A shitty ending for a shitty story. Seems fitting.

But in all seriousness, I sort of planned for this to happen. I knew I didn't want to end the story with a regular ending—not that there's anything wrong with that—because not all relationships end with a happily ever after. It's okay to break up, especially if it's for someone's own good. In a relationship with Carson, Oliver began to feel sub-par and not as worthy—which is NOT what a relationship is supposed to make you feel. Carson realized this and had to break up with Oliver, in spite of the fact that he loved him. Oliver had to prioritize himself before he got into any relationship. I don't know if I got that point across as well as I would've liked to, but I tried.

Also, this is a pretty short story. I planned for it to be shorter than a novel and longer than a short story, so this is somewhere in between, I guess. Not including the author's notes, this story is 92 pages and approximately 36,538 words long. I've never been good at writing very long stories, anyway.

Lastly, I wanted to touch upon the ending. I wanted to leave it slightly open-ended with no epilogue. This is ironic, I suppose, because I absolutely HATE stories that end with an open-ending. But, I figured it was fitting. If you guys want to imagine that Oliver and Carson eventually get back together, then so be it. Personally, I'd always imagined that Oliver would take a gap year after his senior year and travel, and Carson goes to some Ivy League school, but that's just me. Imagine it how you'd like :)

I don't know what's next. I'm currently on a vacation that will end very soon, but I knew that I wanted to get this up. Think of it as a New Year's gift. Like I said in the last chapter, I'm not sure when or if I'll upload another story to Wattpad. I have lots of ideas, but I don't tend to write them unless I have time, and updating stresses me out a lot. But who knows? Only time will tell.
