"Finally you're here." Fleur hummed as Elijah walked in.

"I do apologize, I must've slept through my alarm." Elijah shook his head, putting his breakfast bar wrapper in the bin.

"Reid's been here for hours." Morgan pointed towards Gideon's office.

"Is he alright?"

"He's... Passed out."

"Oh, for goodness sake." Elijah shook his head, walking to Gideon's office,"Give me a few minutes."

Reid had fallen asleep next to the chess board on a chair. He had been worrying about Gideon.

Elijah walked up to Reid, bending down slightly,"Reid?"

Reid shifted slightly, opening his eyes and checking his watch.

"Babe, what are you doing here?" Elijah asked.

"Gideon didn't answer his phone. I called him twice."

"Spencer, have you been here all night?" Elijah crossed his arms.

"No, I left hours ago. But I fed the cats- We were supposed to play chess." Reid pointed.

"Here?"

"Yeah... He hasn't been back to his apartment since.."

Elijah sighed, holding his arms out,"Come here."

Reid sighed and hugged his boyfriend,"Is Hotch here yet?"

"He's not due in for another half hour." Elijah sighed, rubbing his back.

"I wanted to let you sleep for a little bit." Reid nodded.

"Well, you worried me. I woke up, almost late and you were just gone."

"I didn't go far." Reid assured him, pulling away.

"You look exhausted." Elijah sighed, cupping his face.

"I'm fine hun, don't worry."

Elijah nodded slowly, kissing Reid's forehead,"You need to stop worrying too."

"About?"

"Gideon. I'm sure he's alright."

"I hope so."

"Debrief guys." JJ knocked on the door.

"We'll be there." Elijah nodded.

"We better go." Reid sighed.

"Right."

The boys then walked into and sat down in the Conference Room, holding hands.

"What? No Hotch, now no Gideon?" Morgan sighed as he walked in.

"No, not yet." JJ shook her head.

"You know these guys have been out two weeks, you'd think the least they could do is be on time." Morgan shrugged as he and Fleur sat down.

"Yeah, cause you're never late." Reid flicked through the file.

Fleur hummed and grabbed her pen, "So wheres Emily?"

"Her phone keeps going straight to voicemail." JJ shook her hesd.

"Well, this room just keeps getting smaller and smaller, doesn't it?" Elijah squeezed Reid's hand.

"Should we wait fifteen minutes?" Reid suggested.

"We can just brief them on the plane. Right now, a police task force in Milwaukee needs our help." JJ put photos on the screen,"They've had four murders in the past three weeks and, in addition, another woman has been missing for the last two days. They've all been women in their thirties, all married with children."

"Any connection between these victims?" Morgan asked.

"Just that they've all been abducted from the area of Wauwatosa, all from very public places but there's been no witnesses." JJ told him.

"How are we even certain its the same killer?" Reid put his file down.

"Well, for starters, all the bodies have been dumped in the city's Third Ward." JJ began before putting another image on screen,"And there's this."

"Is that what I think it is?" Fleur blinked.

"All their hearts have been cut from their bodies." JJ sighed.

"Jesus Christ." Elijah muttered.

*********************************

The team were on the plane. They were small in number but they still had a job to do. However since Hotch nor Gideon was on the case, they had Section Chief Strauss.

"You know from this angle, she almost looks human." Fleur stared at Strauss.

Elijah looked back at Strauss, glaring at her,"Has anyone talked to Emily yet?"

"She was gone before I heard the news." JJ sighed.

"Now we're down two agents and Gideon's MIA." Morgan shook his head.

"Has Strauss ever even been out of the-" Reid began to speak.

Elijah squeezed his hand, as Strauss walked up to the small team.

"Correct me if I'm wrong, but I belive its protocol to brief everyone before we arrive at the crime scene?"

"Yes ma'am." Fleur hummed.

"This Unsub is abducting women from very public places with no witnesses. He holds them forty eight hours with no sexual assault, and then he dumps their bodied with their hearts carved out of their chests." JJ nodded.

"Here's a picture." Elijah handed it to Strauss.

"There's an obvious dichotomy in the skill the UnSub exhibits in abducting these women and the fact ye cuts their hearts out so crudely." Reid explained.

"We're probably looking at somebody in a psychotic break." Morgan told her,"He could be a butcher, might be a hunter. Somebody who's very comfortable around blood but, as you can see, obviously doesn't have the skills of a surgeon."

Strauss crossed her arms,"So do we have a working theory?"

Fleur chuckled,"Sure we do. Someone really doesn't like women."

"And that's about all for now. Bye bye." Elijah waved.

Strauss sighed and got up, going back to her own seat.

*********************************

"You the FBI?" A Detective walked over.

"Derek Morgan. Spencer Reid, Jennifer Jareau, Elijah Deans, Fleur Howards and Section Chief Strauss." Morgan introduced them all.

"Vic Wolynski. Milwaukee PD." Wolynski nodded.

"You worked the Jeffery Dahmer case." Reid turned to him.

"Sixteen years ago."

"I've studied it." Reid nodded.

"And you remember my name?" Wolynski blinked.

"He remembers everything." Fleur hummed.

"It's what he does." Morgan told him.

"What can you tell us?" Strauss crossed her arms.

"A local merchant noticed her a few hours ago, but considering he didn't see her when he first came to work, we figured she was dumped there between 7:30 and 8:05. Same window as the others." Wolynski explained.

"All the bodies were found in this area, right?" Morgan turned to him.

"Wauwatosa is an upper middle class suburb, approximately fifteen minutes from here. All the women were abducted from there in the afternoon and turned up here in the morning two days later." He continued.

"All this foot traffic, and no one saw anything?" Elijah looked around.

"Well, he wraps the bodies loosely, so they're not immediately recognisable. Eventually the wrapping comes open. My guess is he has a van or a truck, something he can back up, so he's shielded when he makes the drop."

"No prints on whatever he wraps them in?" Morgan asked as he knelt by the body.

"There have been traces of paint and wood stain. Most of its just common stuff you'd get at any hardware store."

"He's trying to demean them, putting them out like trash." Reid sighed.

"This guy might work or live around here. He gets off on the reaction of his handiwork." Fleur pointed to the body.

"What can you tell us about the victim?" JJ turned to Wolynski.

"She was taken from a supermarket. Her husband says that most days she would've been picking up her son at school but he was spending the afternoon at a friend's." Wolynski sighed.

"This is your fifth victim, right?" Strauss asked.

"Yes." He nodded.

"You should've called us sooner." She told him.

"I thought we had a handle on it." Wolynski admitted.

"Apparently not."

"Ma'am? Excuse me sir." Fleur sighed, walking to the side with Strauss.

"Stupid bitch." Elijah muttered.

"We need to work with these detectives." Fleur tried explaining to Strauss.

"I'm sorry?"

"We don't generally criticise them. It just really doesn't get us anything." Fleur shook her head.

"Are you saying it wouldn't have been helpful if he had contacted us sooner?" Strauss asked.

"Well, of course it's always, y'know, the sooner the better." Fleur nodded.

"Right."

"Okay." Fleur gave a small smile and went to walk away.

"And Agent Howards." Strauss stopped her,"Don't question me again."

Fleur frowned and walked back to the team, looking down.

"Don't listen to that cow. She doesn't know what she's talking about." Elijah pointed.

"Elijah." Fleur muttered.

"What?"

"Behind you."

Elijah sighed and turned around to look at Strauss. Strauss gave a small warning look before turning away.

*********************************

"Garcia, darling, please tell me something I want to hear?" Elijah sighed as he followed Wolynski.

"You're a statuesque god of sculpted English shortbread." Garcia hummed.

Elijah chuckled,"How about something I don't already know, gorgeous?"

"I have a sweet tooth?"

"Love, did you locate the missing girl on the security footage?"

"On it. It's coming your way in five, four, three, two.." Garcia hummed.

"I got it." He nodded.

"Keep me on speaker, will you?"

"Will do, doll."

"She doesn't seem to be on anyone's radar." Reid blinked as they watched the video footage.

"Okay, who's the kid?" Morgan asked.

"Does Claire Thompson have a son?" Wolysnki asked.

No, two-year old daughter." JJ shook her head.

"Looks like the kids lost." Fleur tilted her head.

"Garcia, is that all you got?" Elijah asked.

"That's it. And then they turn down a hallway with no security camera, and we lose them." Garcia sighed.

"I'll get a list of missing kids, see if we can make out a resemblance to any of them." Wolynski nodded.

Fleur tilted her head,"Oh damn."

Fleur tilted her head, "Oh damn."

"What?" Elijah raised a brow.

"What if this guys actually using his own son to lure his victims?"

"Now that... Makes a lot of sense with the dumping schedule." Morgan nodded.

"I think we're ready to delivere the profile." JJ sighed.

*********************************

"Detective Wolynski told us you're trying to single out trucks and vans. Smart. The Unsub is dumping his victims in a business district, so I'd agree with you. He's probably not driving something that stands out." Morgan began.

"He may even have some type of company logo on the side of his vehicle, as well." Fleur added.

"We know that he abducts women in Wauwatosa and then dumps their bodied somewhere in the Third Ward." Reid pointed to a map,"Most Unsubs keep their area of control, where they kill their victims, triangulation between the two points."

"Which means that the UnSub probably lives in Wauwatosa or the Third Ward. Somewhere in the area, people who live there know the UnSub."

"There's also no sexual component to these crimes." Elijah crossed his arms,"Which means it's more about the Unsub making a point. He's cutting their hearts out."

"It might just be that this is the sickest way the UnSub knows to disfigure the women and throw them out like trash. We can't really know." Morgan shrugged.

"The two most important questions we should ask ourselves are, what is this guy doing with these women in that 48 hours and why is he willing to use his own son to abduct them?" Elijah told them.

"And if he truly is using his own son, then it's likely that he has what we call borderline personality disorder. Now borderlines, they think that all relationships revolve entirely around them, and when they set their mind to something, absolute. There is no gray area." Fleur explained.

"It would also manifest in a way that would be visible to people around the Unsub." Reid continued,"Intense bouts of anger, problems drinking. He'd also be highly sensitive to rejection."

"And one last thing. It is not easy to crack clean through breastbone. You're dealing with a guy that works with his hands. He's used to hard labour. At the very least, he's not afraid to get dirty." Morgan added.

*********************************

"I've tripled patrol in that area and I've got every available unit re-canvasing." Wolynski told them.

"It's tough knowing they're out there, and we're still a step behind." Morgan sighed.

"You know, it used to be a running joke that if you told people you were from Milwaukee, all they wanted to talk about was Happy Days reruns." Wolynski sat down,"Then Dahmer happens, and they ask you about it as if it was the same thing, as if it was entertainment. But I was in that apartment."

"Gideon, one of our bosses, say that there are things that attach to you that you can never wash off." Reid nodded.

"Alright, is it possible we're looking at this the wrong way." Elijah took off his glasses.

"What do you mean?" Strauss asked.

"We're trying to zero in on the Unsub. Now, you guys tell me, but if he really is using his son, wouldn't the trauma manifest more clearly on the boy?" Elijah crossed his arms.

"Can your analyst get a list of all the children in the area we're targeting?" Strauss tilted her head.

"Garcia can get you whatever you want." Morgan nodded.

Strauss nodded and called Garcia through the main phone.

"Talk dirty to me." Garcia smirked.

Everyone began stuttering, looking away from the phone. Elijah nearly choked, trying to hold back his laughter.

"This is Section Chief Erin Strauss." Strauss cleared her throat.

"Ma'am, I think it goes without saying that I was expecting it to be someone else." Garcia stammered.

"I need a list of every grade school in the Third Ward and Wauwatosa." Strauss nodded.

"Yes, Ma'am." Garcia began typing,"The Third Ward has one public grade school, but there appears to be four private schools that draw from that area."

"Wauwatosa?" Strauss raised a brow.

"That would be nine, Ma'am." She answered.

"And how many students?"

"Thirty-two hundred."

"Can you also get me a list of every guidance counselor that deals directly with a student body in that area?" Strauss added.

"Certainly Ma'am, and again, I'd like to-"

Strauss then hung up, looking at the others,"You need to present these counselors with profile of a troubled child." She then left the room.

"At least she doesn't hear what we get up to." Fleur muttered to Morgan.

"I don't think anyone wants to hear that." Morgan shook his head.

"You're right, we don't." Elijah put his glasses back on.

"I have the image engraved." JJ joked.

"Come on, it wasn't that bad." Morgan pointed.

"Oh yes, it was."

"Oh no it wasn't. You're overreacting." Fleur hummed.

"Trust me, Fleur. I didn't sleep that night." Elijah shook his head,"I have witnesses."

"I am a witness." Reid raised his hand.

*********************************

"Alright, the boy doesn't look any older than seven years old, let's start youngest to oldest." Morgan walked in with some files,"Start with the worst behavior, get names of the parents, send them over to Garcia, she can crosscheck for criminal records. This guy's dumping bodies between 7:30 and 8:00. That gives us a little over 12 hours to make something hit. Let's get it done." Morgan clapped.

"Looks who's here." Reid pointed.

"Hey, where do we start?" Emily walked in, with Hotch by her side.

"Emily!" Elijah got up and hugged her

"Hey kid." Emily chuckled, hugging back,"How fast can you get us up to speed?"

"How fast can you sit down?" JJ asked.

"It's good to have you both back." Fleur hummed as Strauss walked in.

"We're only here to help." Emily told her.

"We'll deal with this later." Strauss nodded.

With that, the group began looking through the files. Although, hours later, they still hadn't found anything.

"It's impossible, there's too many." Reid sighed.

"Keep looking Reid, we still have an hour." Morgan nodded.

"Thank you, by the way, for giving Garcia that file to give me." Hotch walked up to JJ.

"I don't know what you're talking about. I didn't see Garcia before I left." JJ shook her head.

*********************************

After checking out the Unsub's house, Hotch and Morgan walked back to the cars outside.

"The boys alone in the family room."

"Where are the other agents?" Strauss asked.

"Covering the other side. They have an eye line just in case someone tries to sneak out he back." Morgan answered.

"Is there any sign of the nurse or the dad?" Emily tilted her head.

"No." He shook his head.

"So what are we doing here?" Wolynski asked.

"Call in SWAT, secure the perimeter and wait for him to come out." Strauss crossed her arms.

"Ma'am, he's holding a woman inside." Morgan pointed.

"We don't know that for sure. We don't have probable cause." Strauss shook her head.

"She's right." Hotch sighed.

"If he has her, he waits 48 hours. He's not gonna kill her yet." Strauss nodded.

"He's changed the pattern of the dump sites. Now he's changed how he abducts them. Do we really wanna gamble that he's sticking to the rest of the model?" Morgan scoffed.

"So, let's pound on the door. Maybe he'll panic." Wolynski suggested.

"But he could spook just enough to kill her early." Hotch sighed.

"Let me go in alone." Fleur spoke,"The boys in the family room. He'll answer the door."

"No." Strauss pointed.

"We need to get invited in that door." Fleur pointed back,"He's looking for female authority figures. If he let's me in, I can signal as soon as I see anything that gives us cause."

"As soon as you have probable cause, give us the singal and get out of there." Hotch instructed.

"Okay." Fleur walked up to the door, looking around before she knocked on it.

David, the little boy, then opened the door for her.

"Hi, are you David? I'm Fleur." Fleur crouched down,"Your dad asked me to come by."

"He's busy."

"Would it be okay if I came in and waited?"

David shrugged and opened the door further,"I guess so."

"Thanks." Fleur smiled and walked in.

David shut the door, locking it afterwards,"My dad says it's unsafe to leave the door unlocked."

"Smart man." Fleur nodded.

Morgan ran to the others, handing them vests,"Flo's inside. We're waiting on her go."

Elijah nodded as he and the others put on their vests.

"So where is your dad?" Fleur looked around the house for anything.

"He's working in there." David pointed to the basement door as he sat down.

"Is he alone?"

David stayed quiet, his eyes locking onto the cartoon he was watching.

"Would it be okay if I just let him know I was waiting?" Fleur pointed, walking towards the basement.

"He doesn't let me go down there when he's working." David shook his head.

"Oh no, you don't have to. I'm just gonna go and see if he's too busy. And we can both be really quiet okay? Can you be quiet?" Fleur opened the basement door and ran inside, her gun out.

She saw the woman tied to a post and gagged, shaking her head... That's when the Unsub ran up with a plank of wood, hitting her in the head. Fleur fell to the ground, her gun falling from her hands.

Joe took her gun, pointing it at her as David appeared in the doorway,"Who is this? Where did she come from?"

"Said she was a friend of yours." David looked at Joe.

"What?"

"She said she was a friend of yours."

"Look, alright, you take this." He held out the gun to David.

"I can't." David shook his head.

"Take it! Look, it's okay, it's okay. Just put your finger on the trigger and point it right at her." Joe gave David the gun.

"David.." Fleur blinked. She couldn't see straight. She must've been concussed.

"This is their fault. We're doing the right thing, okay?" Joe held Fleur down,"Point it, point it."

Fleur managed to pull her hand down, pressing the alarm on her walkie. Soon enough, the others hurried inside and into the basement, their guns raised. David quickly turned to the Agents, the gun pointed at them as he backed up.

"Drop the weapon, son. Give me the gun." Elijah turned to David, lowering his own weapon.

"Flo." Morgan helped Fleur up.

"David, it's okay. Do as they say." Joe nodded.

David nervously handed Elijah the gun.

"It's going to be alright now. I promise." Elijah assured David as Hotch picked him up.

Emily and Reid quickly rushed over to untie the school nurse while Morgan arrested Joe.

"Are you okay?" Elijah turned to Fleur.

"I'll be fine." Fleur shook her head.

"I'll call an ambulance." JJ nodded slowly as she walked out.

"I just need to get outside." Fleur sighed, holding his arm.

"And I'll get you there." Elijah supported Fleur as they made their way outside.

"He hit me with wood. A plank. Not even something else." Fleur scoffed,"Stupid Joe."

"Honey, I think you've got a concussion." Elijah sighed as they walked out the door,"You're sitting down once I find someplace."

"She okay?" Morgan ran over.

"He's worried about me. It's cute." Fleur hummed.

"She's concussed. Look at her pupils." Elijah told him.

"He hit me with a massive plank of wood." Fleur nodded.

"I don't think you should be walking." Morgan shook his head.

"I've got my trusty Eli." Fleur patted his arm as she sat down on the ambulance.

"Make sure she doesn't die." Elijah pointed to the paramedic.

The paramedic chuckled and grabbed some gauze.

*********************************

Elijah was sat on the couch with Muffin, having just gotten off the phone with Fleur.

"Hey, is she okay?" Reid walked into the living room, putting his satchel on.

"She's just fine." Elijah nodded, looking up at Reid,"Are you going somewhere?"

"I'm going to head to Gideon's cabin. Hotch suggested I try going there." Reid told him,"You wanna come?"

"I would, but I have to finish some paperwork here. Sorry." Elijah shook his head.

He did in fact have some paperwork, but it wasn't that much. He just didn't want to go after Gideon.

"Yeah, that's fine. I'll be back soon." Reid kissed Elijah's head.

"I'll wait up for you." Elijah smiled softly.

"Sleep." Reid pointed.

"But you said you'd be back soon."

"It takes a while to drive to the cabin."

Elijah sighed,"Fine. I'll try and get some sleep."

"Thank you."

"Drive safe." Elijah pointed.

"Yes sir." Reid saluted.

"I love you."

"And I love you."

Elijah smiled at Reid as he walked out of the door, holding Muffin.

*********************************

After many hours, Elijah heard the front door to the house open. Elijah got up, wandering to the bedroom door. He had tried to sleep but had been... Unsuccessful. Downstairs was quiet, but light footsteps could be heard going towards the living room.

Elijah rubbed his eyes, heading down the stairs. There he saw the back of Reids head, looking down as he sat on the couch.

"Spencer?"

Reid lifted his head, turning to look at him,"Did I wake you?"

"I couldn't sleep." Elijah shook his head as he walked over.

Reid sighed,"I... He's gone."

"Gone?" Elijah blinked.

"Gideon... He left."

"Oh, I'm sorry.." Elijah sat beside Reid.

Of course he felt horrible for his boyfriend, he looked up to Gideon but.. Elijah was glad, almost. He wouldn't need to be scared of being himself at work.

"All he left was these letters, his badge and his gun."

"He didn't even say goodbye?" Elijah wrapped his arms around Reid.

Reid shook his head as he leaned back into his boyfriend.

"I'm sorry, baby." Elijah sighed.

Reid closed his eyes,"I just wanted to talk to him."

"I know you did, it's not your fault."

Reid sighed, clenching the papers in his hand.
