Backstory: Zach was born and immediately given away. It didn't really bother him since he was adopted later as a 6 year old. He was pretty happy until his adoptive parents died 6 years later when he was 12. He went through a bunch of heartache and whatnot until he had to live with Shuu and his younger brothers.
