This letter I received happened one year after the summer camp. Somehow it arrived at me without my address. I wonder how it came? Did he visit me? Or did I visit him?/

Just then, Grace stops my train of thoughts and says, "Dear, would you mind getting the beers in the fridge for Calem and his dad?"

I immediately break free of Calem's grip and enter the kitchen to get some beer and soda.

We all chat on various topics such as school life before we bid goodbye to them.

Before returning to my room, my mum asks me cheekily, "Are you two close?"

"Uh, you can say so"

"Have you arrive at that stage already?"

"NO MUM, HE IS JUST A GOOD CHILDHOOD FRIEND THAT'S ALL" I exclaim.

"But I heard about kissing or something so I thought you two are dating or some sort."

"No, that's about Dawn, anyways I need to start on my homework," I hurry off to my room. My mum can be so annoying at times especially with my love life as if she does not have one (oops).

After picking up my pokephone which has a flickering notification light, I notice the girls' group chat has already started a conversation with Dawn's boyfriend Ash.

Dawn: Ash holds my hand, Yay

May: Wah so good

Misty: But he is super dense, he does not know your feelings for him

May: True but those kisses really paid off

Dawn: btw, thanks, Serena haha you really help us a lot

Me: What did I do?

Dawn: Well, you make me less awkward.

Misty: So when did you take a liking towards him?

May: No that's not important, the important is why do you like him?

Dawn: Ash is just a smart and nice guy. He knows his stuff so my tests won't be a problem like last year.

May: What??? That's your reason?

Misty: Wow, now I envy you

Dawn: Shhh, don't tell anyone or else I will cut down our ties

I just cannot take it. Dawn is just making use of Ash for her academics pursuit which means she is just toying with his feelings and her kisses mean nothing to her. I must tell Ash but how? But Dawn is my best friend, I cannot just betray her...

Ash POV

I scratch my head, trying to solve the last maths problems before going to bed. How the heck can I get this angle? sine? cosine? tangent?

Tired, I rest my head on my books, thinking that I will take a nap for a while.

Birds start to chirp outside. I wake up and find that the sun has risen and it is 11am.

"Damn it,"

After changing to my singlet and shorts, I race downstairs and find a note placed on the fridge "Sorry sweetheart, I have got late minute work to do. Settle lunch by yourself and possibly dinner too. 😘"

After reading, I feel relief as I save myself an explanation.

"RINGGG" 

I twist open the doorknob and Gary is standing there

"Hi, Ashy boy!"

"Why are you here?"

"Well to check your progress"

Gary continues, "Also in the morning I spoke to your mum and knew you will be alone so she asked me to perhaps study with you to prevent you from doing silly things like, ahem."

"Whatt no?!"

"Yes Aashy boy, you will"

"NO, not this year!"

"Well then, I shall study with you here."

"Fine with me"

Again, my doorbell rings. Who can it be this time?

I go to open the door but no one is there. Suddenly, a silhouette pops out of nowhere, "BOOO"

I jump in fright, then I notice it is Dawn with her backpack.

"What are you doing here?" I question her. 

I must not let Gary see this, or else I am dead. 

"Why can't I be here? Ash," Dawn says and leans forward, closer towards me.

I didn't know what my brain is thinking, all I can think of is to get rid of Dawn. "Dawn, uhh," I mutter.

"What is it, Ash?" She asks.

"Today, iss, sort of inconvenient." I stutter.

"Why? Is your mum home?"

"Uhh, yes," I lie.

Suddenly, a voice comes from the living saying, "Ash, who is at the door? What is taking you so long?" 

Fuck, Dawn recognises the voice. Before I can say anything, she asks, "Who is that? Gary?"

"yeah?"

"That's means I can go in!" she exclaims and enters my house. 

I chase after her, attempting to stop the two from seeing each other, but I fail. 

"Well seems like we have an uninvited guest," Gary says.

"Who is uninvited?" Dawn says as she wraps her hand over my elbow.

"Oh I see, well then I will take my leave," Gary says as he gives me a wink.

OMG NOW GARYS KNOWS.

I keep quiet as Gary leaves, only waving goodbye to him.

After I close my door, Dawn pounces onto me and gives a kiss on my cheek the same area as usual. That warm feeling again cools my mood.

"Lets start!" I say.

"Where is your mum?" Dawn curiously asks as we head to my room.

"Oh she is working,"

"Thats kind of sad, where's your dad?"

With that question, my blood starts to blood. My face starts to turn red and I shout, "I DONT HAVE A DAD," I slow my breath noticing that I am shouting at my girlfriend and continue "To me, he is dead."

Afterwards, silence ensues for 30 minutes until Dawn asks me a maths question.

Dawn tries to start a conversation by asking, "You know you could share with me since I am now your girlfriend." She then curdles me with her arms around my waist, then lies her head on my back. She is so warm when she asks. How can I not reject?

"Well, uhm, I have never shared this story with anyone before"

"Then you should tell me," as Dawn loosens her grip then pounces onto me to give me a kiss.

I slightly push Dawn away from me with my hands and say, "But I am not ready."

"Ready for what?" confused Dawn asks.

"Not the kissing, about my childhood."

"Oh haha, it is okay, tell me when you are ready, let's get back to work."

We study together for the next few hours in peace and order Pikachuuu delivery for our dinner as neither of us wants to go out for dinner.

After finishing our dinner, Dawn says cheekily, "Your whole mouth has stains of the barbeque sauce."

"Oh really, haha" as I wipe them off using my tissue.

"Ash, let me help you, you still have some."

She takes my tissues and wipes away the remaining stains. She is so close to me, I can feel her breathe. This is my first time up so close to a girl's face. I really want to kiss her directly but also feel that it is just too early.

Before anything happens, the door creaks open.

We immediately break free and separate. 

"Oh shit," I say.
