FADE IN:

INT. JIMIN'S ROOM – NIGHT

Tae Hyung stares at the celling, lying on Jimin's bed, frowning. Jimin seated on the floor watches the news on the wall mounted TV.

REPORTER: It's day one of the ACRC Investigations into The Golden Feather scandal, involving the Minister of Employment and Labor, Mr. Kim Min Won. Commissioner Kang Jong Baek promised to deliver the truth-

JIMIN: How are you still alive after this?

Tae Hyung doesn't reply.

JIMIN: Wasn't it your job to stop such things from happening?

TAE HYUNG: Yes.

JIMIN: The minister's going to kill you.

TAE HYUNG: I know.

REPORTER: The scandal was first exposed by the online news portal, the Labyrinth.

JIMIN: Oh! I've heard of that website.

Tae Hyung shuts both his ears with pillows. Jimin grabs his laptop, pulling it open he types into the search engine.

JIMIN: Labyrinth.

His eyes widen as he scrolls through the website.

JIMIN: Wah. This is so cool.

Tae Hyung moves the pillows away from his ears looking at Jimin.

JIMIN: This website investigates all sorts of things - drug rings, human trafficking, organ trafficking, missing person cases, institutionalized corruption.

Jimin's impressed.

JIMIN: It's no wonder the reporters are anonymous. Imagine the number of people that want them dead.

TAE HYUNG: Should I just die?

Jimin looks at him and stares for a few moments.

JIMIN: Yes, good idea. Goodbye.

Tae Hyung's face reads - what did I expect? He looks back at the celling sighing heavily.

TAE HYUNG: What do I do now?

JIMIN: What else? Hide. Don't let the minister find you.

TAE HYUNG: Why do I come to you for ideas?

JIMIN: Oh right, I almost forgot? How's Mr. Ahn's case going?

TAE HYUNG: Don't ask.

JIMIN: You should just let the police find him. You've been searching for him for a month now, no wonder why you missed such a big scandal.

TAE HYUNG: How can I stop? He's being framed for murders.

Jimin waves his hand, moving on from the topic.

JIMIN: You should just quit and find another job. I'm very sure the minister won't miss you.

Tae Hyung, fuming, throws a pillow hitting Jimin square in the face.

CUT TO:

INT. Y/N'S APARTMENT – NIGHT

Y/N: Cheers!

She's seated on the floor along with Jungkook, who's watching her with knowing air. Y/n picks up a can of beer and brings it to her lips, eager to gulp it down when Jungkook pulls it away.

JUNGKOOK: You've had enough.

Y/n sighs, swaying, very drunk. Her eyes barely open.

Y/N: Ya... this is my celebratory party!

JUNGKOOK: You have work tomorrow.

Y/N: We'll worry about tomorrow, tomorrow. Today we're going to celebrate our Labyrinth topping the real – time search word ranking!

She claps, and does not stop. Jungkook holds her arms down stopping for her.

JUNGKOOK: I want to celebrate too, but I don't want...

He starts to get emotional; his body stiffens.

JUNGKOOK: I really... I really don't want to see you vomit; I get nightmares.

Y/n almost falls back, oblivious to his confession.

Y/N: Ya... do you know why I became a reporter?

Jungkook rolls his eyes.

Y/N: When I was a fetus- no... wait... that's too early-

Jungkook grabs the pillows from the couch and places it behind her.

Y/N: It was when I was 13...

She loses consciousness, Jungkook watches her land on the pillows, a little impressed with himself. He pulls of the throw blanket from the couch and covers Y/n.

JUNGKOOK: Congratulations and good night, Ms. Labyrinth.

Smiling he picks up his messenger bag and steps out of the tiny apartment, closing the self-locking door behind him.

CUT TO:

EXT. CONVINIENCE STORE – NIGHT

Tae Hyung, seated outside at a table, opens a can of beer. He's had a tough day. Y/n stumbles toward his table. She falls onto the chair opposite to Tae Hyung, who's unsettled by the stranger's intrusion. Not noticing Tae Hyung, she drops her head on the table.

TAE HYUNG: Excuse me?

Tae Hyung stares at her indifferently.

TAE HYUNG: Ugh...

He leans closer, reaching his hand out to tap her when she sits up straight, taking him by surprise.

Y/N: Why're you sitting at my table?

Tae Hyung is bemused.

TAE HYUNG: Um... I should be the one asking you that.

Y/N [YELLS]: This is my table!

Tae Hyung is unamused.

Y/N: Who gave you permission to sit here?!

TAE HYUNG: Why do I need permi-

Y/N: Go! This is not your table! Get Up! Move!

TAE HYUNG: Why should I? I was here first-

He gets defensive ready to argue the whole night if he has to.

Y/N: Do you think that matters? If I buy a house, you've already lived in before, does it still make it yours?

TAE HYUNG: Wah! How is that the same? It's not even like your name is written on this or anything!

Y/N: It is!

Her finger jabs the messy carving on the edge of the plastic table, reading - Y/n.

Y/N: Bye Bye!

She waves, Tae Hyung scoffs.

TAE HYUNG: Wah...

This argument was lost too easily. Genuinely upset, he stands and storms away.

CUT TO:

EXT. STREET – NIGHT

TAE HYUNG: Today is definitely not my day. Aish!

He stops at the sidewalk, waiting to cross the street, fuming with anger. His phone rings, ripping it out of his pocket he answers.

TAE HYUNG: Hello.

He listens, subconsciously crossing the cross walk. Vehicles whipping past him. His expressions falling the more he listens, his pace suddenly slowing down.

TAE HYUNG: What?

He comes to a halt, the sounds muffling around him. He can't focus. He doesn't hear the vehicles honking nor does he see the car speeding in on him.

TAE HYUNG: Are you sure?

Just in time, an arm grabs him pulling him back and the car speeds ahead. Tae Hyung caught unawares looks around blankly. He looks at the hand holding him. Looking up his eyes find Y/n's. Onlookers mutter their concerns.

Y/N: Are you crazy?!

Tae Hyung is still lost.

Y/N: Ya?! What were you thinking?!

TAE HYUNG: Huh?

He snaps into reality, finally becoming aware of his surroundings. He steps out of her grip.

TAE HYUNG: Thank... You....

Y/n takes a deep breath, collecting herself.

Y/N: Are you okay?

Tae Hyung nods.

TAE HYUNG: Thank You.

Y/n nods.

Y/N: Be careful next time.

TAE HYUNG: Yes... I will.

Y/n nods and walks back to the sidewalk, bringing her phone up to her ear.

Y/N [INTO HER PHONE]: Yes, I'm here and I'm on my way. Don't let him out of your sight.

CUT TO:

INT. LABYRINTH OFFICE – DAY

Y/n comes pounding into the office, with a frown. A colleague standing by a large bookcase, notices her down mood.

YOONGI: What's wrong?

Y/n throws her bag aside.

Y/N: Don't ask.

She plonks herself onto her chair, and whines.

YOONGI: What is it? You're rarely like this.

Y/N: Do we have any new cases?

Yoongi walks calmly over to her. He places a file on her desk.

YOONGI: Drangon467 requested a missing persons case.

Y/n opens and reads it.

Y/N: Mr. Ahn Jung Joon, the lead suspect of the Jigsaw serial murders?

She beams.

YOONGI: He's been missing for a month. The detectives on the case already think he's dead.

Y/n's index finger traces a line in the file.

Y/N: Worked as an advisor for multiple politicians. [looks up] Obviously, politics has to be involved.

YOONGI: This is going to be a tough one.

Y/N: Hopefully.

She stands and walks toward the exit.

YOONGI: You need a partner.

Y/n stops, turning on her heels.

Y/N: Again, with that... I don't need a partner. I work best alone.

YOONGI: Investigating on your own is dangerous.

Y/N: That's called being a journalist.

Y/n flashes a smile and exits.

CUT TO:

INT. KIM TAE HYUNG'S ROOM – DAY

Tae Hyung is lost reading his board, covered with missing flyers of Mr. Ahn, his last whereabouts, his call records. He rubs his yes pushing the board into his closet. He plops down on his bed, exhausted.

TAE HYUNG: Where is he?

The door opens after a knock, a butler peeks in.

BUTLER: The minister wants to see you.

TAE HYUNG: Yes, thank You.

CUT TO:

INT. KIM MIN WON'S OFFICE – KIM RESIDENCE – DAY

The minister, Kim Min Won, stares out his window seated at his huge luxurious desk. The room looks more like a trophy room – with photographs of him with every world leader from here to Timbuktu, than a home office. Tae Hyung slowly pushes open the door and slides in.

TAE HYUNG: Dad...

His father stares at him, suppressing his anger.

TAE HYUNG: I'm sorry dad...It was my job to stop this from happening. I...I'm sorry.

MIN WON: What should I do with your apology?

Tae Hyung stares at his feet.

TAE HYUNG: I'm sorry.

His father takes a deep breath.

MIN WON: What's done is done. Take care of it.

Tae Hyung bows.

TAE HYUNG: I will make it disappear dad.

CUT TO:

INT. KIM TAE HYUNG'S ROOM – DAY

Tae Hyung spins his phone on his right middle finger as he enters his room. His mood changes seeing a tall, imperious looking man seated on the couch.

TAE HYUNG: Hyung.

Nam Joon gestures him to shut the door behind him as he walks to Tae Hyung with a file in hand. He eyes his surroundings as if he's not supposed to be here.

NAM JOON: It wasn't easy.

Tae Hyung takes the file.

TAE HYUNG: You found the reporter.

NAM JOON: Seo Y/n. She's the most elusive journalist in South Korea. She's been successful in hiding her identity as the founder of Labyrinth, more than you have been able to hide your blood relations.

Tae Hyung reads through the file, speechless.

NAM JOON: The only reason you have this information is because Ho Seok is good at his job.

TAE HYUNG: She's the real face of Labyrinth?

NAM JOON: If anyone can help you find Mr. Ahn, it's her.

TAE HYUNG: Thanks, Hyung.

NAM JOON: Do you really want to work with Y/n, who runs the same website that exposed your father's scandal?

TAE HYUNG: That's exactly why I want to work with her.

NAM JOON: How was the meeting with the minister?

TAE HYUNG: The usual. Thanks again Hyung.

Nam Joon nods and exits. Tae Hyung stares at the photograph of Y/n, gob smacked.

CUT TO:

EXT. STREET – EVENING

Y/n is busy scribbling into her notebook observing her surroundings. Her phone rings, annoyed by the interruption she curses under her breath and answers the call.

Y/N: Hello.

? [OVER THE PHONE]: Hello.

Y/n's attention is grabbed. All of it, surprised by the caller's initiative.

Y/N: Who's this?

? [OVER THE PHONE]: We should meet.

Y/N: If you're not telling I'm cutting the call.

? [OVER THE PHONE]: I know you run Labyrinth.

Y/N: How did you find me?

? [OVER THE PHONE]: We can talk about that when we meet in person. DanBam, Itaewon, 6pm.

The call gets disconnected. Y/n smiles.

Y/N: Kim Tae Hyung, Minister Kim's secret weapon, wants to meet up, this is going to be interesting.

CUT TO:

INT. DANBAM PUB - ITAEWON – DAY

Y/n crosses her arms, seated at a table. She impatiently waits, studying the people in the pub, soon bored, she pulls out her phone and scrolls through it. Tae Hyung pulls out the chair and sits.

TAE HYUNG: Ms. Seo Y/n.

Y/N: Mr. Kim Tae Hyung.

Y/n inspects him with a blank gaze.

TAE HYUNG: You know who I am.

How do you know what only a handful of people know? – he hides his astonishment.

TAE HYUNG: I hope you haven't ordered yet.

Y/N: We aren't here to dine, now, are we?

TAE HYUNG: Your secret is exposed. But you don't seem very afraid.

Y/n smiles.

Y/N: I'm not going to take your father's video down.

TAE HYUNG: I'm not here because of my father's scandal. I don't care about that.

Interesting, there's something more important than your father's scandal – It's Y/n's turn to hide her astonishment.

Y/N: How did you find me?

TAE HYUNG: Through a friend.

Y/N: I want the name.

TAE HYUNG: Why? Are you going to kill him?

Y/N: So, it's a him.

She sips her water. Tae Hyung inhales sharply getting down to business.

TAE HYUNG: I need your help.

Y/N: With?

TAE HYUNG: Ahn Jung Joon. He's been missing for a month. The detectives have already deduced he committed suicide and are only waiting to find his body.

Y/N: But you don't think so. You want me to investigate.

TAE HYUNG: Yes. And I want to investigate with you.

Y/n stares at him giving a sense she's actually considering. He feels confident.

Y/N: No.

Tae Hyung's face drops.

TAE HYUNG: No?

Y/N: No.

TAE HYUNG: Why?!

Y/N: I work alone.

TAE HYUNG: But this is important to me, I need-

Y/N: I hope you find him.

She stands. Tae Hyung follows.

TAE HYUNG: Why won't you take this case?

Y/N: It's not that I'm not taking this case, it's just I don't want to work with you.

Tae Hyung is affronted.

TAE HYUNG: Ahn sonbae is very important to me. Someone's framing him and I need to stop that.

Y/N: Look, to work with me you need to be brave. There's a reason for why I'm an anonymous reporter.

Tae Hyung shifts on his feet.

Y/N: And brave, by far is the kindest word for stupid. I don't work like the other reporters; danger doesn't stop me. I definitely don't want to be responsible for any one let alone a minister's son. Goodbye.

She smiles and heads out. Tae Hyung sits back in his chair, lost in thought.

CUT TO:

INT. Y/N'S APARTMENT – NIGHT

Stepping out of the bathroom, in her night clothes, Y/n wraps her wet hair in a towel, and sits on the couch. She opens her laptop and types Kim Tae Hyung into the Barro search engine.

Y/N: Mr. Ahn worked for your father but why is he so important to you?

She scrolls through his social media posts. Tae Hyung's posts are all regular, they don't divulge his lineage or his power. Y/n zips through multiple posts when a photograph catches her attention. She zooms in.

Y/N: Daebak.

She stares at the photograph, her brain and heart pounding and a million thoughts racing through her head.

CUT TO:

INT. GRAND HYATT HOTEL - INCHEON – DAY

grand Hyatt, Incheon

Tae Hyung bows, biding goodbye to the directors he had an appointment with earlier. He watches the directors leave, his fake submissive personality dropping.

TAE HYUNG: 2 down, 3 to go.

He runs his fingers through his hair. Turning around, he freezes seeing Y/n... moping the floors.

TAE HYUNG: Wha-What is she doing here?

He approaches Y/n.

TAE HYUNG: Hi.

Y/n continues mopping, ignoring him.

TAE HYUNG: What are you doing?

Y/N: I'm working.

TAE HYUNG: I can see that.

He looks at the mop.

Y/N: Do you need something?

TAE HYUNG: I'd love for you to investigate with me.

Y/n sighs.

Y/N: I'm busy, I'll call you later.

She puts the mop away, her gaze fixed on a particular man, in a brown suit walking toward the elevators. Y/n looks at Tae Hyung.

Tae Hyung: What?

Y/N: Go find which room that man is headed to.

Tae Hyung follows her gaze and sees the man waiting for the elevators.

TAE HYUNG: You want me to follow that man? Why?

Y/N: Don't ask questions. Go before we lose him.

Tae Hyung is not interested.

Y/N: That's why I don't work with other people.

TAE HYUNG: Ok. Ok. Chill.

He dusts off his suit as he walks to the elevators. He nods to the man still waiting for one. PING! The elevator doors slide open and the two men enter. She starts pushing Tae Hyung.

CUT TO:

INT. 6th FLOOR CORRIDOR - GRAND HYATT HOTEL - INCHEON – DAY

Tae Hyung discreetly follows the man, who suspects nothing. He pretends to have reached his room and watches the man enter room number 603. Tae Hyung pulls out his phone and calls Y/n.

TAE HYUNG: He's in room 603.

Y/N [OVER THE PHONE]: Good, now wait there and barge into his room in exactly 5 minutes.

TAE HYUNG: Ok. Wait, what?

Y/N [OVER THE PHONE]: Barge in. I need you inside the room.

TAE HYUNG: WHY?!

CUT TO:

INT. WASHROOM - GRAND HYATT HOTEL - INCHEON – DAY

Y/n puts on fake eyebrows.

Y/N [INTO PHONE]: I told you, no questions.

She presses down on the fake skin at the corners of her eyes and lips, which give her wrinkles, making her look 20 years older.

TAE HYUNG [OVER THE PHONE]: How do you expect me to get in?

Y/N: Pretend you're drunk. Wait for exactly 5 minutes and barge in.

She cuts the call and drops her phone in her bag.

CUT TO:

INT. 6TH FLOOR CORRIDOR – GRAND HYATT HOTEL - INCHEON – DAY

Tae Hyung picks up a beer can from the house keeping cart and pours it on his shirt. He reads his watch.

TAE HYUNG: Time for action.

He reaches room 603. Taking a deep breath and getting into character, he knocks on the door. As soon as the door opens, he forces his way inside.

MAN: Hey!

CUT TO:

INT. ROOM 603 - GRAND HYATT HOTEL - INCHEON – DAY

Tae Hyung stumbles and sways.

TAE HYUNG: My man! I was waiting for you!

MAN: Who are you? Get out!?

Tae Hyung hugs him.

TAE HYUNG: How was your flight?!

MAN: Get out!

He pushes Tae Hyung away.

TAE HYUNG: You got some wine?

He looks around the room.

MAN: What the hell are you doing in my room!? Get out!

Tae Hyung finds a bottle and beams.

TAE HYUNG: Come! Let's have a drink!

He stumbles back to the man.

MAN: Get out before I call the security!

TAE HYUNG: Come, have a glass with me.

He pours himself a glass, the man snatches it away.

MAN: Do you have a death wish?

Tae Hyung chuckles. His gaze lands on the flooring, drops of blood on the marble floor, making his face fall for a second.

?: What's going on?

The man turns to see a middle-aged woman, the concierge, framed by the doorway.

CONCIERGE: Is there a problem?

MAN: Yes! This man barged into my room!

It takes extreme observation for Tae Hyung to realize that the concierge is Y/n, perfectly disguised. Y/n glances at Tae Hyung, even the way she stands is different.

Y/N: I'll take care of it, right away.

She approaches Tae Hyung, who's a little distracted seeing her.

Y/N: Sir! Sir!

He's amazed at how different she looks with the wig and not to mention the make-up, aging her drastically.

Y/N: Sir, you need to come out with me...

She leans closer to Tae Hyung, who's gestures to the floor. Y/n notices the blood drops too. She reaches for his elbow and accidently knocks over the napkin from the table. She picks it up and puts it back on the table.

Y/N: Sir! You have to come with me!

TAE HYUNG: Hey Jack, what is she talking about?

MAN: I'm not Jack.

Y/N [WHISPERS]: Throw the wine on me.

Tae Hyung hesitates, she signals him to do it quickly. Grabbing the bottle again he empties it on Y/n.

Y/N: OH MY GOD!

She pretends she didn't see it coming. Tae Hyung laughs.

MAN: Holy-

Y/n grabs the napkins from the table to clean herself. She dabs the napkins on her uniform and turns to the man.

Y/N: I'm so sorry Sir. I'll have all of this cleared up right away.

She looks at the wine spilt on the floor and the carpet.

MAN: Ugh... Thanks.

Y/n holds out her hand gesturing Tae Hyung toward the door.

Y/N: Sir, you need to leave. You're not welcome here.

TAE HYUNG: But he's, my friend!

Y/n pretends to clean her uniform with the many napkins she's holding.

Y/N: Sir, please follow me. Your friend is in another room.

Glad to hear about his friend, Tae Hyung follows Y/n out of the door. The man looks at the mess.

MAN: What the hell.

CUT TO:

INT. PARKING LOT - GRAND HYATT HOTEL - INCHEON – DAY

Tae Hyung leans against the wall. The elevator pings and the doors open and Y/n walks out with the phone to her ear, looking like her original self.

Y/N: Yes. Blood stains on the floor.

She ignores Tae Hyung, following behind.

Y/N: I got the blood sample and a half-eaten sandwich. We should be able to identify both of them [listens] yeah [listens] okay, bye.

She cuts the call. Tae Hyung catches up with her.

TAE HYUNG: He had guns.

Y/n stops – You noticed the guns under the magazines?

Y/N: What type?

TAE HYUNG: A Glock 19 and a P320 compact.

Y/n nods unlocking her car door.

TAE HYUNG: What was all of that about?

Opens the car door and throws her bag in.

Y/N: You don't need to know. All you do need to know is yes.

She sits in the driver's seat.

TAE HYUNG: Yes what?

Y/N: I'll work with you.

She shuts the door and drives away, Tae Hyung watches awe struck.

CUT TO:

INT. TAE HYUNG'S CAR – AFTERNOON

Seated in his parked car, Tae Hyung constantly switches glances between his watch and the passers-by on the sidewalk. It's been 3 days since Y/n agreed to work with him but she's been unreachable the whole time. This changed 2 hours ago. He picks up his phone and reads the message from her, again.

TAE HYUNG: She said 2.30-

The passenger side door opens, and Y/n climbs in.

TAE HYUNG: Oh. Hi.

He smiles, which goes unnoticed by Y/n who's focused on the job in hand.

Y/N: Your mentor, he met with a Mr. Justin Park, 6 times before he went AWOL.

TAE HYUNG: Never heard of him. Who is he?

CRASH! They both duck instinctively. The car, parked a few feet ahead, crushed from the top, on which lies a bleeding man.

TAE HYUNG: What the?

Y/n leaps out the car.

CUT TO:

EXT. STREET – AFTERNOON

Y/n is eyeing her surroundings, looking in all directions. She pushes herself through the people around the car, behind Tae Hyung pursues.

LADY: Oh my God.

Y/n recognizes the body. She grabs her glasses from her backpack and wears it. She touches a tiny button on the side of the frame activating a secret camera and very cautiously records her surroundings.

Y/N: Oh my God! Is he dead?!

She blends in with the crowd, acting startled by the incident.

TAE HYUNG: Are you okay?

Y/n wraps her hand around his elbow, taking him by surprise.

Y/N: This so scarry. Oh, my God.

Tae Hyung looks at her in bewilderment.

Y/N: Let's get out of here. This is just... [shakes her head]

Tae Hyung walks out of the crowd, with Y/n clinging on to him. As they get away from the crowd and closer to Tae Hyung's car, Y/n lets go of his arm. She stops and looks at him concerned.

Y/N: You wanted to know who Justin Park was...

TAE HYUNG: Yeah.

Y/N: That's him.

Tae Hyung stares at her - What?

He looks back at the smashed car. PING! PING! Both of their phones receive a message notification. Tae Hyung reads his message, so does Y/n.

TAE HYUNG: I'm next.

Y/n looks up from her phone.

Y/N: We're next.

FADE OUT.
