'Cause you're the last of a dying breed

Write our names in the wet concrete

I wonder if your therapist knows everything about me

I'm here in search of your glory

There's been a million before me

---

After the ninja had gotten back (Y/n), who were happier, but who seemed to have forgotten their previous adventure (The waking world part not the Morro part), and (Y/n) was still a ghost.

Yup.

As the Bounty sailed effortlessly through the fluffy white clouds, the cool winds of the early but sunny morning were quite refreshing. One ninja, in particular, was training, or should I say, Nya.

The girl punched and kicked the crudely-made dummy, imagining its face was of former enemies who dared to rise and think they could take over Ninjago City.

She began to tire herself out, and in the corner of her eye was a small silver snake, Remo, who watched with wonder. When she looked back at him, he disappeared.

''Want a ham sandwich?'' Remo offered, balancing it on top of his head, appearing at the Master of Water's feet.

Nya blinked, taking the slice of ham trapped between the two pieces of bread. She smiled at the snake, and took a bite, sighing at its deliciousness.

''Thank you, Remo.'' The Master of Water told him, making him beam.

''No problem, Cole was teaching me how to make one and Zane intervened, he was about to put it into the toaster...'' Remo replied.

''...could've been worse if he stuck a fork into the toaster,'' Jay spoke, walking over to the pair.

Meanwhile, below deck, (Y/n) struggled to get back to sleep, covering her face with her pillow. She groaned, rolling over in her bed and telling herself to get back to sleep.

'It's no use, might as well get up.' Morro told her. 'Oh, and I know where Lloyd's secret stash of sweets are.'

The Master of Illusion shot up in her bed. 'Where?'

---

Lloyd passed (Y/n)'s room, and stopped, walking in reverse to then face the door. He heard something like a bird chirp, hesitantly opening the door to find a jay (bird, not the person), near a pile of eaten sweets.

His sweets.

But as he approached the bird, he couldn't help feeling curious. He then searched the room for signs of the Master of Illusion, and when he couldn't, he once again focused his attention on the small blue feathered bird.

Bending down to look at the cerulean and white bird, it looked him in the eyes, deep into his soul, analyzing him and seemingly knowing all his secrets.

''Well that's not creepy at all,'' Lloyd mumbled to himself, scooping the bird up. He gave the room one last glance, wondering where (Y/n) was. He then exited the room, quietly closing the door behind him.

Jay Walker passed the Green Ninja in the hallway, stopping in his tracks when he saw the blue feathered bird in Lloyd's cupped hands.

The Lightning Ninja smoothed the jay's ruffled feathers. ''I'm going to name this bird Azul.''

''We don't know the bird's gender,'' Lloyd replied.

''There are certain tricks to knowing-'' Jay told him. Kai then appeared, pulling the Lightning Ninja away from the Green Ninja before he could do anything.

Lloyd then continued to the deck, where Nya was sharing another sandwich with Remo. The jaybird then stood in the palm of his hand, tilting its head as it looked at him.

It then hopped off his palm, heading towards the Water Ninja who promptly picked it up and lifted it to her ear. Nya seemed to listen intently while the bird ''said'' something the others couldn't hear.

''She's a girl.'' The Water Ninja announced.

''How would you know that?'' The Master of Lightning asked, not trying to be rude.

''Well Jay I'm surprised you don't know the language of a jay, otherwise, you'd already have been friends with this bird,'' Cole told him.

The two started bickering, while Lloyd thought about what to do. Nya then handed him back the bird, giving him an idea.

He walked over to the railing, and the two stopped to look at him. The others then learned to never let Lloyd near a bird.

Lloyd straight up threw it off the Destiny's Bounty and waited for it to fly back up. Remo looked at him horrified, slowly backing away.

The bird fell towards Ninjago, regretting its life decisions. It then turned into (Y/n), who took one glance at the ground racing up to meet her and tried to summon her dragon, but couldn't as she was now panicking and unable to concentrate.

''I really wouldn't like the idea of going through the ground and probably discovering the different layers of the earth. 'Cause I am a ghost...''

'Onions have many layers.'

A green blur passed (Y/n), diving down towards the earth and levelling out to reveal Lloyd, who caught the girl on the dragon's back.

He glanced back at her with a nervous smile, before flying back up to the flying ship, de-summoning his dragon once he was over the deck.

''Lloyd you straight up yeeted her off the Destiny's Bounty,'' Remo told him.

Seeing the Green Bean look at the ground guiltily, (Y/n) tried to reassure him. ''Don't worry, it was my idea in the first place, can't fly if you don't fall first.''

''I learned that the hard way,'' Lloyd replied, looking at her with a sheepish smile.

The Master of Illusion yawned. ''I'm going back to sleep, wake me up at lunch.'' She then walked away to her bedroom.

---

'beep beep beep'

(Y/n) blocked her ears, but it was no use, the ''beeping'' noise was still clear in her mind. She then got out of bed, sighing.

'Morro, stop.'

'Oh, okay.'

She then headed to the dining table, with the others already sitting down but waiting for her. Once she was in her seat, they began eating.

''Jay did lunch,'' Kai spoke, looking over at the Lightning Ninja. ''It tastes okay.''

The rest of the lunch was followed by silence, with the ninja eating their food, while Remo played a silent game of Uno with (Y/n) and Cole.

While doing so, the others watched, silently cheering on who they thought would win.

The game ended with Remo winning, pulling out a green Uno Reverse Card after saying 'uno' but then ''no u''.

''Good game.'' Cole congratulated the snake, and Remo took a bite out of his ham sandwich with a grin on his face.

---

In the early afternoon light, Nya once again trained. (Y/n) had taken a break and came out, holding a water bottle with the others following.

''Hey, Nya, do you want to take a break?'' The Master of Illusion asked, but the Water Ninja ignored her, focusing on the dummy.

''Look at that, she's really beating up that dummy,'' Cole whispered under his breath to Jay, who nodded, watching her with awe.

Wu sipped a cup of tea, standing beside Misako. Remo took one look at the two and sighed.

''Alright, we're taking a break from the boys.'' The little snake spoke, making the others look at him in surprise.

Nya stopped training, walking over to the others. ''I'll join.'' The Water Ninja replied.

Her brother looked over at her. ''No.''

''I'll look after her.'' (Y/n) offered. Kai thought for a moment, before giving in and sighing.

''Fine, but make sure both of you stay safe.'' The Fire Ninja replied, giving Nya a concerned glance.

Nya smiled, running over to the girl and hugging her. ''Thank you.'' She whispered, and the Orange Ninja grinned.

''No problem.'' (Y/n) replied.

---

The Master of Illusion held her (b/s) necklace in her hand, looking at it. Then, someone knocked on the door. (Y/n) put the necklace down and opened the door to find Nya standing there, wearing a red hoodie with ripped jeans.

''Are you sure your bother's going to allow that?'' (Y/n) asked the Water Ninja, letting her in and closing the door behind her.

''Don't know and I don't care, I just need a breather,'' Nya replied. ''He's... overprotective. I appreciate him trying to be a good brother, but sometimes it's a little too much.''

''I have a brother, but he grew up without me.'' (Y/n) told her. The Master of Water looked at her, confused.

''I thought you only had a sister...?'' Nya asked.

The Orange Ninja sighed. ''It makes me feel guilty to know I don't think about him much...''

''He's dead?''

''Nononono, he's not dead, I promise! I just meant that I didn't get to spend the rest of my childhood with him before he went missing.''

Nya suddenly hugged the ghostly girl, trying to comfort her. ''He would be thinking about you right now, I'm sure of it.''

The door to the bedroom opened, and Kai stood in the doorway. The two girls quickly let go of each other, looking at the Hair-gelled Porcupine.

''Alright, stay safe you two,'' The Fire Ninja said, looking at a watch that was on his wrist. He then looked up at Nya. ''What, are, you, wearing?''

''Ripped jeans and a hoodie, courtesy of my wardrobe,'' Nya replied. ''What else?''

Kai blinked, and turned his gaze to (Y/n), who raised an eyebrow at him. ''I uh, I'll let you on your way.''

---

The others stood on the deck, with the two girls standing near the rails. The others came out to watch, looking at them.

''Well, see ya later, Adios amigos!'' (Y/n) exclaimed, jumping over the rail. Nya followed suit, following the girl.

The boys gasped, running over to the rail to watch as the two fell towards the clouds, before the Orange Ninja summoned her dragon, catching the Master of Water on its back, and with a roar, the pair disappeared below the fluffy white clouds.

---

''I'm bored,'' Cole told the others, on the couch with the others. It only took them half an hour to become bored after the girls left.

''Me too.'' Jay (the person) agreed, staring at the ceiling.

Kai was playing with his hair, a tub of Dapper Dan hair-gell beside him. The others watched as he made all his hair form into one spike, pointed towards the ceiling. When he realised the others were watching him, he stopped to look at them.

''That looks weird.'' The Master of Blabber commented.

''It is unusual,'' Zane added.

The Fire Ninja smirked, and scooped a glob of the hair gell in his hands, and stood up, looking at him. Jay's eyes widened as he realised what was about to happen, and he got up, sprinting out of the room as fast as lightning.

Kai gave chase, and the two raced around the Destiny's Bounty, with Jay trying to stay ahead of the Hair-gelled Porcupine.

Eventually, it had to end, and so it did, when the Fire Ninja realised all the hair gell in his hand had fallen onto the ground. Jay blew a raspberry at Kai, before going to go back to the others, but Wu was in his path, holding two brooms.

''Both of you clean up.'' He told them, handing them the brooms. Kai sighed, leaning on his broom while looking down at a small blob of the gell at his feet.

Jay was waltzing with his broom, and the Fire ninja looked at him. The Master of Lightning stopped raising an eyebrow at him, before continuing with his waltzing.

---

The girls had arrived at Ninjago City, pulling up their hoodie hoods so the people passing them wouldn't be able to recognise them easily. (Y/n) used her illusions to hide her ghostly appearance and fox appendages.

''I'd rather you not do that, I like seeing that part of you,'' Nya told the girl, who blushed and looked away as they walked.

There was screaming, and the girls turned to see a giant bear-like creature, which at its centre pulsed an electrical heart.

The most interesting thing about it was that it was chasing none other than Fenwick, whose arms were in the air as he ran from the giant creature, which was intent on capturing its doomed to be chased forever, offender.

Screaming and running Fenwick passed a girl on a bench, who was busily writing in a book whilst smirking as the creature pursued him, unfazed.

''Wow, looks like Nimbus is following destiny. Fenwick, not so much.'' (Y/n) commented, chuckling.

The trio (including Remo) watched as Fenwick slipped on a stray banana peel, quickly getting up before the large bear-like creature could catch him.

''And to this day, Legends tell of the intervening writer who is still being chased by the giant bear-like creature known as Nimbus.'' Remo narrated, making the two girls giggle.

---

After cleaning up the Great Hair-Gell Mess That-Kai-&-Jay-left, the boys sat in a circle, brainstorming ideas as to what games they could play. Though they would train after half an hour of games, they decided to make the most of the time they had.

''Seven minutes in-'' Jay started, but Kai was quick to silence him, slapping his hand over the Master of Lightning's mouth.

''No. Think about Lloyd.'' The Fire Ninja told him, pointing to the Green Ninja.

''Think about the children,'' Cole said, looking over at Jay.

''How about Hide & Seek?'' Zane suggested.

The Lightning Ninja removed the Hair-Gelled Porcupine's hand from his mouth. ''That sounds like a good idea.''

The boys looked at each other. ''Bags not it!'' They exclaimed at the same time, except for Cole and Jay.

''Alright, loser becomes the seeker,'' Kai said, looking at the two. ''Rock Paper Clamp, go.''

Cole went to do rock, and Jay did paper, meaning the Lightning Ninja won.

''By golly, this is rigged.'' The Spectral Master of Earth told himself as the others went to hide.

Jaybird (person, not the bird) searched the Destiny's Bounty for places to hide, knowing that Cole usually gave the hiders one minute to hide.

He opened the door to (Y/n)'s room, quietly sneaking in. He then laid on the floor and rolled under the bed, now hidden from sight.

Jay caught sight of a photo not far from him, and he reached out, grabbing it and pulling it towards him. He then looked at it, realising it was the photo of (Y/n) he'd lost. He then put it in his pocket, carefully listening to make sure the Earth Ninja wasn't nearby.

Kai used his singular spike hair to hide, placing a lampshade on his head. He stood still, thinking that ''if I can't see you, you can't see me'' was good logic.

Zane however, used the falcon as a cheeky advantage. After the Master of Lightning had installed a ''demo cloak mode'' he intended to use it, making himself almost invisible as he activated it.

Lloyd was nowhere to be seen, not even I knew where to find him.

Wu decided to join in, drinking his ''invisibili-tea'' to become completely invisible. He must've gone to Mistaké.

Cole finished counting, opening his eyes. He then went to the kitchen, grabbing a few stray cake crumbs from a plate, before continuing with his seeking.

''Where you hide I will find you...'' The Earth Ninja whispered, but loud enough for those close to him to hear. ''...And I will kill you.''

At the mention of this, Jay started to whimper like a puppy.

''The last part was a joke, you know that...'' Cole said, approaching the door to (Y/n)'s bedroom. He was hesitant, before literally walking through the door, because, well, he was a ghost.

The Master of Lightning's whimpers quietened once the Master of Earth neared the bed, and Cole smirked, suddenly appearing in front of Jay and scaring him. ''Boo,''

Jay screamed girlishly as Cole dragged him out from underneath the bed as if he was about to be kidnapped and uh, let's not continue that sentence...

The Earth Ninja easily found Kai, taking the lampshade off the Fire Ninja's head. Kai looked at him in surprise, eyes wide.

Cole shrugged and moved on, looking for Zane. He knew the Ice Ninja would be near, the Bounty wasn't as big as a cruise ship.

He searched for the others, looking through every nook and cranny he knew of.

---

The girls stood at the front of the seemingly abandoned animal shelter, but the doors weren't boarded up.

''I think my grandfather's disappeared...'' (Y/n) told Nya, who furrowed her eyebrows in thought. She then let Remo open the door, and they saw pitch-black darkness, the only light being from the door.

There was a pattering of tiny feet and the two girls readied themselves. A field mouse stepped into the light, tilting its head as it looked at them.

''Geronimo?'' (Y/n) asked, bending down to look at the mouse. Geronimo cautiously stepped forward, sniffing at her hand, his whiskers twitching. He then turned and scurried away, back into the comfort of the darkness.

The Master of Illusion sighed, turning her head to Nya, who shrugged.

''Maybe we can find out what happened?'' The Water Ninja asked.

''But we don't have-'' (Y/n) started.

''I found the light switch!'' Remo called out, pressing it. The room brightened, making the girls shield their eyes from the sudden bright light.

When they opened their eyes, the animal shelter looked as good as new, as if it was recently used. However, the cages were empty, and there were no signs of its inhabitants.

'Something doesn't feel right.' Morro spoke.

''Hey Nya, is it just me, or does this place seem... strange?'' (Y/n) asked the Water Ninja, who took one look at their surroundings and frowned.

''I don't know, but maybe it's not a good thing,'' Nya answered, warily glancing around. (Y/n)'s gaze landed on the grandfather clock, its pendulum still as a stone.

The Master of Illusion walked over to it, taking a closer look at it. The clock had stopped ticking, the hands of the clock pointing to two different numbers. 5:30 was the time it had stopped working.

She then noticed the compartment under the pendulum, was ajar. (Y/n) opened the little door, finding a space where something u-shaped was supposed to be, with a little plaque with some words on it.

'丅Ꭵᗰᗴ ᗯᗩᎥ丅ᔕ ᖴᗝᖇ ᑎᗝ ᗝᑎᗴ'

---

Cole listened carefully as he searched the Destiny's Bounty for the remaining hiders. He then stopped, turning his head and looking at a spot that flickered weirdly.

''Zane, I know you're there.'' The Earth Ninja spoke. There was no reply. He then walked towards the spot, and the nindroid appeared, looking at him.

''You found me.'' Frosty the Ice Ninja said, making Cole grin.

''Now to find the others,'' Cake Devourer said, leaving the Ice Ninja to join Jaybird.

After a long time of looking for the others, Cole gave up. Wu appeared out of nowhere along with Misako, sipping a cup of hot tea.

''Where's Lloyd?'' Zane asked the others, who glanced at each other and shrugged. They all became still as something appeared behind the Earth Ninja.

Cole looked at them confused, before catching sight of a green gi behind him in the corner of his eye. He didn't have much time to react as Lloyd appeared in front of him, making him stumble back in surprise.

''Surprise.'' The Green Bean said, making jazz hands.

Cake Devourer sighed and turned his gaze to Jay. ''You're in.''

Ginja shook his head, and walked away to the game room, with the others following. ''We're doing something else!''

---

(Y/n), Remo and Nya exited the animal shelter, finding nothing important that could help them with the Master of Illusion's missing grandfather.

Sitting down on a parch bench looking directly at the Titanium Ninja statue, the two girls enjoyed each others company, talking about boys.

Suddenly, a Fangpyre serpentine appeared, holding up a flower crown. They placed it on top of Nya's head, and soon, one was also on (Y/n)'s head.

Wren stepped into view, looking at the two with a fanged smile. ''Hi!'' ''he'' said, scaly hands behind his back.

''Wren?'' (Y/n) asked, smiling.

Nya couldn't help feeling a hint of jealousy towards the Fangpyre snake, who happily talked with the Master of Illusion.

''I thought this was a girl's night?'' The Master of Water asked (Y/n).

''Uh, about that...'' Wren said, trailing off as ''he'' looked at the ground. ''I'm a girl.''

''What?!'' Nya and (Y/n) exclaimed at the same time, eyes wide with shock.

The Fangpyre snake turned her gaze to them. ''It's.. kinda hard to explain.''

''Try and explain it, I'll understand.'' (Y/n) told her.

''Kinda at birth, I've always been a boy but always felt like I was a girl, it confused me, why I couldn't be normal like the others... I just felt... different...'' Wren struggled to explain.

''I was always scared to tell others, just in case I was shunned and cast out from my tribe. It's been a real struggle to keep it a secret, I just needed to tell someone.'' The serpentine finished.

Nya stepped forward, wrapping her arms around Wren, and (Y/n) did the same, and the Fangpyre snake did the same, smiling.

When they broke out of the hug, Wren sighed happily, knowing she had good trustworthy friends.

''Don't be afraid, show them who you really are, if they reject you, then they don't deserve you,'' Nya told Wren.

''Thanks, I r-really needed it.'' The Fangpyre Serpentine replied with a sheepish smile.

A literal lightbulb lit up above (Y/n)'s head. ''I have an idea.''

---

The four entered the shop, boxes stacked on top of each other in piles. Ronin appeared, carrying a box and setting it down, eying the girls.

He straightened himself, walking over to them. ''What do ya need?'' The Thief asked, leaning on a dusty counter.

''I believe Wren here requires a certain pin.'' (Y/n) told him, nodding her head towards the Fangpyre serpent.

Ronin looked a bit confused, before turning and walking away from them. He then came back, carrying a small wooden box.

Opening it, they saw an assortment of different pins with different gender-associated pronouns on them. Wren pointed to a light pink one and the Thief picked it, putting it on the counter.

''Anything else?'' Ronin asked, and (Y/n) shook her head.

''I have a question, where'd you get this box of pronoun pins?'' Wren questioned, looking at it.

''The question should be: how are you going to pay for this?'' The Thief corrected her. (Y/n) pulled out a single piece of cash, but Ronin shook his head. ''You're not going to, because it's free.''

''Thank you Ronin.'' (Y/n) said with a smile. The Thief blushed, looking away.

''You're welcome.'' He mumbled as the four made their way out of his shop.

---

Wren had decided to head home after the time they had together. The two girls sat on the bench beside each other with Remo taking a nap. They watched as the sun shone its last golden rays, before sinking out of sight, and the lights came on, and the city seemed to come alive.

Nya sighed happily. ''Thank you (Y/n), for today, it was so great, I loved every moment. If I had stayed with the other boys I wouldn't have experienced what today had to offer, and what you... had to offer...'' The Water Ninja told her, blushing.

(Y/n) gave her a small smile, and felt her hand touch Nya's. The Water Ninja yawned, closing her eyes, falling asleep almost instantly.

The Master of Illusion had to make her shoulder solid as the girl leaned on her, as she would wake up if she fell through the ghostly girl.

Passerbys whispered as they looked at the two. (Y/n) glared at them, and they quickened their pace, quickly disappearing behind the corner.

The Master of Illusion caught sight of someone in a green hoodie, with a few wisps of snow-white hair showing. They handed someone sitting down on a piece of cardboard some food from a bag, before disappearing.

(Y/n) looked at Nya, who was sound asleep, exhausted from all of the day's worth of walking. She then turned her gaze to Skylor Chen's Noodle House, not far from the two.

Remo opened his eyes, looking up at the Master of Illusion. ''What are you thinking, (Y/n)?'' He asked, whispering as he had noticed Nya who was currently asleep.

''How about we go get some noodles?''

---

The Noodle House was surprisingly empty, save for the red-haired girl who was cleaning a table. (Y/n) walked in, holding the Water Ninja bridal style.

Skylor chuckled, guiding the girl to a nearby booth, who gently placed the exhausted Water Ninja in the seat.

''Big day?'' Noodle Daughter asked, keeping her voice low. (Y/n) nodded, stifling a yawn. ''I doubt you'd be able to fly home, not with so little energy.''

''What? But-''

''No.'' Skylor interrupted, putting her hands on her hips. ''You need rest.''

(Y/n) sighed. She then looked at Nya, who was leaning against the wall, then at Remo.

''Do you have any ham sandwiches?'' The little snake asked hopefully, looking at the cherry-haired girl.

''Of course, but I doubt there'll be any when you're done with them,'' Skylor replied, smiling at him.

The rest of the night, Remo got his ham sandwiches, but nowhere near the amount, he saw in the mirror. Noodle Daughter let the two sleep for a bit, and when they woke, Skylor flew them back to the Destiny's Bounty after receiving a text message from Kai.

Nya and (Y/n) headed for their bedrooms, tired. The Master of Illusion heard noises coming from the gaming room, and took a peek, seeing the boys fast asleep on the couch, blushing.

Cole was hugging Jay in his sleep, while the Lightning Ninja kissed a pillow as the Earth Ninja snored.

(Y/n) then stumbled to her bed, where she collapsed upon contact of the soft blankets, quickly falling asleep.

Remo gently took the flower crown from her head, placing it on the bedside table. He mumbled (Y/n) a 'good night' before falling asleep himself.
