Pelco's POV

"Pelco, time to wake up", Ray said, shaking me.

"Ugh, just a few more minutes, Ray", I mouned, hitting him with a pilow.

"We're going to school today, remember?"

Oh, right.

No way was I going to miss my first day at Jade mountain academy.

I'd been looking forward to this day for weeks. I was thrilled when Queen Coral chose me, along with two other Seawings, to join the academy.

I looked in the mirror at myself. Dispite the fact that I'd just woken up, my aqua green scales were looking unusulaly beautiful today.
My earrings glittered as I put my packs over my neck and shoulders.

I flew to the tower where me and the other Seawings were to embark on the final phase of our jorney.

Small time-skip

"Are you sure you know where we're going?", Seasnake asked.

"Yes, Seasnake, you've asked that four times now", Ray answered.

Ignoring their fighting, I did a flip in the air. I was finally going to learn more about the other tribes!

We'd been traveling for days now, stopping only to eat and sleep.
Buy, today, we would reach our destionation.

It was already dusk when we arived.

When we landed, we were greeted by a Nightwing.

"Hi! I'm Fatespeaker. Welcome to Jade Mountain academy!", she said with smile.
"Let me see if I can guess who you are. Anyone want to go first?"

"Who am I?", I asked with a mysterious grin.

"Hmm, you can't be Ray, you're a girl. . . .are you Pelco?"

"Well, that really not creepy", I commented sarcasicly.

Fatespeaker giggled.

She handed us each a small pouch, containing a map of the school and a library card.

"You'll need these to get around", she explained.
"Oh, and be sure to look at the list of the Winglets before you go anywhere", she advised.

The hall was crowed with dragons.

I took out my map and looked for the sleeping caves. Thankfuly, Fatespeaker had also given me a welcome letter along with a list of the winglets.

After leaving my packs in the sleeping cave, I decided to check out the library.

Finding your way around in a big mountain filled with caves is much easier said than done, but, thankfuly, I didn't have too much trouble.
When I entered the library, I saw a dragon with a blindfold working at a desk.

"Who's there?", the dragon asked. His voice was a litte raspy, but, it had kidness in it.

"I'm Pelco."

"I'm Starflight, in case you didn't know."

I walked over to the shelf with the fantasy books on it. I loved reading fantasy, infanite possiblities, fearless wairrors, magic.

"What book are you looking for?", a voice behind me asked.

I jumped, almost hitting my head on the bookshelf.

"WiNgS aBoVe! Geez! why do boys have to be so. . . ", I stopped, getting my first good look at the dragon who'd startled me.

He was a Leafwing, about seven years old, like me, with dark emarld green scales and beautiful sky blue eyes.

I felt hot all of a sudden.
Is it just me, or am I blushing?

"Sorry about that", he said with an amused grin on his face.

His voice was calming somehow. Maybe that was just me.

"I'm Pelco, by the way", I said returning his smile.

"I'm Oaktail."

Just then, a Rainwing entered the room. He was about four or five years old, but, he was smaller than most dragons his age. His scales were green, with speackles of red and yelow. His ruff and wings were a red the color of rasberries.

"Hey, Oaktail, it's time to eat."

"Coming, Tody. Nice meeting you, Pelco. Hopefully, I'll see you again if I don't die of boredom."

I laughed at his joke.

I followed Oaktail and Tody down the hall to the feeding cave; not for any perticular reason, they just seemed to know where they were going.

"So, Pelco, have you met any of your clawmates yet?", Oaktail asked.

"I went to the sleeping cave to drop off my packs, but, nobody was there", I answered.

"What winglet are you in?"

"Silver winglet."

Oaktail's face lit up.

"So are we!"

"So, you two are clawmates?", I inquired.

"Yes, but, we're not quite sure how the academy is doing clawmates this year", Tody replied.

We reached the feeding cave, which was even louder than the hall had been about an hour earier.

"Um, hey, Pelco, why don't you sit with us? If you want to, that is", Oaktail asked, shyly.

"Sure."

A small silkwing, about Tody's age, walked up to me.

"What can I get you, mam?"

Wait a sec, did he just call me 'mam'?

"Um, got any salmon?", I asked.

"Cooked or uncooked?"

"Either one, it doesn't really matter to me right now."

"Salmon coming right up, mam"

"Just call me-nope, he's gone."

Oaktail grined.

"Where did your clawmate go?", I asked.

"He's over there, helping his friends, Dusky and Cliff with the cooking. They just met but, alreay, they're inseparable."

"So, what are you interested in?", he asked, turning to me.

"I like exploring. Not just exploring what's around me, but, I like exploring mysteries."

"What kind of mysteries do you like?", he asked.

"I'm interested in almost all mysteries, but, my favorite mysteries are any mysteries that involve psychic abilities."

"Sorry, what's that?", he asked. His brows were forowed in confushion, which was oddly adorable.

"It's this idea that all dragons have weak but natural abilities built into dragon-nature that let them do things like left objects without touching them, get accurate immperesions of dragons, and so on and so forth. But, it's different than animus magic in that it's even harder to control and the you can't cast any spells."

Tody walked up to uswith a very self-satisfied grin on his face.

"Your salmon, mam", he said with a smirk.

"Stop calling me mam", I told him.

"OK. . . . . . . . . . mam."

"YOU ARE SO DEAD", I said, jumping on him.

"Ack, ok, ok ok, ok, ok, stop!", he said laughing.

TIME SKIP BROUGHT TO YOU BY me basing Tody off of Pippen from lord of the rings:D

I walked down the hall with Oaktail, laughing and joking with him.

"I think 'mam' fits you wonderfuly", he said with a smirk.

"If you say that one more time-", I never finished the threat; we heard screaming coming from one of the seeping caves.

"What was that?!", Oaktail cried.

"Somthing's wrong!"

We raced to the cave, but when we looked inside, no one was there.

"I don't see anything", I said puzzled.

Suddenly, something jumped on me and I felt sharp teeth dig into my neck.

I woke with a start, adrenaline still racing through me.

Oaktail's POV

Oh.My.Gosh.

How could I face her again after that dream?

I quitetly slipped out of the sleeping cave and walked outside to watch the stars.

I remembered being a small dragonet, sneaking out of the safty of the leafwing vilage to stargaze.

Pelco was there, looking at the stars.

"Trouble sleeping", I whispered to her.

"Nightmare", she said with a nod.

"Me too. Wanna talk about it?"

"I dreampt that you and me were walking down the hall together and you said, 'mam fit you well'. And I said, 'if you say that again-' but, then we heard screaming coming from one of the sleeping caves. We looked inside, but, we didn't see anything. Then, from out of nowhere, something jumped on me and I felt the thing bit me in the neck. Then, I woke up"

"Geez", I said under my breath.

"What about you?", she asked.

I felt the heat rise to my face.

"You, um, erm, you did something...."

What the heck am I doing?

"It was only a dream, Oaktail. I won't tell anyone if you don't want me to", she promised.

"In my dream you kissed me", I said quickly.

I've never seen a dragon blush to their horns before, but, I could have sworn that Pelco did.

"Let's pretend I didn't have that dream."

"Not a problem", she agreed.

There was an awakward silence for a few minutes.

"It's beautiful tonight", Pelco said, barely over a whisper.

Her elegant tail brushed against mine. Her face had an expresion of tranquility.

"Have you met your clawmates yet?", I asked.

"I met them briefly, but, they were tired and I didn't get to talk to them for long."

"What are their names?"

"Windhaven, a Skywing and Junco, an Icewing."

Pelco shivered.

"Getting a little chilly out here."

I put one of my wings around her and pulled her closer to me.

This isn't weird; friends do this all the time, right?

"Thanks", she said looking up at me.

Then we heard talonsteps coming our way.

It was Junco, Pelco's Icewing clawmate.

"Pelco, what hell are you doing out here? Windhaven's missing!"
