backstory:

Born just months before her parents separated, things were fine for the Reids for a while, before Michael split from Diana and took Olivia with him. So, she never really knew her brother, only ever heard stories about him. All she ever heard from her father was how smart he was, and that he was so proud of him. So, Olivia strived and fought to work as hard as her brother had, to make her father proud, but he was never quite focused on her. She went to college and got a bachelor's in EMT studies and nursing as well as criminal justice, before enrollih in the police force. When he began investigating the murder of a boy from his childhood named Riley, Spencer and Olivia met formally for the first time, when he went to question their father. She recognized him, but he didn't recognize her, and at first she refused to speak to him, though being head of the police department in that town, she had no choice but to talk to him. Eventually they found that they had some common ground, and she was invited to visit their mother, and they all became very close. Eventually she was offered a position at the FBI in the BAU after enrolling in the training academy , and she got to work with her brother, and grew close with his colleagues, specifically Emily Prentiss.
