Both Alex and Mellie swam looking at the inside of the Prohsea in awe. The rest of the eighteen year old selkies looking on as well. They were all dazzled by the light cascading through the halls and the beautiful decor.

Pearls, coral, and silver adorned the walls. They formed arches that twirled up to the ceiling. Silver seaweed floated up in crevices casting an eerie glow. Wide, open windows allowed fresh sea water to flow in, as well as the sun's glorious rays. The floors were pearl mosaics of the selkie's past. It showed how the goddess Luvet bestowed talismans onto different parts of the world.

The selkie's were formed by the Pearl of Mystery. Years ago the pearl was locked up in the royal vault.

Mellie didn't like how it was so close to the prince, but she was only a citizen. One of the ones in the middle class at that. There was nothing she could do about it without being arrested for treason if the case went that far.

The Prohsea started getting darker and gloomier as the hall stretched onwards. The water temperature got colder, causing some of the selkies to shiver. Mellie shivered and pulled her scarf closer to her fur.

Alex also shivered and swam slightly closer to Mellie trying to share their warmth. The sudden excitement of the day died down.

After a few more minutes the group of selkies reached an amphitheater it was wide with desolate pink coral seats. It had a sandy arena waiting to be used once that year, just for the occasion of the eighteen year old selkies.

The even was always held on the last day of the year as to not leave out anyones birthday. Mellie didn't have to worry about that though, her birthday was months prior.

Very silently and quickly, the selkies swam to their seats. They didn't want to keep the Prophet waiting very long. She arrived when the selkies were waiting on her, not the other way around.

Soon after, whispers filled the empty room. Mellie, and Alex among the ones who didn't speak at all. They knew tradition was important so they followed it.

After what seemed like a long time the gates at the entrance of the sandy arena banged open. Sand and silt floated everywhere causing the selkies to cough. They rubbed their flippers against their eyes trying to ignore the sting in their eyes.

When everything cleared an selkie with wore, dull fur was floating in the middle of the arena. She wore a twisted crown upon her head and she commanded the authority of the selkies attention in just a single moment.

One by one she called up selkies. A misty glow surrounded her and nothing happened before they were able to leave.

Even Alex went up, nothing happened. Nothing happening was the normal, no selkie in the room was very surprised about it. So he waved a flipper at Mellie and swam through the exit.

Around half the selkies remained when the Prophet closed her eyes and said a name.

"Mellie Craw."
