EXT. ALLEY – MORNING

Y/n and Tae Hyung's eyes widen with horror as they recognize the murderer...

TAE HYUNG: Sonbae? -

Y/n pulls him back.

Y/N: Stay quiet.

Tae Hyung can't even blink, he shakes scared of what he has seen – Is he really a killer?

Y/n peers out again, making sure Mr. Ahn has left, she turns back to Tae Hyung, who's trying to stay on his feet.

Y/N: You need to get out of here.

Her words fly over his head.

Y/N: Tae Hyung you need to hurry.

He rubs his temples trying to slow down the speed of his racing thoughts.

Y/N: I'll take care of things here-

TAE HYUNG: I-I'm going.

He stumbles back to his car. Y/n quickly puts on her mask and gloves. Pulling out her phone, she confidently strides in to the alley and starts taking pictures of the crime scene.

In her element now, Y/n expertly scans her surroundings. She squats next to the dead body. A strong smell starts irritating her, it's coming from the victim's hair.

Y/N: She was at a spa. (sniffs) Expensive spa.

She goes through the victim's pockets and finds an envelope. She opens it and pulls out the content: it's an ultrasound image. Y/n's face falls - She was pregnant.

She replaces it in the envelope and slides it back into the pocket. She stands, getting into character.

Y/N: Help! A person is hurt! Help! Help! Someone!

CUT TO:

InT. REDEYE TECH BUILDING – NIGHT

Tae Hyung still shaken, and haunted, slowly swivels round his chair. Nam Joon, Ho Seok and Jimin stare at the screen, displaying Y/n's witness statement.

HO SEOK [READS]: She was meeting an informant when the murder took place. She was alone, it happened too quick and she didn't get a chance to see the murderer.

TAE HYUNG: Any cameras we need to take care of?

NAM JOON: None.

He crosses his arms.

NAM JOON: The police bought this-

Y/N: I'm great, aren't I?

All heads turn to see Y/n walk in.

JIMIN: How did you know he was here?

Y/N: Is that really surprising?

She comes to a halt.

Y/N: We haven't met.

JIMIN: Hi, I'm Jimin, Tae Hyung's best friend.

Y/N: Hi. I'm Y/n. Nice to meet you.

She turns to Tae Hyung.

Y/N: Mr. Ahn.

Tae Hyung stands.

Y/N: I think my job here is done.

Tae Hyung nods.

Y/N: He's revealed himself, so you can track him on your own from here on. You don't need my help anymore, right?

Tae Hyung starts walking to Y/n.

TAE HYUNG: Yes. Thanks for helping me.

He extends his hand, offering a handshake, to officially end the partnership.

TAE HYUNG: We'll take it from here.

Y/n shakes his hand.

Y/N: This never happened.

Tae Hyung nods. Y/n withdraws her hand and bows to everyone. Tae Hyung watches her leave.

JIMIN: That's it? This is how it ends?

TAE HYUNG: What?

JIMIN: You're letting her leave? Aren't you-

TAE HYUNG: I don't know what you're talking about.

He walks past Jimin who's seen him block people out like this before.

JIMIN: Okay...

CUT TO:

INT. LABYRINTH OFFICE – DAY

Y/n, sitting on her desk, reads the murder victim's folder.

Y/N: She handled Mr. Ahn's secret accounts. Why didn't I figure that out sooner? Aish.

She checks the time on her phone – 10 am.

Jungkook, Yoongi and Jin walk in not surprised to see her.

YOONGI: Are you that determined to be sleep deprived?

Y/N: Hello to you too. Why are you all late?

She glares at them.

JUNGKOOK: We have lives out of work too you know.

Y/n smiles.

JIN: About Mr. Ahn's case.

Y/N: Tae Hyung will continue his own investigation. We'll continue ours.

JUNGKOOK: You should have told him-

Y/N: Don't. I'm busy.

YOONGI: Anyways, this came for you.

He hands her a parcel.

JIN: Nam Gil sent gifts for all of us. You never got to open yours.

Y/N: Nice.

She puts it in a drawer. Her phone rings.

Y/N: Speaking of the devil. (Answers) Hello, soon to be father.

NAM GIL [OVER PHONE]: I wish. How are you?

Y/N [INTO PHONE]: I'm great. What about you? Are you taking good care of Unnie?

NAM GIL [OVER PHONE]: Of course, I am. Belated congratulations on Labyrinth topping the keyword charts! I mailed you your gift.

Y/N [INTO PHONE]: Thanks. Now, why is the Director of Choi Group calling me?

NAM GIL [OVER PHONE]: I'm near your office, let's have lunch. My treat.

Meanwhile, Jungkook's attention is caught by the autopsy report on the screen.

JUNGKOOK: Y/n.

She follows his gaze to the computer screen.

Y/N [INTO THE PHONE]: Yes, see you there. Bye.

She steps closer to the screen and reads it.

JUNGKOOK: The charred body found yesterday morning on the Han River bridge has been identified.

Y/N: It's Mr. Ahn.

JIN: So, the missing persons case is solved. We found Mr. Ahn.

Y/n reads and rereads the DNA report – It's over.

CUT TO:

INT. REDEYE TECH BUILDING – EVENING

Tae Hyung is devastated reading through the same autopsy report.

TAE HYUNG: It's over.

CUT TO:

INT. SANDWICH BAR – AFTERNOON

Y/n walks in, she smiles at Choi Nam Gil, seated near the entrance. He stands.

Y/N: Was I so late?

She looks at his drink.

NAM GIL: No, I bumped into someone I knew.

Y/N: Let me guess, Mr. Park?

NAM GIL: You know everything about me.

They sit, facing each other. She eyes his drink in disgust.

Y/N: You never get the right one.

NAM GIL: I heard about the case you were working on. Mr. Ahn. Right?

Y/n nods.

NAM GIL: I was hurt when Jin was the one who told me you were working with your crush. Why didn't you tell me?

Y/N: Why does everyone keep bringing him up like that? There's nothing between us.

NAM GIL: Ok. Ok. Chill.

Y/n sighs, looking outside.

NAM GIL: I wanted to ask you something.

Y/N: No.

NAM GIL: You haven't heard it yet-

Y/N: I'm not coming.

NAM GIL: You have to come to family dinner this Sunday.

Y/N: I said no.

NAM GIL: You never come! Think about us too.

Y/N: I'm busy! It's not that I don't love you. Whenever you all are busy do I poke my nose?

NAM GIL: No.

Y/N: My answer stays the same.

NAM GIL: Why? I'm going to be there too.

Y/n shakes her head. Nam Gil stares at her, a waiter arrives and places a tray of food in front of Y/n.

Y/N: How did you know egg drop sandwich is my new favorite?

NAM GIL: I'm closer to you than your own siblings, of course I know.

Y/N: Of course, you do.

They fist bump. Y/n takes a deep breath.

Y/N: Fine.

Nam Gil brightens at the possible meaning of those words.

Y/N: I'll come to dinner.

NAM GIL: You won't regret your decision.

Y/N: Leave that, how's the fertility treatment going?

NAM GIL: It's going well. Tell me about Labyrinth topping the news source list.

They get excited like school kids.

INT. REDEYE TECH BUILDING – EVENING

Tae Hyung puts down his phone. The funeral hall booked; he looks at the next item on the list. Nam Joon approaches Tae Hyung, holding out his phone.

NAM JOON: It's the minister.

Tae Hyung bites the insides of his cheeks.

TAE HYUNG: Tell him I'm busy.

NAM JOON: He's already angry you're not answering your phone.

Tae Hyung controls the urge to yell and takes the phone.

TAE HYUNG: Hel-

MIN WON: How dare you don't answer my calls?!

TAE HYUNG: I was busy, I'm sorry. What do you need?

MIN WON: You're going to meet our sponsor tonight, right?

TAE HYUNG: I'm busy tonight, I have a meeting-

MIN WON: This is more important! We're finally getting the funds!

TAE HYUNG: B-

MIN WON: Don't mess this up. I need that funding for my re-election. Call me when it's done.

TAE HYUNG: Yes, dad.

Min Won hangs up, Tae Hyung stares ahead not surprised.

INT. Y/N'S APARTMENT – 3 days later – EVENING

Y/n's typing Mr. Ahn's article for her website, but she's clearly distracted. Leaning away from her computer she picks up her phone – Should I call him?

PING! She taps on the notification.

It's a news article: STUDENT GOES TO BUY MANDU, NEVER COMES BACK.

Her forehead wrinkles – What's this?

She reads the article.

Y/N: Mr. Ahn... it's not over...

CUT TO:

INT. KIM TAE HYUNG'S ROOM – EVENING

Tae Hyung reads the same article.

TAE HYUNG: Sonbae... It's not over.

CUT TO:

INT. LABYRINTH OFFICE – NIGHT

Y/n uploads her article. Yoongi and Jin watch her sipping their coffee. Jungkook enters, striding to Y/n with a file in hand.

JUNGKOOK: I got the analytics.

Y/N: Thanks, I'll check it out after the dinner.

She stands.

YOONGI: Will you be going?

Y/N: Where?

JIN: Mr. Ahn's funeral. It's arranged for today.

Y/N: Why would I?

JUNGKOOK: Why wouldn't you?

Y/n crosses her arms.

Y/N: What are you all trying to say?

JIN: You should go, Tae Hyung will be there-

Y/N: Ah. So, this is about Tae Hyung. No.

YOONGI: You were partners. And wasn't Mr. Ahn someone who meant a lot to him?

Y/N: That is why he is going. I have no connection to Mr. Ahn.

Jungkook sighs.

JUNGKOOK: As your best friend, I advise you to go, be there for your crush who's... crushed right now.

Y/n pats his shoulder.

Y/N: I don't know him. There is no me and him.

INT. SEO RESCIDENCE – NIGHT

Nam Gil strides down the hallway toward the main door. He pulls it open and sees Y/n, holding a bottle of wine. She's dressed up in an evening gown for the occasion.

NAM GIL: You're here!

Y/N: Nice suit.

Nam Gil takes the bottle and holds the door open as she enters. She looks around the foyer.

Y/N: Did they seriously get rid of that painting?

NAM GIL: Just for you.

A small girl runs down the hallway, Y/n kneels down and hugs her.

GIRL: IMO!

Y/N: My lovely niece, when did you get so big?

Another man enters, her elder brother Seo Jae Wook, looking sharp in a tuxedo.

JAE WOO: Am I the only one seeing a mirage of Y/n? It's about time I got my eyes checked.

Y/n stands and hugs her brother.

Y/N: Hi hyung. I hate you too.

She sighs looking over his shoulder, her mother almost tearing up seeing her daughter.

She steps away from her brother.

Y/N: Hi mom.

Her mother embraces her tightly.

MIN SI: You look so good! It's really nice when the whole family is together!

Y/N: Where's Unnie? I don't see her.

MIN SI: In the living room, she's on the phone with her doctor.

Y/N: Good news?

Her mom shakes her head.

Y/n's sister, Seo Ye Ji stands by the windows, speaking into her phone.

YE JI: Yes, I'll see you tomorrow. Thank you.

Y/N: Another appointment?

Ye Ji turns around smiling.

YE JI: It's been so long!

They hold each other in a tight hug, Ye Ji winces as if she's in pain but Y/n doesn't notice.

Y/N: I'm so proud of you, you never once gave up.

YE JI: It's in the blood.

Y/N: You've lost weight.

YE JI: I've been on a diet lately. Come let's go.

She links arms with her sister and they stride toward the dining room.

Y/N: Nam Gil Hyung got some business project here, right? He won't spill the details.

YE JI: It has something to do with a new client. I don't know either.

Y/N: Dad isn't here yet?

YE JI: He is.

They hear glasses clink.

Y/N: Did they seriously start without us?

Y/n storms ahead breaking out of her sister's grip, Ye Ji winces in pain again but Y/n is too far away to notice.

AHN HYEOP: Getting rid of the data is better than getting rid of a person.

NAM GIL: Abbeoji, you shouldn't be talking about those kinds of things.

Y/N: What is going on-

She freezes. Her brain shattering to fine dust seeing Tae Hyung seated at the table with her family.

AHN HYEOP: Y/n! You're here!

Everything flies over Y/n's head.

AHN HYEOP: Meet Y/n-

Tae Hyung's eyes find Y/n, his jaw drops, shocked.

AHN HYEOP: -My daughter.

Y/n feels her world, now also on fire, turn upside down – SHIT!!!
