(Zeff x Reader)

"Look who finally decided to rear her head here." He grunted.

"Who?" Sanji asked.

He turned to the preteen kid still too short to look out the kitchen window. Zeff furrowed.

"Ah. Uh. No one. Get back to work." He said.

Sanji pouted before going back and peeling the potatoes. While Zeff checked around before stepping out of the kitchen. He stopped in the doorway as you sat at a table of one. Looking out the window holding a glass of wine. He admired how time was well to you. You still looked as beautiful as when the two of you were pirates. Enemies back in the day. Until he disappeared along with his leg and gaining a son.

"Damn." He grunted.

You swirled your wine as he began to approach you. Before he stopped before your table and crossed his arms.

"Has time treated you well." He spoke.

You turned to him, "I'd say the same to you. But it would swell to that fat ego of yours."

"I see your charm hasn't changed." He grunted.

"It's good to see you too old friend."

You patted the spot before you, he hesitated before sitting down.

"So. Tell me. How does a pirate retire, cause he lost a leg?" You cocked a brow.

"It's. Not cause of the leg."

"Oh?"

Your eyes glanced to a young boy poking his head out of the kitchen door. Along with a few other heads.

"Finally settling down huh?" You hummed, "Your son is poking his head out of the kitchen door."

Zeff snapped to the door as they scrambled inside of the kitchen. You giggled as he sighed turning back to you.

"I should go."

You reached out touching his hand, "I can wait."

He smirked before heading back into the kitchen. It filled your heart with warmth to see him again. After all these years. He's still the same, and still kicking.

You waited until the restaurant was vacant. Most of the cooks and servers in bed. While you sat at a small table by the window. The candle dimly lit sitting on your table. The same glass of wine was in your hand. With a little more wine. Until a new glass was placed into your hand. You turned to Zeff holding another red wine.

"You still have that old thing?" You cocked a brow.

"I locked it away in case I ever saw you again." He said.

He popped the cork and poured the glass. Then poured some for himself before seating before you. You both clinked glasses before taking a sip. He sighed.

"13 years is a good year for this wine."

You hummed, "13 years too long."

Zeff cupped your hand and kissed it softly, "Too long."

You smiled cupping his cheek and rubbed your thumb across.

"Even when I was your enemy you always treated me like I was special." You said.

"What can I say? I've always had the way to woo a ladies heart."

You cocked a brow with a small smirk, "Oh really? I remember it quite differently, the some alliance we had, with the endless lovemaking, hm?"

He pursed his lips, "I did do that didn't I?"

"To think I fell for your little trick."

"Oh? Which one was that again?"

"Your cheesy pick up lines."

Sanji snuck downstairs poking through the crack in the door. Some other of the cooks and servers were there. Watching the old master pick up some new tricks.

"Hey do you guys know who that is?" Sanji asked.

"That's (Y/N). She was a rival of Zeff's for pretty long. But they formed an alliance once and I think they fell in love. Until Zeff disappeared, (Y/N) has been searching for him ever since."

"You think there gonna get married?"

"Maybe."

Sanji grinned poking out as Zeff held your hand brushing his thumb over the back of your hand. You'd giggle trying not to choke on your wine. Zeff would smile softly before chuckling with you.

"What's he doing?"

"His way of flirting which is cheesy pick up lines."

Sanji gasped softly before crawling out of the kitchen. Your eyes met the boy who rolled under a table before turning back to Zeff.

"So. Where does your kid fall into all this?" You asked.

"Sanji? Oh. He. I saved him from drowning. Then we washed up on a deserted island and. That's how I lost my leg."

"Well, at least you lived to tell the tale. Besides two legs are overrated anyway."

You both laughed as Sanji crawled under the table before the two of you. You met him again before turning back to Zeff. Then noticed some of the staff watching in the kitchen.

"You know, it's like anyone here hasn't seen you talk to a woman before." You said.

"Why do you say that?"

"Well there staring at us."

Zeff turned to the staff before getting up and went to chase them around. You unclipped an earring from your ear and tossed it on the floor before Sanji. You got up and went to retrieve it. You lifted the sheet as the boy gasped clutching onto his notebook.

"What are you doing?" You smiled.

"Just getting some tips on how to get girls." He whispered.

"I'll show you how the master gets it done."

You winked as Sanji smiled. You lowered the sheet as you picked up your earring and clipped it on. Then took your seat before Zeff got back.

"Alright eggplant? Where are you hiding?" Zeff called.

"Oh leave him alone, he's fine." You said, "If we need to take things privately then we can."

He sighed sitting before you, "I guess that's true."

You patted his hand, "Now now, lay some of the old Red Leg Zeff charm on me."

"Geez, I don't know. Haven't whipped that out in a while."

You smirked, "Are we talking about the same thing?"

"I don't know are we?"

"There still is a child running amok."

He grumbled glancing around, "Right."

"Come on, lay some of the good ol charm on me."

He grumbled, "Alright give me a minute."

He hummed softly while your foot rubbed against his ankle. Zeff smirked resting on his palm.

"If I had a star every time I thought of you, the sky would be empty."

You smiled, "You cheesy old man."

"Roses are red, Violets are blue, lava is hot and so are you."

You giggled, "Oh good one."

"Are you made out of grapes? Because your as fine as wine."

"Oh now were getting into food?"

He placed a box in front of you.

"It's yours."

You opened the box and smiled softly. Inside was a blue shell, ombréd out to a darker blue while the inside was pink. You smiled picking it up and pressed to your ear. Shutting your eyes you imagined the waves splashing. You pulled back placing it back in the box.

"You've kept such a dumb trinket?" You asked.

"It's not a dumb trinket. It holds so much more meaning. The shell we found together."

"Our all blue."

Sanji poked his head out, "All Blue?"

"Ah ha! I found you!" Zeff grinned.

Sanji screamed as Zeff went after him. You smiled softly picking up the shell.

"The shell I knew I had fallen for you."
