The Echo Verse is poetry where (the echo) the last word(s) or syllable(s) or a homophone (a word having the same pronunciation but different meanings, origins, or spelling e.g. there, their and they're) of the line above are used as the entire (somewhat short obviously) next line.
The effect is to often change the meaning of the preceeding line in a funny, flippant or cynical or way.
Normally the poems title is the last line of the piece.
The echo is often positioned under that which it is mimicing or can be placed out beyond it.
Sometimes the word 'echo' will appear before the echo responce as one would see in an actors' script.
In the poem below I have underlined a word with the oppersite meaning of the echo. Rather than using the last line for the title I have made the poem acrostic. The echo is the opening words of the Australian National Anthem.
The poem itself relates to the boat people who take great risks to travel to our land of freedom to become imprisoned.

ANTHEM - AUST
Aliens we'd accept as Australians
Australians
None by boat can make landfall
all
To continue to deny a letdown
let
Help them is a plea continuous
us
Evermore sad over there Joyce
rejoice
Many against more just forlorn
for
- you might ask why many weep
we
Aren't we protective of our arena
are
Unaware old pay you ngultrums
young
So nor can make it to our land
and
Tied unable to smell the freesias
free
