I was in a mental prison.

It was dark and my body was light and groggy. My breathing was slowed to a faint beat. I was falling slowly it seemed, or rather sinking. There was nothing but darkness. The faint voices of the outside world, I had heard through muffled sounds. And then when it stopped I panicked. And as soon as I did, I began to suffocate. The water rushed into my mouth, my nose, my lungs. I coughed out the remainder of my Oxygen and I continued to violently grasp at my neck. I clawed and clawed until I saw a faint light from underneath me.

But no use trying to swim there, my eyes were squinting and the light was blurring, when I finally realized I was slipping out of consciousness.

And maybe forever.

I kicked hard and swam down to the light, stopping in front of a door. It was golden and had a large carving of an angel.

I didn't know what to do. I reached towards the door, and pushed it open with my shoulder. I continued to push until it cracked open slightly, and I felt myself slowly being drawn to the light. I was weak and the light was warm and peaceful.

But the good feelings didn't last. I heard an angelic voice from the darkness.

"Natsu!" It said. A females voice was calling me. Then it finally clicked.

Lucy!

"Natsu!"

Wait Lucy I'm coming! I'll be right there!

With my remaining strength, I pushed myself out of the light and towards the dark. With only Lucy's voice to guide me.

Smoke

I woke up, sprawled on the ground. There was burning debris from what looked like a carriage. I shakily took a good look at my surroundings. I saw Gray unconscious, and hovering over Juvia's small body. Gray had a large cut on his back, more than likely from the planks of splintered wood. I saw Gajeel crawling weakly towards Levy who was backed up against a tree. Her head hung low. Gajeel suddenly coughed and winced for a moment.

I called out his name, a low, raspy sound, but either he didn't hear me, or he was too focused on Levy.

Then I felt another surge of nausea.

Where's Lucy? Is she okay? Did she survive?

My breathing sped up as the gears in my head began to turn as I scanned the crime scene. I noticed a large metal sphere that seemed to be forced into the center of the rubble.

A canonball...

It must be Igneel's doing.

Which means that Lucy is missing because Igneel took her!

"IGNEEL!" I screamed.

Then, out if the blue, I saw the man who I once looked up to, the man before me was holding an unconscious Lucy. Her head lolled, and there was a trail of blood connecting from her temple, down to her cheek.

"Lucy! What the hell did you do to her?" He only chuckled. A low, throaty sound, that sent shivers up my spine.

Even at full strength, I couldn't beat Igneel in a physical fight. He was stronger, faster, and smarter. He had every single advantage. On top of that, I was weak, nauseous, and my throat burned from the smoke.

I forced my legs to lift me up. But my knees buckled and I fell back down. I grunted and attempted again, but Igneel was fast to gain on me. He had dropped Lucy where he stood, and made his way over to me, a look of disgust sprawled across his face. I breathed hard.

"Igne-" I tried to say, but was cut off by a strong force coming from my left side.

He kicked me.

"How could you possibly even think that you are any match or me. If it wasn't for that stupid Pure, you would've married Lissana! And I wouldn't have to kill you!"

I held my torso, and winced in pain.

"You bastard, that Pure was the best thing that ever happened to me-" I said, earning another kick. Pain seared again, blinding dots of white dances across my vision. I felt him punch me across the cheek, as I spat out blood. I feebly attempted to get up again, but he placed one foot square on my back. I thrashed and kicked, only to be met with a heel Digging into my spine.

I cried out in pain.

"You are nothing. And nothing, deserves nothing!"

My vision blurred, but I could barely make out Lucy, who was limp and weak, trudging up from behind Igneel with a metal rod. She swung the rod directly at Igneel's head. The impact causing Igneel's eyes to roll I the back of his head.

But he got up again. Weakly, he stumbled to his feet as I took the opportunity to rush to my feet and punch him straight into the ground, leaving a crater.

I saw blood leak down from his mouth and he finally stopped moving.

I looked up at Lucy who had tears in her eyes. She hobbled over to me, and held me in a tight embrace.

"Natsu... You idiot..." She managed between sobs. "...I love you..."

I grinned like a madman, and replied happily.

"I love you so much it hurts."

"Nah, I'm pretty sure that was Igneel." I looked up to see Juvia supporting Gray, and Levy on Gajeel's back.

"So what now, Flame Brain?" Asked Gray.

"We go where the road takes us." Lucy answered for me. I looked back at her, and smiled warmly.

"I'm all fired up."

Epilogue:

5 years later

A month after we escaped, We had found an uncharted area where there were people.

Not Pures

Not Impures

Just people.

They kindly welcomed us into their home, where we were cared for immediately.

Through the next year, we built a home together, Lucy and I. It was a cozy home with a fireplace and a chimney for the winters, and an open spaced home with plenty of windows.

Lucy had actually cried when we were finished. She was so happy.

And right then and there, I knelt down and proposed.

You can imagine what happened next.

A grand wedding in celebration of our union.

Shortly after, Gray and Juvia were married and then Gajeel and Levy.

I was the best man at Grays wedding surprisingly enough. And Lucy was Maid of Honor twice.

Around that same time I had noticed Lucy had been acting strangely and out of character. She was more emotional and sobbed when she was happy. But her appetite was worse than mine. And her cravings were strange.

Who eats fire!?

Anyways when I confronted her about it, she said she was pregnant with a girl.

And that baby girl is you my little Nashi.

We had faced our fears and we moved forward. I love your mother and I love you.
