FOR FLASHBACKS- YOUNG EMILY IS PLAYED BY SCARLETT FERNANDEZ.

Emily's POV

Maya, Riley and I sat in the bay window.

"What?" Maya asks Riley as she kept smiling at us.

"I need to ask your guys permission for something." Riley says to us.

"Whatever you want." Maya says.

"What is it?" I ask her.

"Aw, ever since we were little kids, you would always say, "whatever you want", even before you knew what it was. And then Emily would ask what is it." Riley says to us.

"You got a good thing going there, kid. Don't blow it." Maya says to her.

"Maya, Emily, you don't what you're getting yourself into. Remember when I first asked you guys if we wanted to be friends?" Riley asks us.

"Did we take it on? Are we still here?" I ask her.

"You can't just say yes this time. This one's different." Riley says.

"Whatever you want." Maya repeats her words.

"I want to completely redo-" Riley starts but Maya cuts her off.

"Your hair."

You wanna change my hair?" Riley asks.

"I think you could use something once." I answer.

I don't want to change my hair." Riley says to us.

"I gotta look at that every day." Maya says.

"You guys change your hair." Riley tells us.

"I already did." I say as Maya says. "Stop being ridiculous!"

"I want to completely redo-" Maya cuts her off once again.

"The way you dress!" Maya says.

"You don't like me at all, do you?" Riley asks us.

"You're both favorite people in the world. I wouldn't change a thing about you, both of you." Maya says.

"I want to tear down the bay window."

I let out a weird shriek as Maya says, "You shut your face."

"It's time." Riley says.

"What's the matter with you?" Maya says.

"We're changing." Riley says to us.

"We're not." I say to her.

"Maya, Emily, the most important things in our lives are changing. The bay window is one of the most important things in our lives. It's changing with us. It's time." Riley says to us.

"Riley, look at me. Some things mean too much to us to ever change. I don't want this place to ever change. Look at me and tell me you understand that." Maya says to her.

"Maya, Em, it's time." Riley says.

"No. You don't have my permission for this. This place has always been my sanctuary from the storm."

"And this was the only place I could get away from my dad. Without this place I have nothing." I say to her, not wanting to let go of the one place that's made me feel safe for years.

"Emily, Maya, we're doing it." Riley says.

"It never mattered what was going on outside these windows. When I sit here with you guys, I'm safe. We're not changing that."

"We can't, this is our safe place. Why would you want to change that?" I ask Riley.

"You looking forward to high school?" Riley asks us.

"We still don't know that's gonna happen!" Maya exclaims.

"Maya, Em, it's going to happen. You both stink at change, and I hit the ground running from the very first day." Riley says.

"We stink at change?" Maya asks.

"Remember when you were afraid that Lucas was changing? Remember, you said, "change fills my pockets with pennies of uncertainty." You stink at change. And plus, I have changed, I changed my hair. But this place. It's the safe place." I explain.

"Yes, but I've changed. It's a natural thing about growing up. We're changing whether you guys like it or not." Riley says to us.

"Not. Okay? You know what's natural? The way the sun comes in through these windows and the pillows are warm when you put your head on them, or how the moon glows off of the curtain and we don't care that it's the middle of the night because we're here, and we're safe, and we're protected." Maya says to our brunette friend.

"And we're doing it." Riley says.

"Or how Farkle comes in through the window all our lives and says, "My lady!" to Emily. I don't want that to ever change." Maya says and I smile a little.

Farkle comes in through the window and sits on the window ledge with Maya and Riley) Hey." Farkle says and sits next to me. I smile at him.

"Why do things change, Farkle?" Maya asks him.

"Because things grow." Farkle says. He looks at the three of us and asks. "Did you know that every seven years, your body grows a whole new set of cells? Every seven years, it's like you're a whole new person."

"Mr. Norton taught us that in Science." Riley says. I nod.

"Yeah? Well, I'm exactly the same as I was when I was seven, and I'll be exactly the same when I'm-" Maya says then looks to Farkle. "Do it."

"21. See, the difference between you at seven and now is that at seven, you just met me, and now, you've learned to use me." Farkle says to her.

"I know a good thing when I see it. You've been growing ever since we met." Maya says.

"Farkle, I hope we can say that you've grown into a handsome young man without embarrassing you." I say to him, smiling.

"Uh no, you can't." Farkle says.

"Look at him, Riles. Remember the little boy he was? Remember the first day we met him?" Maya asks us. I smile, remembering the day.

"Hmph. Do I remember? He saved my life, Maya, Em. He saved my life twice, and you guys didn't even save it once." Riley says to us.

"You have to lift your head, Riley." Maya says in the same kind of voice she used the day we met Farkle. I laugh lightly.

---------

No One's POV

Flashback - Matthews Apartment.

Young Riley, Young Maya, Young Emily and Young Farkle are in their costumes.

Young Riley has her face buried in a big glass bowl of water filled with apples, and splashing water.

"Lift your head, Riley. You have to lift your head. Lift your head." Young Emily and Maya both say.

Young Farkle approaches them. "Ladies! What's the matter with her?" He asks young Emily and Maya.

"All you have to do is lift your head." Young Maya says to young Riley.

Young Farkle walks over to Young Riley and saves her life.

Young Riley wipes her eyes and says to Young Maya and Emily. "Why do people like this game? The say come up when you get an apple, but what if you don't get an apple? What are you supposed to do?"

"You're supposed to lift your head." Maya tells her.

"You saved my life. How can I repay you? I know! Apples!" Young Riley says to young Farkle and then tries to bob for apples, but gets her face buried in the water, and starts splashing it.

"She a lotta work." Maya says.

Young Farkle saves Young Riley's life again.

"I am not a smart person." Riley says to Maya and Emily.

"That's why you guys can use a friend like me." Farkle says. Emily smiles.

"Why?" Maya asks.

"Because I promise to love you all the same." He tells them.

"But what if you love one of us more? What if you marry one of us?" Riley asks.

"All of you the same." Farkle says, putting his arms around the girls.

"What's your name?" Emily asks him.

Young Farkle moves away from them and hides his head with his cape. "If I tell you, don't laugh."

"We would never." Riley says.

Farkle gets his cape off his head, turns around and approaches them some. "Farkle." he says, saying his name.

Young Maya laughs, as Riley says, "I wanna laugh, but I promised!"

"That's a cool name." Emily says to the boy, smiling.

"What's your last name?" Maya asks.

Young Farkle hides his head with his cape again. "I don't wanna tell you." Farkle says.

"Why does Dracula wear turtlenecks?" Young Riley asks Young Farkle.

Young Farkle gets his cape off his head again. "Because I'm scared of vampires. They bite your neck."

"But you are a vampire!" Emily says.

"My mind is very fancy. Feel free to use me as you see fit." Farkle says to them.

"Cool." Emily says.

-------

Flashback ends.

Emily's POV

"And I always have." Maya says.

"Your costume was a bag." Farkle says to her.

"I couldn't afford a costume. I was a different bag every year." Maya says.

"Mine was a pirate that year. I think I still have the costume somewhere." I tell them. They laugh before Riley says.

"Look how much Farkle's changed. It's nothing to be afraid of. Maya, Em, we're changing the bay window." Riley says to the two of us.

"Why can't you just change your hair?" Farkle asks.

"That's what we've been saying!" I exclaim.

Lucas pokes his head through the window, and looks at Riley. "You're changing the bay window?"

"Oh, look what you did. You made Hee-haw show up out of nowhere." Maya says as Lucas comes through the window and sits next to the two.

"Lucas, how does this affect you? You didn't grow up with us." Riley says.

"Yeah, I didn't have to. I know this place has a lot of meaning to you. That makes it a special place to me, because both of you are special to me in... whatever way you'll eventually tell me." Lucas says to the two girls. I laugh slightly, resting my head on Farkle's shoulder.

"High school's coming up. We're changing." Riley says to us. "Look around, guys. This is a little girl's window. It needs to change with us."

"Hey, Huckleberry. It might've been okay to have known you as long as we've known Farkle." Maya says to him.

" Yeah, being friends with you guys has changed me in the best possible ways. I wish I could've always had that." Lucas tells us.

"We could do it. I say we've known you since you were a little kid." Riley says.

"Well, how do you do that?" Lucas asks.

"A musical number." Riley says.

"Oh no." I mutter.

"No!"

"In the town of old Austin in Texas," Riley sings.

"Why?" Lucas asks.

"Lived Bucky McBoing Boing, Huh-hurr," Maya and I sang.

"Will you please be kind?" Lucas asks.

----------

Flashback

No One's POV

Huh-hurr, huh-hurr, you talk like that for sure." Young Maya and Emily sing to still older Lucas.

"I am dreaming of a hero-" Young Riley sings, getting cut off by Maya.

"Riley, have some dignity, woman!"

"-who will treat me like a princess." Riley continues singing.

"Like me!" Young Farkle comes in signing.

"You're Emily's prince." The small brunette girl sings.

"Okay." Farkle leaves, singing happily then leaves.

"And he'll be my handsome prince. And I'll love him." Riley sings.

"Like a brother." Young Maya sings.

Young Farkle comes back in and sings along with young Emily. "No, the other."

"Farkle! Emily!"

"Okay." Young Farkle sings, leaving the room.

Young Riley goes to grab Lucas' hand and gets on the window ledge.

"Wait." Lucas says. Young Riley lets go of his hand. "Why am I not little like you guys?" He asks the three little girls.

"This is how you've always been." Riley says

"The only you we've ever seen." Young Maya says and jumps on him.

"Hey!" Lucas says.

"Giddy up, Huckleberry!" The young Hart girl says.

"Maya, you can't just jump on me." Lucas tells her.

Young Riley puts her hand on Lucas' shoulder.

"Riley-"

Young Riley jumps into his arms. "Whee!"

"Okay." Lucas says.

"In the town of New York, not Texas." Riley sings.

Young Farkle comes in singing again. "A freak-face became our best friend." He starts dancing and scatting. "Ya-ta-ta-ya-ta-ta-ya-ta-ta," He stops scatting. "Hey!" He goes to get on top of the window ledge with Young Emily while Lucas puts Young Riley back on the window ledge, and Young Maya gets off his back.

"And no matter how things go," Young Riley and Farkle sing.

"We'll always have the bay window." Lucas sings.

"The same one forever. The End." Emily and Maya sing. They grab their hands and bow twice.

----------

Flashback Ends

Emily's POV

"No. Maya, Em, nothings forever. We can't be seven years old our whole lives." Riley says to the two of us.

"Why can't we?" I ask.

"I like remembering who we were." Farkle says to the three of us girls.

"I was nothing like that." Lucas says. "I was a little boy just like all of my friends. Look. I have a picture." He pulls out his smartphone and somehow displays a picture of himself with his friends from Austin, Texas on it. "Huh."

"It's time to forget about the past." Riley says to Maya, Farkle and I.

"Why do we have to?" Maya asks.

"Huh." Lucas says still starring at his phone.

"Em, Maya, what's important now is, "who are we going to be?" Riley says.

"What happens to who we were?" Maya asks her.

"Hey, guys, something's seriously wrong." Lucas says to us but we don't really pay attention.

"You are never touching this bay window." Maya says to Riles. and I nod agreeing.

Riley grabs one of her curtains and pulls it down. I make the weird shrieking noise before burying my face into Farkle's shoulder.

------

"Maybe they're right." I say to Maya after a few minutes. She looks at me shocked. "We will still have our childhood, we'll still have the memories. The memories of our safe place. That wont go anywhere." I tell her. "Maya, after everything with my father and my mother leaving, I had to change something about myself. I did that with my hair. So maybe even if we're just going into high school; we can change the bay window a little. We are changing, nothing can stop that, no matter how hard you change."

-------

Cory and Topanga were now in the room, seeing what was going on.

"How could you let them do this?" Maya asks the two adults.

"I didn't." Cory says. "What did you guys do?" He asks us.

"Riley, this is your favorite place in the world." Topanga says.

"I'm just a teenage girl rearranging her room a lot." Riley says to her mother.

"Uh-huh. What's really happening?" Topanga asks.

"Just because we're going to high school, she thinks we should destroy our childhood." Maya says to her.

"Okay, you know, this raises an interesting question. Who here knows-" Cory goes to ask Maya, Riley, Farkle, Lucas and I.

"Stop." Riley, Maya, Lucas and I say.

"Stop what?" Cory asks.

"You were about to teach us something, weren't you?" Riley asks her father.

"No." He lies.

"Sure, you were." Lucas says.

"It's the weekend and you can't stop. Bring it, Hambone." Farkle says.

"You need help, Matthews." Maya tells him and I nod agreeing.

"You're not allowed to teach us anything today." Lucas says.

"I wasn't gonna teach you anything." Cory tells us.

"Yay!" Riley, Maya and Lucas say.

"Aw." Farkle says.

"Because you already know this one." Cory says.

"Oh." Riley says and Lucas groans.

"Yay!" Farkle says.

"The truth is, people get comfortable with what's familiar." Cory tells us.

"Yeah. And when you get too comfortable, you don't allow yourself room to grow." Topanga says to us.

"The worst thing you can do is fold your arms and refuse to accept what's gonna come anyway. Cory says.

"Yeah." Riley says to Maya.

"Hey, Riley, is that my boot? Can I please have that back?" Lucas asks her.

"No." Riley says.

"Honey, it's totally okay that you want to create space for new memories. Let's just keep the old memories somewhere safe. You may decide that you want to visit them again later." Topanga says.

"Fine." Riley says then looks at Maya. "You see Maya? One of us is completely okay with making room for the new." She says her.

Cory and Topanga start laughing.

Riley laughs while talking to them. "Okay. You guys are laughing."

"Yeah." Cory says and Topanga nods her head.

"Is it because I'm so right that it's funny?" Riley asks.

"No." Topanga says and Cory shakes his head.

"Oh. Then why are you laughing?" Riley asks.

"It's just a little memory that we've put away?" Cory says.

"Yeah." Topanga says. "Let's take it out and visit." She says.

--------

"Why are you doing this? Am I not good enough?" Young Riley asks her father as he searched around the house.

"You're okay." He tells her. "Topanga!"

"I like the way things is. Why do we need another baby? We just need Mommy, Daddy, Riley, Maya, Emily." Riley says to her father.

"I lost her. Only I could lose a pregnant Topanga." Cory says as they hear a car honking. "Of course. Pregnant Topanga's in the car already. Don't move, girls. Mrs. Svorski's on her way up. The honking continues. "All right! We all got things going on!" He says then leaves.

"You're gonna be a big sister. Why does everything have to change? Why do I have to share my parents?" Riley asks.

"You're gonna have a little brother or sister, Riley. You family loves each other. You're very lucky."

"What's the matter, Maya?" Riley asks Maya.

"We don't know where my daddy is." Maya says, putting her feet on the couch and her arms on her knees.

"My daddy and I don't know where my mom is." Young Emily says to Maya, also putting her feet on the couch and her arms on her knees.

-------

Flashback ends

Emily's POV

Maya sat there, next to Riley and I, her feet on the bay window and her arms on her knees. "Yeah, that's the day I decided that change wasn't a good thing." Maya says to us.

"Sometimes it is, Maya." I say to her.

"I don't want to go to high school." Maya says to us.

"Why not?" I ask her.

"We've always been together. What if something changes? What if something happens? People drift apart in high school." Maya says to us.

"Maya, how could that even possibly happen?" Riley asks.

"How could it possibly happen that the bay window would change? How could it possibly happen that people just leave?" Maya asks. I sigh.

"Maya, sometimes change is good. It leads to a wonderful growing up. Don't you want to be big girls?"

"No. This was the first place that I ever thought was safe. Even if my whole world changed, this place never would." Maya says.

"Then we'll put it back. We'll put it back, Maya." I say to her.

"Riles, Emmy, I know it's not just the bay window we're saying goodbye to." Maya says to us.

"It's us, right? You think you're gonna say goodbye to us?" Farkle asks.

"Maya, we're not going anywhere." Lucas tells her.

"Not in high school, not any time. It's always gonna be us." Farkle says.

I lay my head on Maya's shoulder as Riley places her hand on Maya's other shoulder.

"Very good." Cory says to us.

"That's it?" Lucas asks.

"Yeah." Cory answers.

"That's what you wanted us to learn?" Lucas asks him.

"Leave me alone." Cory says.

"It's his day off." Topanga says to Lucas. She and Cory leave Riley's bedroom.

Riley puts her hand on Maya's shoulder again and says to her. "Maya, we're never leaving. No matter where we go, we're never leaving. And Farkle told us that he'd always love us equally no matter what. Even if he does marry Emily in the future."

"I'm as good as my promise." Farkle says to Maya. I smile.

"Lucas?" Maya asks him.

"Right here." He tells her and they smile at one another.

"Lucaya." I whisper, only Maya heard me. She gives me a look. I smile at her.

"Maya, high school's just the next place. Your safe place is us. Your safe place is me and Emily."

"And I'm all yours."

Riley and I grab Maya's hands. "From the day we met." We both say.

-----------

Flashback.

No One's POV

Young Maya and Emily poke their selves through the window where Riley was singing, causing her to stop. The two come in the window and sit next to her. "Sup?' Maya asks.

"Are you strangers?" Young Riley asks.

"Yeah." Young Maya and Emily say.

"Are you strangers coming through my window?" Young Riley asks the two girls.

"Yeah." The two young blondes repeat.

"Then." Young Riley says then screams, but then Young Maya covers her mouth to stop her from doing so.

"I'm running away from home, Emily's coming with me." Y. Maya says, and gets her hand off Young Riley's mouth. "We saw your curtains and your pillows, and heard you singing. I like singing better than yelling. Please don't yell."

"Who's yelling?" Young Riley asks.

"My mommy and daddy?" Young Maya says.

"Why?" Young Riley asks.

"'Cause they always are. What do you do here?" Young Maya answers.

"I sit here and I hope." Y. Riley says.

"For what?" Young Emily asks, curiously.

"For someone to come and sit with me. Are you guys them?" Young Riley asks the two.

"What's your name?" Young Maya asks.

"I'm Riley." Young Riley says.

"Hi, Riley. I'm Maya Penelope Hart and this is Emily Daniels.

"Hi, Maya, hi Emily. Are we friends forever?" Young Riley asks.

"Whatever you want." Young Maya says.

"I wanna call you peaches and Emily, you're Emmy." Riley says. The three young girls smile.

"Now that we're best friends forever, we should get a few things straight." Young Riley says to them

"Like what?" Young Maya asks.

"I'm a lot of trouble. I'm gonna be the dangerous one." Young Riley tells the two.

Young Maya gets in her face. "I am."

"Okay." Young Riley says.

Young Emily pulls Young Maya and Riley away from each other slightly, getting young Maya out of Riley's face. "There you go." Emily says.

Young Maya sees the baby monitor and says to Young Riley. "You have a baby monitor." They hear a ring coming from it.

"What are you doing, Riley?" Cory asks his daughter, through his own device from somewhere else in the apartment.

"Ju-" Young Riley starts to say but Young Maya cuts her off.

Young Maya pretends to be Young Riley while saying to Cory. "Just sitting here talking to myself." She says then sings.

"Okay, honey. Have fun." Cory says, not noticing the voice wasn't from his own daughter. The ring begins to end the call.

"That was fun." Young Riley says to Young Emily and Young Maya.

"We're just gettin' started." Young Maya tells the two. Young Emily nods, smiling.

"Yeah. I feel guilty. I'm gonna go tell him." Young Riley says and tries to stand up, but then Young Maya and Young Emily stops her from leaving.

Young Maya and Emily sit Young Riley down. "Oh, boy, are we gonna be good for you." Young Maya says to the brunette.

Young Riley hugs Young Maya and Young Emily. "And I will sprinkle you with goodness. And Emily seems to be like both of us. She can be like a mix of us." Young Riley says to Young Maya.

"Whatever you want." Young Maya tells the two girls.

"Can we be like this forever?" Young Riley asks the girls and stops hugging them.

"Well, do you think someday we'll have to grow up?" Young Maya asks the two

"How will we know when that is?" Young Riley asks.

---------

"It's now." Riley says to Maya and Emily. They see their young selves, and stand up.

Young Riley, Emily and Maya go to sit down as while Riley, Emily and Maya go to sit with them.

"Hi." Maya says to her younger self.

"Who are you?" Young Maya asks her older self.

"I'm Maya Penelope Hart." Teen Maya says.

"But that's me." Young Maya says.

"Yeah." Teen Maya says.

"You're me?" Young Maya asks.

"Yeah." Teen Maya Repeats.

"Prove it." Young Maya says.

"Sometimes when you sit on the toilet, you like to put the lid on your back and pretend you're a turtle." Teen Maya says. Young Maya gasps. "named Mr. Shellington." Young Maya gasps again.

"You're me?" Young Emily asks Teen Emily.

"Yep." Teen Emily answers.

"Does he ever stop?" Young Emily asks her older self. Teen Emily smiles lightly.

"Yes." Teen Emily answers.

"Thank you." Young Emily says to Teen Emily, who just smiles at her younger self.

"Are you me?" Young Riley asks her teen self.

"Yeah, I am." Present Riley answers.

"Prove it." Past Riley says.

"Well, I don't have to. You believe everything." Present Riley tells her past self.

Young Riley gasps and says to Young Emily and Maya. "It's us."

"It is?" Young Maya asks.

"Yeah." Young Riley says.

"Our daddy's gone." Past Maya says to her present self.

Maya starts to hug her past self. "Yeah."

"Is everything gonna be okay?" Young Maya asks.

Teen Maya stops hugging her. Then picks her up and sits her on her lap, and Riley picks her young self up and sits her on her lap, as Emily does the same with her younger self. "Just stay close to this one and we'll be."

"Why are you here with us?"

"Um because we wanted to visit you and spend some time with you before things change." Teen Riley answers.

"You're gonna change?" Young Maya asks.

"Yeah, that's what happens. But we wanted to thank you guys for being who we were." Teen Maya says.

"What happens to us?" Young Emily asks.

"You stay with us. You're a part of us always." Teen Emily says.

Young Riley looks to her present self and, Emily and Maya. "Do we have to grow up and change?"

"Well, we're doing a pretty okay job so far and we get to grow up into whoever's the next us." Teen Riley says.

"Whether we like it or not." Teen Maya says.

"Do we have good friends?" Young Riley asks her older self.

"Oh, we have the best friends." Teen Riley says.

"Good. So, who are we going to be?" Y. Riley asks.

"What?" Teen Riley asks.

"When you grow up more." Young Emily says.

"I wanna see 'em!" Young Riley says to Teen Riley.

"Bring 'em in here!" Young Maya tells Teen Riley.

"Well, we can't um." Teen Maya gets her off her lap and sits her down next to her. "'cause we actually don't know who we're gonna be yet."

"But we look forward to meeting them someday." T. Emily says.

"And you'll tell them all about us, peaches, Emmy?" Y Riley asks Teen Maya and Emily.

"We won't have to." Teen Maya says.

"You'll be there." Teen Emily finishes.

"Okay." Y. Maya says to her present self. "So, we decided to change the bay window?"

"Yeah." Maya says.

"Well, we can't wait to see what you do with the place."

Riley, Emily and Maya hug their young selves while crying.

"There's a gallery in SoHo and they want to show my stuff." Adult Maya says.

"Maya, that's amazing." Adult Emily says.

"We'll come to your opening." Adult Riley says.

"It starts at 10:00." Adult Maya says.

"It starts at 10:00?" Adult Riley asks.

"How do we do that? All of our memories are here."

"We take them with us. Look at them. Can you see them?" Adult Riley says to the two other about there Teen and younger selves that were sat on the bed.

"How would I do that?" Adult Maya asks her two best friends.

"All you have to do is lift your head?" Adult Riley says to her. Adult Maya lifts her head and the three see their past and present selves, who then wave at them.

"You think they know we're here?" Younger Riley says to her teen self.

"They know." Present Riley says to her younger self.

"They won't forget about us will they? Are we always going to be with them?" Maya asks her younger self, looking at the adult version of herself.

"So goodbye, this room." Adult Maya says, looking around the room that she spent so much time in with her best friends.

"Thanks for everything." Adult Riley and Adult Emily both say in unison about the room, looking around it.

"We will always be together." Riley says.

"Forever." I say to them, smiling.

This chapter minus this authors note is 5110 words. I think it's one of the longest chapters I've ever written, at least for this book. GUYS WE HAVE LIKE I THINK ONE MORE CHAPTER UNTIL BOOK 3!!! Anyways, I've stayed up all night typing this for you guys and it 6:46 am and I'm tired. lol I'm going to sleep. But please comment guys, I would really appreciate it. Thanks for reading. Bye.
