Third Person

Scott sat in his room crying. He had just come out to his parents and they called him horrible things and said they hated him. He was truly hurt. His older brother, Steven, was trying to comfort him, but it was not working.

"C'mon Scott, it's okay."

The brunet cried more. "They hate me!"

Steven frowned, knowing this was true. Their parents had never been accepting. They would disown Scott for being homosexual. He rubbed Scott's back to let him know that he still loved him. Steven saw no problem with Scott being gay. To him, love was love, no matter who it was with; man or woman. He didn't understand why his parents were so against that. Scott cried more.

"Just leave me alone!" he cried.

Steven frowned as he left, deciding to give his stressed out younger brother some space.

Scott continued to cry into his pillow until his stomach hurt. He groaned and curled up under the covers, just wanting to disappear from existence.

"They'll never love me," he whispered.

He always thought his parents would love him no matter what, but the second being gay came up they said straight out that they hated him and that he was a disgrace. He felt so hated. He opened his window as quietly as possible and started climbing down the gutter of his two story house. Once he'd reached the ground he started running. He wasn't sure where he was going, he just knew he wanted to get there as soon as possible. He ran down the sidewalk, nearly tripping several times in his classic red converse. Being only 17 he wasn't sure what to do.

'Do I leave? Do I stay? Do I run away and never come back? Do I lie and say I'm straight? Do I just ignore my family for the next year?'

He didn't have the answers to any of his questions. He stopped and sat on the sidewalk, crying up at the stars. He heard footsteps and started running. The purple male he'd been running from was curious about the teen. He quickly followed, not wanting to lose him. The young brunet was exhausted and just wanted to collapse, but kept running. The purple-headed male followed. Scott tripped and groaned in pain from the feeling now coursing through his leg. The purple-headed male helped him up. Scott wanted to run again, but the unknown male grabbed his arm.

"Wait, you look kinda lost, do you need help?" he asked.

Scott burst out into tears and hugged the taller male. The purple male blushed from the unexpected action.

"It's okay."

He hugged back. Scott hid his face in the other males shoulder. For some reason he felt comfortable around the stranger he was hugging.

"My name's Vincent," he said.

Scott sniffled. "I-I'm Scott," he choked out.

Vincent smiled softly. "You look like you've been through a lot. Wanna grab some coffee?" he offered.

Scott wiped the tears from his eyes and nodded. Vincent grabbed his hand and started walking to the nearest coffee shop. Scott blushed from the other males touch. They walked hand in hand to the cafe and ordered two cups of coffee with sugar. Scott loved it with sugar and found it interesting that Vincent enjoyed sugar in his coffee as well. They sat at a table for two. Vincent looked Scott in the eyes. The smaller male blushed, looking away slightly, only to look back and see Vincent was still staring at him. Vincent was attracted to the smaller male. He wanted to get to know him. Scott blushed as he continued to drink his coffee.

"So, Scott, you seem upset."

Scott frowned. "Well, I just came out to my parents and they told me that they hate me," he said quietly, on the verge of tears.

Vincent frowned, feeling sympathy for the brunet. "My parents were ok with me being gay," he said.

Scott looked up, surprised by the others words. Vincent looked away quickly, afraid he'd said too much and scared Scott away. Scott made an unexpected move and grabbed Vincent's hand from across the table and stroked the top with his thumb. Vincent blushed and smiled. Scott shared a sweet smile back. They both finished their coffee and walked out. Scott shivered since he was wearing a t-shirt and capris in late December, which wasn't the smartest choice. Vincent noticed.

"You cold?" he asked.

Scott hugged himself. "I-I'm okay" he lied.

The purple male could tell he was lying and took off his jacket and put it on the other's shoulders. Scott blushed and smiled.

"Thanks," he said quietly.

Vincent smiled back. "No problem Scott."

They walked together on the sidewalk. Laughing lightly at jokes and comparing things they liked. They had a lot of similar tastes. Scott was having fun until they walked onto his street. He frowned.

"What?" Vincent asked.

"This is my street," he said quietly.

"Mine too," Vincent said.

Scott's eyes widened. "Where do you live?" he asked.

Vincent pointed to his house. "Over there."

Scott looked and realized that his house was on the other side of the street from Vincent's.

"My house is right over there," he said, pointing across the street to his own house.

Vincent smiled. "I'm surprised I haven't seen you around before," he said.

Scott looked away. "I, uh, I don't really get out much," he whispered.

Vincent looked into Scott's eyes, admiring their blue-green color.

"I can change that," he said.

Scott blushed, biting his lip and nodding. Vincent lifted Scott's chin up and kissed him. Scott blushed a dark red and kissed back. The brunet had never had a real kiss before and was enjoying it very much. Vincent pulled away and smirked. Scott blushed.

"See you tomorrow Scotty~," Vincent purred as he started walking towards his house.

Scott nodded and walked on the opposite side to his house. The teen remembered he had snuck out, so he climbed back up the gutter and in through his window. He was hugged by Steven.

"God Scott are you crazy!?" he whisper-yelled.

Scott was confused. "What?" he asked.

"You snuck out! Are you insane!? Mom and Dad are already upset with you! You're lucky I vouched for you and said you were asleep, otherwise your ass would be mounted on the wall!" he whispered again.

Scott hadn't even thought about the consequences of him sneaking out. He had just wanted to get away from the house for a bit.

"S-Sorry," he said quietly.

He never liked when his brother snapped at him. Now he felt unwanted by the one person who had accepted him for who he is.

"You can't just leave like that! If I wasn't here you would've gotten caught!"

Scott felt like crying again.

'My own brother's turned against me,' he thought.

Steven sighed and left the room. Scott buried his face in the pillow and started sobbing. He sobbed and cried for a good ten minutes before he heard a tiny tap on his window. He opened his window only to see Vincent standing on his lawn. His eyes widened.

"What are you doing here?! My parents will kill me!" he yelled quietly.

"Then come with me!" Vincent yelled back.

Scott thought for a moment. "Hold on!" he yelled down.

He ran down the hall to Steven's room. "Steven!" he whispered.

Steven opened his door in his pajamas and messy hair, showing he was asleep. "What?" he groaned.

"I'm going out," Scott said quietly.

Steven's eyes widened. "The hell you are!" he snapped.

Scott was shocked by his brother's outburst. "W-What?" the younger male asked.

"You almost got in trouble last time and I don't wanna get yelled at because you wanna go out,"

Scott frowned. He was sad. He finally had a friend and his brother wouldn't vouch for him. Steven pinched the bridge of his nose.

"Scott, I don't wanna upset you. You've been through enough today as it is. I just don't wanna get in trouble,"

Scott frowned and ran back in his room. He hastily climbed down the gutter, losing and regaining his footing several times. He hopped down and hugged Vincent.

"Where are we going?" the brunet asked.

"A party," Vincent said, a mischievous tone in his voice.

Scott smiled. He had never really been to a party before. His parents wanted him to be social, but would never let him go anywhere. Scott always thought that was stupid.

'How am I supposed to be social if you never let me go anywhere?'

Vincent grabbed his hand and started walking down the street. Scott blushed. They had kissed earlier, but Scott had never been in a relationship before and was in the process of getting used to it. Vincent smirked as he saw Scott blush. He gripped Scott's hand tighter and kept walking.

"So where is this party?" Scott asked.

"It's at my friend Mike's house," he replied.

Scott had never really been friends with anyone and felt he would stand out.

"Is it okay for me to go? I mean, I'm not that social and I'll probably stand out in a party," he said quietly.

Vincent kissed Scott's cheek. "It's fine, besides, we can always stand out together."

Scott blushed at Vincent's words. He was truly falling for the purple male. He could only hope that Vincent felt the same.

The two arrived at the party. There was music and plenty of people. Scott was never okay in big crowds so he clung to Vincent like a life raft. Vincent didn't mind, he liked Scott. He hoped Scott shared the feelings of affection he had. Scott clung to the purple male's arm, never wanting to let go.

"Hey, guys let's play spin the bottle!" someone yelled.

Scott blushed a dark red. Everyone sat in a big circle. The two sat on opposite sides. Someone rolled a bottle into the middle of the circle as a starter. It was an indication that anyone could spin. Vincent smirked and grabbed the bottle. Scott blushed, knowing well what the other was intending to do. He closed his eyes as Vincent spun the bottle, only to open them and see the bottle pointing directly at him. He blushed a dark red as Vincent crawled towards him. The purple male kissed him. Scott kissed back, not caring about anyone else.

"Ugh, get a room," someone groaned.

Vincent flipped the person off, making Scott giggle.

Time Skip to End of  the Party

The party was over and Scott and Vincent were taking a walk. The two made their way to their houses and said their goodbyes. Scott quickly climbed up the gutter and hopped into bed.

Time Skip to Morning

Scott awoke to his mother pounding on his door.

"SCOTT CAWTHON, OPEN THIS DOOR!" she yelled.

Scott hated his full name and opened the door quickly. He wasn't aware of the reason his mother was so furious. She slapped him.

"I told you to be up by 8:00 am!" she yelled.

That was a strict rule in the house. It was so the family could eat breakfast together. Scott had obviously slept in.

"Why? I'm obviously not welcome to be part of the family anymore!" he argued.

His mother slapped him again. "Don't talk back young man! And where did you get that jacket!?"

Scott was still wearing Vincent's jacket.

'Oh no! She'll kill me!'

"I found it in my closet and slept in it since I was cold," he lied.

She rolled her eyes and walked down the stairs. Scott went back into his room, slamming the door.

'I hate her. She hates me. I guess we're even.'

He hid his face in the pillow and cried, something he'd been doing a lot of lately. He pulled Vincent's jacket tighter around him, thinking of the purple male.

"I wish you were here," he whispered.

Vincent sat in his room, thinking about the brunet.

'I hope he's okay. Is he in trouble for sneaking out? Does he really like me? Am I gonna get my jacket back?'

He twirled in his computer chair until he got dizzy and sighed. He stared out his window and across the street at Scott's house. He leaned back in his chair and began to daydream about the brunet. He wished to feel his touch and to see that red blush he'd grown to love. He broke out of his gaze to see Scott sitting at his window. He saw Scott open his window and wave. He opened his window and did the same. Scott smiled, still wearing the other's jacket. He climbed out his window and slid down the gutter. The teen dashed across the street. At the same time, Vincent was running down his stairs. The smaller male was just about to knock, when the taller male opened the door. Scott blushed as Vincent pulled him into a hug. Scott hugged back, feeling the other males warmth.

"Mm~," he hummed.

Vincent hugged the male tighter, closing the door with his foot. They broke the hug a few seconds later.

"Oh, um, I have your jacket," Scott said while taking it off.

Vincent stopped him. "Keep it," he said, putting it back on the brunet.

Scott blushed. "A-Are you sure?" he asked.

Vincent nodded. "I'm sure, love~," he said.

Scott smiled and blushed slightly from the others flirtatious tone. Vincent grabbed Scott's hand and started leading him upstairs. Scott blushed more. The two walked into Vincent's bedroom. Vincent sat on the bed and patted next to him, signaling for Scott to sit with him. Scott sat next to the male, blushing a dark red. The thought of being in a bedroom with the boy of his dreams got him flustered. He played with his thumbs to try to keep calm, but it wasn't exactly working. Vincent could feel the other male was nervous.

"Relax, we're just hanging out," he said.

Scott nodded but was still jittery. Vincent leaned his head on Scott's shoulder. The brunet was slowly beginning to calm down. He leaned his head on Vincent's and the two just stayed like that for a while. They stayed like that until Scott spoke softly.

"I r-really l-like you."

Vincent smiled, kissing the others cheek. "I really like you too," he said.

They both smiled. Vincent moved his face closer to Scott's. The smaller male blushed. Vincent smirked as his lips met the others. Scott blushed a darker red and kissed back. The two shared a passionate kiss until there was a knock at the door. Vincent pulled back.

"Who is it?" he asked.

"It's Robbie,"

Vincent sighed. "It's my brother," he said softly. "Promise you won't freak out?" he asked.

Scott was confused but agreed.

'Why would I freak out?'

Vincent got up and let Robbie in. Scott was shocked.

'Vincent and Robbie identical twins!?'

Vincent could see the shock in the others face. "Surprise," he said quietly, looking down.

Robbie looked up. "Oh, he didn't know," he thought out loud.

Scott shook his head. Vincent sighed.

"This is Robbie, my identical twin brother, Robbie this is Scott."

Scott nodded, still in a confused and shocked state.

'What if I mix them up on accident?! What'll happen?!'

"I, uh, n-need to get home," Scott said quickly, dashing out of the room.

Vincent frowned. Robbie left the room, looking to find Scott. He caught up and grabbed his arm.

"Scott wait."

Scott pulled away. "I have to get home, Vincent."

The purple male frowned. "I'm Robbie."

Scott hid his face in his hands. "I'm sorry, I just, I have to get home."

The brunet ran back and climbed the gutter. He buried his face into the pillow and felt awful.

'I mixed them up five minutes after I met Robbie!'

He hit his face into the pillow out of frustration and guilt. He climbed back outside and climbed the tree in his front yard. Robbie walked back into the room. Vincent was lying in bed, his face buried into his pillow as far as it could possibly be. Robbie smirked.

"Your boyfriend's pretty cute~," he purred.

Vincent shot his head up. "Don't you dare!" he yelled.

Robbie continued to smirk. "Oh, relax Vincent. If he really likes you he'll know the difference."

Vincent didn't like where this conversation was going at all.

"You stay away from him!" he snapped.

Robbie rolled his eyes. "I will do as I please," he said and walked out of the room.

Vincent had a bad feeling. He didn't want his brother anywhere near Scott. He ran downstairs. He ran across the street to Scott's house. Scott was sitting in the tree that grew from his front yard when he saw the purple male. He hopped down and hid behind the trunk of the tree. He saw Vincent walk to the front door. He panicked and ran out, pulling the taller male away from the door before he could knock.

"Scott?" Vincent seemed surprised.

The smaller male pulled him behind the tree.

"You can't do that, my parents will kill me," he said.

Vincent frowned. "Sorry."

Scott hugged him, letting the taller male know it was okay.

"Sorry for running. I was, shocked, to be honest. My mind was racing and I had to clear it."

Vincent hugged him tighter. "It's okay," he said softly, "but I want you to stay away from Robbie. Don't go near him." the purple male instructed.

Scott was confused. "Why?" he asked.

Vincent looked down. "My brother is, competitive. He likes to fight for things and he likes to win. Right now, for him at least, you're the prize," he explained.

Scott felt his face heat up. He truly liked Vincent, although Robbie did seem nice, he wasn't exactly like Vincent. But Scott also wondered why Vincent's brother would want him.

'What's so special about me? I'm ordinary.'

"Why does he want me?" Scott asked quietly.

Vincent frowned. "He wants you because I have you."

Scott blushed a deep red. Hearing that he was Vincent's made him happy, but also flustered him.

"S-So he's jealous of you," he said.

Vincent nodded. "He always has been."

Scott looked at Vincent's house, a shiver coursing down his spine at the thought of Robbie.

"Robbie's done this before, hasn't he?" Scott asked, looking down.

Vincent sighed. "Just stay away from him."

Scott nodded.

Time Skip to the Next Day

Scott sat in his driveway, watching his parents car pull out. They were going out of town and leaving Scott to watch the house. The brunet didn't mind, even if it was supposed to be a punishment of sorts, he'd rather stay home anyway. He sighed, waving to his parents who just rolled their eyes and drove away. He waved to Steven who did wave back quickly. The older brother had fought to stay home with Scott, but his parents refused, saying this would be a good experience for him since he was to graduate from college soon. Scott would rather be home alone anyway.

He got up and slowly started to walk back inside, when someone called his name. He turned around quickly, only to see Vincent waving to him. He smiled and walked to him, a small blush appearing on his cheeks. He was wearing the other's jacket, which he'd grown to love. The other male hugged him, but Scott could feel a different vibe about him. Vincent didn't feel as welcoming or caring as before. He was the same, but Scott felt he was different. The purple male could sense something was wrong.

"Something wrong love~?"

Scott shivered. Vincent had been flirtatious in the past but was always stopped if he knew something was bothering Scott.

"F-Fine, just cold is all," he lied.

The purple male saw through his lies and pulled him closer. The smaller male squeaked and blushed, causing the other male to smirk.

"V-Vincent, w-what are you d-doing?" he stuttered and stumbled over his words.

The other male simply smirked. "Nothing, love~."

The brunet tried to pull away, but the other had a strong grip on him, with no intention of letting him go.

"V-Vincent! S-Stop it!"

He struggled more. The purple male crashed his lips onto the brunet's. Scott squeaked but was melting. He soon stopped himself and pushed away.

"What's your problem!?" he yelled.

"No problem, love~."

Scott huffed in frustration. Another purple male walked out.

"Scott? I thought I told you to stay away from him."

Scott was utterly confused but soon pieced the situation together.

"V-Vincent!"

He hugged the other male. He realized the male he'd been forced to kiss was Robbie. Vincent was upset.

"Stay away from Scott!" he snapped at Robbie as Scott hugged him tightly.

Robbie smirked, saying nothing as he walked back across the street. Scott hugged Vincent tighter.

"I'm sorry. I thought-"

Vincent cut him off. "It's okay. You couldn't have known," he said.

Scott nuzzled the other's neck trying to get Robbie out of his mind. Vincent sighed.

"I'll make him leave you alone before he tries anything."

Scott looked down. Vincent became worried.

"What is it?" he asked.

Scott shook his head. Vincent soon put the pieces together.

"He already tried something, didn't he?" he asked quietly.

Scott nodded. "He k-kissed me. I c-couldn't-"

Vincent cut him off by kissing him. Scott didn't struggle at all and kissed back. Scott was beginning to feel hatred towards Robbie. He didn't want to be anywhere near him. He wanted to stay with Vincent.

School soon started for the two. They had several classes together and spent most of their time out of school together as well. They eventually started officially dating. Scott hid it from his parents, but Vincent was open with his family. He made it especially clear to Robbie. Scott liked Vincent's parents. They were accepting and kind. They also liked him, which was good.

Scott and Vincent had started looking at colleges. The two had the same major choice. Knowing this they decided to be roommates. Once they had moved into the dorm they were closer than ever. Robbie left Scott alone and the two had no one separating them. They were truly together.
