Harshad stood, moving his weight from one foot to another. He looked through the glass at the group of people then pulled back. He couldn't do it, he wasn't ready. What if Jennifer's friends didn't like him? They were all dressed so casually, yet he had dressed up in a suit. First impressions meant everything, but would they laugh at him if they saw him dressed like this?

Jennifer looked down at her watch, surely Harshad should have been here by now? They had agreed to meet here yet she had recieved no text or call as yet. Had he backed out? She shook her head to rid herself of such negative thoughts, he wouldn't let her down that way

Harshad grimaced, this was a world he didn't know too well. It had been far too long since he had dated anyone, especially not this seriously. Meeting the friends of your partner was a monumental moment of the relationship, yet it was one of the moments he hated the most

Jennifer excused herself, she stepped outside of the restaurant, a smile lit up her face when she saw Harshad. Why hadn't he come in? "Hey" she waved

Harshad glanced up "Hey" he smiled "I just need to go home and change"

She rushed forward "What, why, you look handsome, come on" she tugged at his hand

"No, no I really don't want to, Jenny" he shook his head. Ever the introvert, he had always struggled with socialising

"Hey" she placed a hand on his cheek "Hey" her voice was a mere whisper "It's okay, I really want you to meet them, they're important to me and so are you, i'll be right by your side, you've made all this effort, you don't know what that means to me, no one else has really cared that much" her eyes glistened with tears

Harshad leant his head on hers "I don't know what's wrong with me" he chuckled softly

"Nothing, nothing is wrong with you, it's okay to be nervous, you have no idea how nervous I was when I met Harsha, but I hid it, you can do this, everyday you perform as an actor, this, this is nothing"

"But this matters" he sighed, pulling away "I'm too overdressed"

"No, this shows you want to make an impression, they'll love you, I know they will, you mean so much to me, I just want them to see that" she wrapped her arms around his waist, listening to the heavy drum of his heartbeat.

"Okay" he closed his eyes, holding her tightly to him, he wanted to make her as happy as she made him, though he thought it impossible, he wasn't willing to let her down

"Are you sure, if you're not ready, I understand" the last thing she wanted was to rush him

"I'm ready" he breathed out, the smile on her face at his answer took his breath away

Jennifer pulled back, clapping her hands "Thank you" she kissed his cheek, pulling him along she stepped in first "Guys, meet my boyfriend, Harshad"

Jennifer's group of friends all turned, smiles on their faces as they rushed forward one by one to welcome him

Harshad remained happy in the fact that she held his hand the whole time, rubbing circles on his hand with her thumb. His hands shook as he hugged people, shaking their hands, it was a constant reminder that he wasn't alone through this

"See, you're doing great" she whispered, sitting down beside him

They hastily ordered food, Jennifer leaning her chin on Harshad's shoulder to look at the menu, her eyes met Naihal's who stood up, beckoning Harshad to step outside with her

"It's great to meet you" Naihal started "You make her a very happy person, more happier than i've ever seen her in a while, I know how nerve wracking this must be, but if you've made it this far, you're doing something right" she paused

Harshad nodded "Thank you, that means a lot, coming from you, I just hope to continue making her happy" he smiled

Naihal nodded, that was all she could ask for, all she could wish to hear from him. Hopefully this was what her best friend had been waiting for. She followed him back inside, putting a thumb up at Jennifer to let her know Harshad had her approval

Jennifer clapped, pulling the chair back for Harshad to sit down again "See, you're doing great" she rubbed his thigh "They love you"

Harshad let out a breathy chuckle, kissing atop her hair "I'm not sure about that"

"I am" she replied, not missing a beat, pride crystal clear in her eyes "You did so well, parents next" she teased

Harshad paled visibly, his adam's apple moved as he gulped "Surely there is more time before"

Jennifer let out a girlish giggle "There is" she soothed "Don't worry, I don't enjoy making you this nervous, but it is adorable" she smiled at the waiter as the food was set down before them

They ate, the whole table discussing meeting again while joking around with eachother, Harshad even joined in a few times, looking away as he laughed at a joke someone had made.

Jennifer was sure he was the one. He fit so well, she couldn't wait for her loved ones to know him like she did.

The night quickly came to an end, and as they said their goodbyes, Harshad pulled off his jacket, slipping it over her shoulders as they walked outside "Do you own a coat"

She laughed, elbowing him playfully "I don't wear one on purpose, I know you'll always do this" she gestured to the jacket around her shoulders

In seconds he had lifted her up, his hands on her hips as he tickled her, making her throw her head back in fits of giggles, one hand gripping his jacket so it wouldn't fall to the floor

"Hey, what are you doing"

"Nothing" he smiled "Payback for making me so nervous and stealing my jacket"

"Hey, I stole-" she was cut off when he reached up, kissing her lips, then swung her legs around so he was carrying her properly as he continued the walk

It was the perfect end to a perfect night full of perfect people and perfect moments she would cherish forever
