduced himself and showed him the lab. It was great—two floors, an open garden in the back, and the lab was connected to the garage.

'I need to thank Professor Utonium again,' Nijel thought, looking around. "This is great, thanks."

"No, thank you; this place had been collecting dust for ages." The seller said, shaking his hands.

He handed him the keys and left with a smile. Nijel smiled thinking about having his place; he put the suitcase down and kicked it open, and three small basketball-shaped robots flew out scanning the room.

"Alright, worker bots, we need to upgrade the lab and clean this place up. I'm going for a walk," Nijel said.

The small, round robots saluted and began to work. Nijel left the house, deciding to explore. He spent his time enjoying the place, learning how traffic worked and the fast food shops nearby to order from.

"ROOAR!" Something roared and the ground shook, and everyone tripped and fell.

"The hell!?" Nijel said.

"Ah, not again." One bystander said, "Monster!" Another shouted.

Nijel looked up as the ground exploded out of it and came a giant earthworm monster. 'Oh great,' he thought as he got up and ran away.

The monster roared and wormed everywhere, destroying cars and slamming into buildings.

'Of course, I knew this place was dangerous, but on my first day!?'

He stopped and faced the worm monster, "Hey over here!" He waved his arms and dug into his lab coat, putting on a pair of glasses.

The giant worm turned and hissed, and the shades turned.

"Let's do this," Nijel said, tilting his glasses. They lit up as he reached into his labcoat, ready to pull out.

"Lookout!" Another voice shouted as missiles hit the giant worm, making it roar.

"What?" Nijel paused as a girl landed in front of him—a robot girl.

"Get back, sir! I've got it under control!" She smirked, giving a thumbs up, and faced the giant worm. "Alright, bugly, let's dance!"

The giant worm monster roared and charged at her. Jenny flew off and started fighting the monster with her fists and blasting rockets.

"Right, this place has its hero too. Xj9, Jenny, if I'm right." Nijel muttered, "Well, I can still help in clearing damages." He shrugged.

"Gah!" Jenny groaned as the worm wrapped her up in its tentacles and hit her with a stream of acid. It burnt part of her arm showing her metal skeleton and wiring. "Ah!"

"Alright hero time," Nijel quickly reached into his lab coat and pulled out a gun!

"Freeze ray!" He pulled the trigger, and a beam of light hit the worm monster's face, he shot again freezing its entire body.

"Huh?!" Jenny said, seeing it frozen, "Finally!" She broke herself free from the tentacles and hit the monster with a laser blast from her one good arm, turning it to ash.

"Phew," Jenny flew down to Nijel. "Uh, thanks," she smiled. 'I don't think I've seen him around,' she thought, looking Nijel up and down.

"I appreciate the help; I don't think I've seen you around here before," Jenny said, feeling her damaged arm.

"Yep, I just moved in; I've done my research, but are monsters that common here?" Nijel looked behind and around, seeing the destroyed scene.

"Yeah, but I usually take care of things before it gets this bad; I should probably go that acid did some work on me. Thanks again for the help, uh," she said, giving her hand.

Her other arm sparked and fritzed. Nijel shook her hand, looking at the damage.

"I'm Nijel. If you want, I can repair your arm. I'm something of a scientist slash mechanic myself," Nijel said, squinting at the hole in her robot arm.

"I'm Jenny. If you don't mind the time to fix my arm then I'd appreciate it." She smiled, 'Mom's still on vacation; repairing myself takes so much time, and I don't want to see Sheldon.'

"Jenny! Jenny, are you alright!?" Someone called out to her, running towards them.

"Oh god, please no; did I summon him? I only thought of his name once!? What happened to three times." Jenny muttered, cringing at herself.

The guy ran, pushing Nijel aside hard and grabbing Jenny's shoulders. "Are you alright? You look damaged."

"I think she's fine—a little bruised up but fine," Nijel said. He saw Jenny getting uncomfortable and stepped away from Sheldon.

"Huh? Who are you? I wasn't talking to you. What do you know about robots? Nothing, so buzz off." Sheldon shooed Nijel away.

'And you are on my list,' Nijel frowned.

"Sheldon, you can't talk to someone like that! And I'm fine. I need to get fixed up, so we gotta go." Jenny grabbed Nijel with her one good arm and flew off.

"Wait what?!" Sheldon shouted, "Wait, hold on! I don't agree with this, I can fix you better!"

"Uh, what a jerk," Jenny said. "I'm sorry about him."

"It's alright, my lab is that way." Nijel pointed, "So is he a friend of yours?"

"Friend is a strong term, more like I tolerate him. Honestly, it all started when I saved him from bullies and he became obsessed with me. I told him I don't see him like that, but he doesn't get the hint. Then, back in high school, everyone thought we were dating, which we weren't, and that became a whole other thing, and that was before he lied to me a bunch of times, worked for the government to capture other robots and myself, and... oh no, I'm rambling again, I'm sorry."

"Don't be. Jesus Christ, he sounds like a problem; why don't you just, you know, tell him off?" Nijel asks as they land in front of his lab.

Jenny sighed, "I tried one time, and he almost killed himself because of it. He blamed me for not caring."

She looked down, kicking a pebble. "I can't live with myself knowing I'm the reason for that."

"Thats... what an arsehole," Nijel said, opening up the garage. They walked in, and he brought a seat for her.

'He's using her kindness and his own life as a weapon against her to keep himself relevant in her life; that's just wrong.' Nijel frowned.

"Thanks, I forgot how nice it is to vent to someone about this." Jenny smiled, looking at Nijel.

"No problem; you can stop by anytime you want to talk; consider it a form of maintenance," Nijel said. Making sure the bots rearranged the lab like he wanted, he pulled out a scanner from his lab coat and scanned Jenny's arm.

He was careful and slow as he turned it around, seeing the damaged circuitry and metal shell. She stayed silent watching Nijel work and then giggled.

"Hihi, thanks, I appreciate it... so," she said, kicking her feet, "why did you move here?"

Martyn pulled back done with his scanning and typed on a laptop as he answered.

"Oh well, I want to help people, and after working with Professor Utonium, I decided to build my lab. He and one of my friend Danny's parents supported me, and now I've got this place."

He moved to Jenny, lifting her arm gently. A worker drone flew over, dropping a small box of metal sheets, tools, and wires.

His glasses turned to shades, and he grabbed some tools and began to fix the wiring in Jenny's arm.

"Wait, Proffessor Utonium!?" Jenny jumped, pulling her arm away.

"Hold still," Nijel said.

"Ah, sorry," Jenny blushed and kept her arm in place, "but you mean the Powerpuff girls?

"Yep, though they shouldn't be called "girls" since they're like twenty years old now, it's funny and gets them riles up," Nijel said with a small laugh.

"If you want, since you're a hero, I can introduce you to them. Bubbles is always happy to meet new folks, especially heroes since normal people can't understand what it's like," Nijel said, finishing with her wiring.

Jenny squealed, moving her arm. Nijel stared at her deadpan.

"Sorry, I mean yeah, if she's alright with it, I can finally make some super friends." Jenny grinned.

Nijel placed small metal plates and, with a small blow torch, sealed the acid holes. "This should be it for everything."

He polished her gently and, when done, did a double-check to make sure.

'He's just as fast as mom, much faster than Sheldon,' Jenny moved her arm, "good as new."

"You seem alright; aside from some chemical burns, this polish can fix that up, and it lasts, giving a shine, not that you need it." He gave her the polish.

'Did just he call me cute? What? No.' Jenny thought about Nijels words for a moment before paying attention.

"Hungry? If my worker drones did things right, there should be, ah, there it is, the smoothie machine." Nijel pushed away, rolling on his chair over to the machine.

"I could take something to go." Jenny shrugged.

"Nice, I've got all sorts of flavours, including oils and Boba Bolts, not the first advanced robot I've catered to. I recommend banana bolts." Nijel said tapping the smoothing machine.

"I'll try it." She nodded, and two smoothies were dispensed for them to enjoy. His didn't have bolts inside for obvious reasons. It was a regular banana smoothie.

Jenna slurped and hummed pleasantly surprised, "This is pretty good."

"Glad you like it," Nijel said, raising his cup. Jenny did the same and then clicked, "to a new friendship."

'Yeah, a new friend, a cute one too.' Jenny giggled as she glanced at the time with a panicked look.

"Oh crap, I need to go. Uh, thanks for the check-up, Nijel. Maybe see you tomorrow? I could show you around." She said she was running to the pavement.

"Yeah, sure thing, just come by, like, mid-day, I got some work I need to do."

"Great thanks and welcome to Tremorton! Hope you like it here!" With that, she blasted off the wind from her rocket boots and hit Nijel, making him chuckle.

"Yeah, I think I'll like it here." Nijel nodded, seeing Jenny fly off. He closed the garage doors and looked at his lab. "Well, time to work."
