i grab my camera and go to the lake.

i take a few shots of the mountain behind it when i see a trail leading up.

i pull the camera down and squint to see it again.

when i spot the trail again i walk to it.

it's completely clear so i walk up.

i can see the whole town from here. i take a few pictures and just sit down.

then i get a call from him.

'where are you? i came back and you were gone.'

'i'm at the lake taking a few pictures. is everything okay?'

'oh. yeah. sorry i was just worried.'

'i meant to tell you, but i forgot. I'll be back soon.'

'if you want to stay for a little you can, my parents just called and asked if we wanted to come over.'

'sounds good. i'll be back in twenty minutes. i walked here so my car should be there still.'

'okay. bye. i love you.'

my heart fluttered a little bit.

'i love you too.'

i take one more picture and walk back down.

a smile plastered on my face.
