Patton's eyes fluttered open slowly, taking a deep breath through his nose as his body began to wake up. He shifted and smiled to himself. He felt warm and comfortable under blankets; there was also the comforting warmth of another person in his bed.

The realization that he wasn't alone is what made him truly begin to wake up. His eyes reopened and landed on the peaceful face of Logan a few inches away from his own. He couldn't make out the details without his glasses, but he could make out his sharp cheek bones even with his hazy vision.

Thinking of his glasses, Patton tried to recall the evening prior and how he and Logan had gotten to the village and found an inn. He reached over to feel for them, trying to think of if they'd taken their glasses off before talking to the lady at the bar. Something told him that they should've if they didn't. Their glasses were made of plastic and didn't resemble the ones that would exist in medieval times, if any existed at all. He would have to ask Logan when he woke up.

He slipped his glasses onto to his face and sat up a little. The boy gazed down at his best friend, smiling wider as he took in his features. He didn't think he'd seen the intellectual young man at such a state of calm before.

Logan was almost always working or thinking, features displaying that whenever he looked at him. Patton could just tell by his eyes that he was thinking intently even when appearing to be doing nothing. He was the smartest person he'd ever known and a very well balanced person too; however, he sensed that he lacked the reflex to relax and take breaks. It made him not want to wake him up even though he knew they should explore and then leave as soon as they were able to.

With a sigh, he gently shook his friend's shoulder. It roused him from his slumber almost instantly but he looked confused as he squinted in his direction. "Patton?"

"Morning Lo!" he greeted, beaming. "In case you forgot or thought you were dreaming, we did travel back in time to the 13th century with a magical watch and you did actually steal the clothes we're wearing right now. Speaking of which, did anyone notice our glasses last night? I can't remember if we took them off!"

He looked caught off guard by all the information as he reached for his own glasses. "Right, I remember what happened," Logan said with a nod. "I can't recall if we took off our glasses or not. I would assume we did. I would remember if the woman I spoke to mentioned them."

"Well, either way, what should we do about them now? I mean, even if we had them on last night, it's possible it was too dark for her to see them clearly. Out in broad daylight, they'll be really obvious, won't they?" Patton asked. His friend nodded and looked like he was deep in thought already. "I mean, I don't think I had any emergency contacts with me last night because we were at your house. Did you?"

"No, I didn't. We'll have to come up with another alternative. I believe they do have glasses in medieval times," he said. "They won't be an exact match for either of our prescriptions, but they should be able to allow us to see decently."

The other boy giggled excitedly. "Wow, we're getting full medieval make-overs! This will be so fun!"

With a nod, Logan got up from the bed and began to prepare to go out for the day. He had agreed to explore the village for a little while until he could understand how the watch worked and that meant they would be wandering around for the day. Patton jumped off the bed with enthusiasm as he too prepared to leave. They adjusted the clothes they'd swiped the night before and pulled on their discarded boots. As Logan picked up their bag, they were ready to go explore.

They exited their room and headed into the lobby and bar area of the inn. It was a quiet morning with only a couple people awake for far, but Patton suspected that as the day continued, it would get busier.

The fresh air hit them as they stepped outside, making him sigh happily as he took deep breaths of it. "Kinda crazy, huh?" he said to his friend. Logan made a questioning noise and looked in his direction. "I mean, to get fresh air like this you've got to go into like the middle of the nowhere. Back in the older ages, like now I guess, humans hadn't polluted the atmosphere yet."

"Yes, technology capable of doing significant damage to our ozone won't be invented for a couple more centuries," the intellectual young man agreed. "That was an astute observation, Patton."

He beamed as butterflies stirred in his stomach. "Thanks!"

Patton then turned and led the way toward the market place he could see up ahead. As the sun rose higher, more and more people were coming out to shop and socialize, making his excitement increase. The town looked like something straight out of a fairy tale. He suppressed his urge to twirl around like a Disney princess.

"Isn't this amazing, Logan?" he exclaimed, grabbing his hand excitedly.

He pulled him from stand to stand and shop to shop. He wanted to look at everything. The intellectual boy he was dragging along seemed distracted but he humored his friend anyway. Patton's big brown eyes made it very difficult to say no to him; especially when he started point to posters for the prince of the kingdom's ball that evening.

"Please, please, please can we go?! A real medieval ball, Logan! This is a once in a lifetime opportunity!" he gushed, giving him big puppy dog eyes as he pouted.

"Alright, I don't suppose it would hurt to go," Logan said, caving. The boy jumped up and down and hugged him tightly with joy. He couldn't help the way his lips quirked up in a smile as he did so. "We'll have to go find something to wear though."

Patton grinned widely. "That's the best part!!"
