Backstory:

Honeyshine and her older sister Maplefrost were both born blind, therefore referred to ad "The Blind Sisters". Their father abandoned her mother long before Maple and Honey were born. Their mother died while giving birth to Honey. Before she died, she told Maple (who was barely an apprentice) to take care of Honey. Therefore, Maplefrost was always overprotective of Honeyshine. 

When Honey was an apprentice, she took interest in a fellow apprentice. However, Maplefrost, knowing her mother's backstory, was strongly against it. Yup, this is just an average love story because I have zero creativity. 

Maple warned Honey about toms' treacherous actions, but Honey ignored her. So Maple risked her own life (and Honey's), and by taking advantage of Honey's blindness, tricked Honey into thinking that the male apprentice put Honey into danger. It worked and resulted into Honey having a lifetime trauma, making her numb to any romantic interest towards other cats.
