Sage: broadway_crackers
Grace: me

Grace walks down the stairs with Sage close behind her, jumping over the last two. She looks to the dinner table to see her mother, father, Liberty and Daniel sat at table.

"Where's Beck and Anna gone?"she asks. Liberty points to the couch with Beck and Anna lying down on it both fast asleep and curled up together.

"Girls take a seat,"her mother says and gestures to the two the bench opposite from Liberty and Daniel. Sage and Grace share a look and pull it out then sit down. "Right care to explain how my daughter became immortal?"

"Sage you're doing this one."

"Well she found this tree with a little spring and she showed it to me and I wanted a drink of water,"Sage starts. "She tested it first and said that I can't drink it because some thing was funny about it. I then went home and she said that she tripped over hit her head on a rock and went unconscious for however long it was-,"

"You tripped over and hit your head on a rock? What did you even trip over?"Liberty cuts in.

"My own two feet. Now let me carry on with how I figured out I was immortal,"Grace replies. "I went to the park to pick some stuff up-,"

"Why were you going to the park?"

"To pick up some stuff for Ma's birthday present,"Grace replies. "Now please stop cutting me off! This woman pointed out that I had blood dripping down the back of my head and I said my brother had spilt ketchup."

"How do you spill ketchup?"

"You also don't have a younger brother."

"That's what I said!"

"The lady asked that and I ran off now quit cutting me off!"she snaps. "I went back to the spring poured some over a toad and then dropped a pebble on the toad's head and it was still alive,"she says. "So that spring makes you immortal."

"Where's That spring?"Daniel asks.

"The Foster's Woods."

"So you not only became immortal but you also trespassed?"Liberty asks and chuckles slightly at her sister, shaking her head a little bit. "Well done little sister but you're officially a moron."

"We're trespassing now, Lib,"Grace says bluntly.

"Enough!"their mother snaps. "So you're immortal? What's your plan?"

"Well leave and then come back every ten years," Grace replies and scratches the back of her neck.

Sage looks to Grace in shock with the rest of her family. Ten years? Every ten years? The next time we'd see each other is when I'm 21.

"Why ten?"

"Because, Daniel, as you told me it takes ten years to forget a face,"Grace replies and stands up. She goes to the kitchen and grabs a glass of water and sits back down.

"But I'm getting married next summer and you promised you'd be my bridesmaid!"Liberty says.

"Since when's I say that?"Grace asks confused and looks down to the table.

"When you were five and I was eight,"Liberty replies.

"That's not important, Libby! She's going to miss out on Beck and Anna's entire childhood,"their father cuts in. "They won't even know who their sister is till their fourteen."

"And I'm not letting my middle daughter leave,"their mother adds. "Grace Rose MacKay when I gave birth to you seventeen years ago I didn't think you'd become immortal and have to leave and never come back,"she sighs and takes her daughter's hand with a comforting squeeze and smile.

"Mother when you gave birth to me on the twenty second of January in 1789 in Treegap New Hampshire I'm sure you also didn't think I'd be your most troublesome child who'd kidnap a kid that's six years younger and become best friends with that kid,"Grace replies sarcastically.

"Well people will get suspicious if I'm here for hundreds of years looking the exact same!"Grace says, raising her voice slightly.

"Well at least prove that your immortal,"their mother sighs.

"Ma where's the rifle? Sage can shoot me!"Grace says and starts to run upstairs closely followed by Sage.

"In mike and your father's room!"her mother calls. Grace walks into her parent's room and starts to look through the boxes.

"You're not seriously going to let me shoot you are you?"Sage asks nervously. "Because I won't be able to forgive myself even if you can't die."

"No no don't be stupid,"Grace replies and smiles as she hears Sage sigh in relief. "I'm letting my sister shoot me she's got good aim."

"At least it ain't me,"Sage shrugs.

"Yeah you've got horrible aim. Now come on let's go,"Grace says and pulls out the rifle with some bullets. The girls run downstairs as Grace loads the rifle.

"Alright let's go outside Lib can shoot me."

Sage opens the door for the family and slips on their shoes. Grace takes a few steps away from her family and Sage so that they're a few feet from the house.

Grace shoved her hands into her and hears a bang and feels a bullet penetrate her chest. She jogs back to her family with a grin on her face.

"Yeah didn't feel a thing,"she comments and clicks her tongue against the roof of her mouth as her family and Sage stare at her blankly.

"What'd ya know,"Libby mutters as they sit back down and Grace tries to get the bullet out.

"So when do you plan on leaving?"her father asks and hands his middle child a knife to get the bullet out with.

"Probably next week or something,"Grace shrugs and flicks the bullet out into her hand." I'll visit every ten years or something like that,"she shrugs.

"You seem awfully calm about it."Sage notes.

"I ain't much of a religious person but if the world wants this to happen I won't question,"the older girl replies.

"Well then off to bed. I expect your tired since it's late,"her mother mumbles.

"And a little bit hungry,"Sage says.

"I got some food in my room," Grace replies and stands up with Sage. She quickly walks over to the couch and picks up Beck. "You take Anna,"she mouths. Sage nods and picks up the small girl as they both go upstairs.

Grace tucks them both into bed and lights her match with the box of matches on her bedside table.

"Why do you never clean your room?"Sage asks. "It's still the same mess as it was a year ago."

"I'll clean it whenever I get round to it I've got forever after all,"she jokes and starts to dig around underneath her bed.

She pulls out a small music box and presents it to Sage. "This is what I wanted to show you,"she says and opens the lid. She winds it up and places it on the bed in front of where Sage was sat. "And here's some food,"she adds and places a bowl of fruit in front of Sage.

Sage listens to the music box play it's tune gently and smiles at it as she eats the fruit. It was so calming and beautiful. The silver painted box with the space in it with a mirror on the lid. "It's beautiful, Grace."

"And it's yours,"Grace adds and closes the lid again. "My going away present for you to remember me by."

"I-I couldn't,"Sage replies and picks up the box.

"Yes you can. I will force you to keep it if I have to."

"Well thanks then,"Sage says and places the bowl of fruit back on the bedside table as Grace sorts out a makeshift bed for herself.

"Well good night then."

"Yeah night Sage,"the immortal girl sighs and lies down in her makeshift bed and blows out the candle.

A few moments of silence pass between the girls before Sage asks, "you're gonna visit me every year right?"

"As long as you don't have a new partner in crime,"Grace replies with a small smile.

"Like I ever would."
