Vel likes drinking because of how it makes him feel, numb. His parents both died - mom to cancer, dad to street business - which is why he hates and fears death. He has a weak heart and can't take too much in at a time unless he's intoxicated. Vel often refers to someone, but allways calls them 'her'.
