Bank heist!
=

I froze, along with everyone else in the building.

The duo, a couple most likely, started barking orders, repeating what they said again when nobody moved the first time. "Everyone on the ground! If you got money, take it out and raise it over your head!" Everyone, even the cops dropped to the ground, and I also complied.

I looked around to try and see what I could do about this, but it looked pretty bad.

"You! Girl on the ground. You got money?" The man pointed his gun in my face.

I tensed. "No.." I said carefully.

I felt a sharp kick to my side, and I flinched, looking up with a wince. "Ow.. what.."

"I don't believe you! Gimme your money or I'll shoot you dead right now and take it anyways!" He pressed his gun a little harder in my face, making his point.

"Look.. I only got like twenty dollars.." I said hesitantly, but he didn't care.

"Give it to me! I don't care how much you got, give it all!"

I grimaced but slowly reached in my pocket and pulled out my twenty dollar bill and my three ones, and raised it above my head.

The man snatched it, and walked away with it.

I fumed silently. Who robs a bank at 11 am in the morning!

I watched the man and woman in turn, take all the money from the other people on the ground, then demand money from the bank tellers.

Why haven't they called the police yet? Heck, why isn't the two cops here doing something?!

My hands closed into fists.
This is wrong, and I need to do something about it.
I carefully thought out a plan. I couldn't just go in and try to knock them out, I'd get shot for sure.

Soft sobs sounded from a woman near me, making me grimace.
She was gonna draw attention to us and I wouldn't be able to-

"Shut your mouth." The girl walked over hissed at the woman, kicking her shoulder to make a point.

The woman only sobbed harder.
"Shh.." I hushed anxiously to her.

The woman quieted for a moment. And I breathed in relief.

The girl walked away to go help pile money into bags.

Ah ha. I seized the moment their back was turned, and got to my feet.
I silently approached behind them, and then froze as I realized everyone was staring at me, save the robbers.
I glared at them all, trying to make them look away, but it was too late.
The man looked behind and lunged, and I did a practiced judo flip, grabbing the man's arm and flipping him onto his back with a grunt.
I reached for his gun.
His lady, unfortunately, was also quite quick, and put a gun to my head.
"Don't.. move." She hissed.

I froze as demanded, my hand reaching for the gun paused in motion. The man below me groaned and got up, pushing me over onto the ground. I huffed as I hit it, and the man punched me in anger.
"Ah.. ow. Mad I got you huh..?" I taunted.

"Shut it you little worm! You're lucky my girl doesn't put a bullet right through your skull." He pulled my glasses away from my face, no doubt thinking I was blind without them, and dropped them to the floor, crushing them under his shoe. I gasped.

"Dude!"

"Ha. Try pulling that again." The man scoffed, and they left me alone again.

I scoffed, fuming.
He just broke my dam READING GLASSES!

I'll give it to him. It would've kept me down if I were actually blind.
But, he misjudged me.

I rose to my feet again, not really having a plan in mind, but this had to end.

I took a step forward, however suddenly loud sirens of police cars echoed off the buildings outside, and the couple looked back to the door, seeing me up, again.
I groaned in my mind. Ah for the love of-
"You just can't stay down can you? What do you have? A death threat?" The man hissed, pointing his gun at me.

The sirens got louder, and I didn't respond. The man cursed.

"Love, we gotta fly. Cops are after us." The two piled as much money as they could into their bags, and started for the door.

"Hey!" I yelled.

The woman turned, glaring. "What."

"Oh nothing. Just distracting you." I smirked, and the cops burst into the building, immediately tacking the two.

They pinned the crook couple to the ground, yelling orders while the pair struggled and fought back.

The bystanders slowly got up, watching the scuffle as the guns for forcefully torn from the crooks hands and taken away, and handcuffs clicking around their wrists.
The two cursed at everything and everyone.

They were taken away to the cars outside, and a few cops stayed back to take statements.

"Ma'am, are you alright?" A cop asked, approaching me.
"Yeah.. although they smashed my reading glasses." I said pointing at my crushed eyewear.
"And took my 23 dollars.." I added with a sigh.

Several other bystanders also were giving testimonies and I noticed a few pointing at me, which made me want to leave.
"So anyways.. can I go home? I gotta go to work.." I added sheepishly.

The cop nodded, writing on his notepad. "Alright. And what is your name ma'am?"

"Percy Jackson..." I responded hesitantly.

He waved me away. "You can go, miss Jackson." I nodded thankfully, and scurried out of the bank.

The whole situation was quite embarrassing, really. I had failed to stop anything and probably only made it worse, and I got my convert-to-Ancient-Greek glasses broken.

At least I had finished my business at the bank and wouldn't have to go back for a while.

I did the little walk back to the shop in shame, excited to get in the shower and heal the bruises I could already feel forming under my clothes.
