Sirens

Everyone knew that hearing sirens was a bad thing. But these were different. Travis couldn't explain it.

One moment he was telling a fabricated story to Katie claiming that he had saved some kids life, while Connor was stifling laughter beside him listening to music, the next he found it impossible not to jump over the edge of the cruise ship they were on.

Travis had won tickets to a cruise ship in a game of poker with some stupid mortals. He invited Katie and Connor along, seeing as he had two extra tickets and no other friends.

Apparently the cruise was taking a detour through the Bermuda triangle.

Connor was wearing a pair of headphones that promoted being able to completely isolate sound. They worked.

Travis heard the sound and like crystal clear pathway, he just had to jump. He had to reach that island.

Katie was on that island. She was waiting for him, standing in front of their house in the suburbs. He could see a two year old chasing a golden retriever around the front lawn. And he had an odd knowledge that his house was anti monster, charmed so he'd never have to worry for his family.

His family.

He liked the sound of that.

He couldn't hear Connor yelling at him, he could barely feel him clinging onto his shirt as he dangled on the otherside of the railing.

He was listening to the Sirens sing their beautiful song.

He didn't know it but Katie was too. And she was hearing and seeing something entirely similar to Travis.

And Connor who desperately clung to both their shirts could feel the metal railing digging into his stomach. He couldn't let go. He could see both of their hopes and dreams.

They were all lucky that night. A couple mortals had rushed to help them. Travis admitted later that he had no been feeling well, (The mortals were convinced Travis had accidentally drank someone's alcohol). Katie blamed Travis saying he dragged get over the edge.

And Connor? Well Connor found he had a lot to do.

What? Tratie wasn't going to gotten by itself.
