FLUFF AND ONE SPOILER FOR SONIC THE HEDGEHOG 2

Sonic The Hedgehog. Once a young hedgehog granted an extraordinary ability to be the fastest creature alive, now a hero to Earth. After defeating (and hopefully destroying) the evil Dr. Robotnik and getting the Master Emerald back from him, the hero was just relaxing and enjoying his life.

And now? He had two new people to enjoy that life with.

One was a brilliant young fox named Miles 'Tails' Prower, who had a rare anomaly from birth. He was born with two tails, giving him the ability to fly by spinning them like helicopter blades. But while brilliant for only being 11 years old, he was an orphan and often made fun of and shunned for having two tails.

The second was the last of The Echidna Tribe and a mighty warrior named Knuckles. He was one of the most strongest warriors in the galaxy, able to break apart anything with his bare fists. Once an enemy of Sonic due to a misunderstanding turned friend and fellow hero.

The two had joined Sonic and The Wachowski Family shortly after Robotnik met his defeat. And despite their sworn duty to protect The Master Emerald? They still had plenty of time to be kids.

Sonic looked out the window. "Man, it's raining A LOT."

Knuckles hummed, lightly putting his fists together. "My father once told me that rain was the tears or sweat of all the great warriors in the great battleground in the sky."

"...okayyy, the sweat thing is kinda gross." Sonic said, brushing himself off as if that had touched him.

He then turned to his best friend, Tails, who was sitting on Sonic's bed and staring out the window. He seemed a bit nervous.

"You okay, buddy?" Sonic asked, tilting his head.

Tails snapped out of it. "Huh? Oh, yeah, yeah! I'm fine."

"If you say so." Sonic said with a yawn.

Knuckles nodded. "I will be getting some rest myself. Goodnight, hedgehog. Goodnight, fox." He said before stepping out of the attic/Sonic and Tails' room. Knuckles preferred sleeping on the couch, since there was no room for him in Sonic's room.

Sonic stretched a bit as Tails got on his own bed, while the Blue Blur cuddled up in his race car bed. "Night, Tails."

Tails gave a nervous smile before looking out at the window again and then putting the blankets over his little fluffy body. "Night, Sonic."

But in the middle of the night, the two were awoken by a giant BOOM noise. Sonic woke up, rubbing his eyes. Nothing had exploded. So, what-

Tails suddenly shrieked, hopping into Sonic's arms and shivering as he clutched onto him tightly. His eyes were snapped shut and he was actually trembling. He looked so scared.

Sonic wrapped his arms around Tails. "Whoa, whoa. Tails, Tails. What's wrong?"

Tails didn't speak, whimpering and feeling tears sting at his closed eyes. The booming noise was heard again and Tails' whimpers and trembling grew.

Sonic looked around before looking outside. The rain was pouring down fast and after a small amount of time, the booming noise came again and there was a flash outside, along with lighting striking in the distance.

His eyes widened a bit and he looked at Tails, still hugging him. "You're scared of thunderstorms, aren't you...?"

Tails' eyes slowly opened and he looked at his friend, and nodded slowly. "U-Uh-huh..."

Sonic's eyes softened. "Awww, little bro." He said, since over the last few weeks, Tails had been like the little brother he always wanted. He then rubbed Tails' back, trying to calm him down. Like how Maddie would pet his quills when he was nervous. "It's just a little thunder and lighting. It won't hurt you."

Tails whimpered before hearing the thunder again and clutched onto Sonic. "I...I-I'm still so s-scared, Sonic...I-I can't help b-b-being sc-scared...please m-make it stop..."

Sonic's heart broke a bit before he kept rubbing Tails' back and even rubbed his ears a bit, trying any tactic he knew that relaxed him to relax Tails. It worked...partially. "If I could, I would. But we might have to wait it out."

"C-C-Can't we just use the M-Master E-Emerald...?" Tails asked, too scared to think of any possible consequences using the Master Emerald for personal gain could have.

Sonic sighed. "You know that's not what we should do with that thing, little bro...I'll be right here with you, okay?"

Tails whimpered and looked up at Sonic. "P-P-Promise...?"

Sonic smiled and nodded as the thunder struck again, but? To their luck, it sounded farther away. The storm was beginning to pass. "I promise."

Tails felt a small smile form across his face. Sonic then wrapped the blankets around them as they waited out the storm. Slowly, but surely, all that remained was rain and the thunder and lightning moved on. Tails' shivering stopped and he smiled more.

"Thanks, big brother."
