When it was almost time for open-mic to start, Joey came back down stairs, his spirits lifted when he saw how full the room was. It seemed he managed to charm quite a lot of people into becoming regulars, and he was thankful for their patronage.

"You better get up there," Joey said to Macy, who was MC for the event.

Nodding her head, she scurried to the stage and grabbed the microphone, smiling widely as she waved to the crowd.

"Good evening, everyone!" she greeted, kicking off the night with high energy. "We've got a lot of talent for you tonight, but we still have some slots to fill! If anyone would like to sign-up, you can meet me over here! Until then, help me welcome Michael Hall to the stage!"

As people applauded and snapped, Joey stayed busy finishing orders, helping serve the line of customers he acquired.

Another ding of the door sounded, but he was too busy starting a fresh brew to greet them like he liked to do whenever someone came in. Hoping the live music was enough of a welcome, he let it go.

As the night passed, he was down to two more people to take care of who had come back for a half-priced refill. Focusing on them, he hardly noticed the different introduction Macy delivered for the next performer.

"Up next we have a special guest who needs no introduction! Let's ALL pay attention to this next act!" she said, emphasizing all.

Not thinking he was included in that, Joey thought nothing of the sudden ukulele chords that filled the air of his cafe.

"And here's your refill," he said to the last customer in line. "Enjoy."

Everything was going fine...until her voice echoed through the room.

"Something always brings me back to you,
It never takes too long.
No matter what I say or do,
I'll still feel you here 'til the moment I'm gone."

The raspy warm tones that captivated him months ago were singing the tune to Gravity by Sara Bareilles. The only person who's voice made him feel all kinds of things at once was in his cafe. Turning to look at the stage, Joey didn't know what to think.

Was she really there? Was she actually singing in his cafe? And was she singing to him?

Her eyes were closed, as they always were when she sang; it was one of the things that he loved about her. Her hair was still just as curly and golden as it was before she left. She looked the same, like she hadn't changed...like she was still his Nevada, but he still had doubts.

"I live here on my knees
As I try to make you see that you're
Everything I think I need here on the ground."

By now, Joey had begun to walked toward her. He hadn't even realized it until Macy walked over to him, causing him to assess his surrounding.

"Looks like your favorite state came back to you," she squealed, hopping up and down before running back to her spot.

Hoping that was true, he looked back at the bronze beauty he realized he had been waiting for since the moment she left. The melody was slowing, indicating the end approaching, so he focused everything on her, wanting to savour the moment in case what came next wasn't what he hoped.

"Something always brings me back to,
It never takes too long."

As the last line left her lips, Nevada's eyes opened and immediately found his. As if telling him that's how she felt about him, Joey smiled slightly before returning to the counter. The night wasn't over, but he needed to step back for a second to let his body catch up with his mind, which was moving a mile a minute.

She came back, which had to mean something. Thinking back to what he told himself when he let her go, Joey chose to believe that she had come back because she was his, much like he was still completely hers.

When the service bell that sat beside the register was rung, he asked on instict what the customer wanted.

"Black coffee. One cup, two sugars, please. Unless you want to give me the whole pot."

A knowing smile formed on his lips when he turned around and saw Nevada there, with a special gleam in her eyes. The gleam she had all those months ago when she was with him.

"I just might," he chuckled, remembering how he'd said that to her the first time he met her.

"Do you see anything else you'd like with that?" he asked, feeling better all because of the way she was looking at him.

Flashing her killer smile that charmed him when she first took the stage at Just Add Cream, Nevada held him in the palm of her hand and that's where he wanted to stay.

"I just might," she said.
