Nancy ran from the gang members chasing her. Her once red hair smeared and caked with dirt glued to her pale and freckled forehead by the harsh rain. She stumbled into an alley, back on the wall she slid down, bringing her knees to her chest her hands on her face as she sobbed. She had turned 18 a few months ago, but last week her now-known adoptive parents threw her out on the street saying how she was a nuisance and a devil child that only brought suffering. She heard that her real father died when she was young, her mother died at birth, or so it seems. She had been running for a week, clothes now in tatters. She sat there crying for what seemed like hours until a hand was placed on her shoulder, she jumped straight into the air ,her face showing weary-ness.

"Hey, are you ok?" a mysterious voice asked,

Nancy dried her eyes with the palms of her hand, she looked at the people in front of her, there was a girl with blonde hair and grey eyes, a boy with black hair and Sea-Green eyes, and another boy this one with brown eyes and and brown hair trucked under a rasta cap. Recognition flashed across her features and she cringed at her 6th grade self's behavior. The boy in the middle, the black haired one, offered her a hand which she gratefully took.

"Was I being too loud?" she said barely above a whisper,

"No!" The grey-eyed girl exclaimed, "We wanted to see what was wrong,"

"M-my adoptive parents threw me out a week ago saying I was a devil child and a nuisance." she replied trying not to cry.

'Tell us your name, then we'll take you to this camp we go to, you'll be safe there," The brown-eyed boy replied,

"Nancy," she closed her eyes and looked down, "Bobofit,"

She couldn't meet Percy or Gover eye to eye, and she was scared of the blonde girl, so she settled for staring at the ground. Again she found a hand on her shoulder, she looked up it was Grover,

"I'm so so so so so so sorry, Grover, I'm sorry Percy, my parents were going to throw me out then and I had no idea what to do and and an-" she started crying again,

Grover cut her off with a hand, she wiped her eyes with the heel of her hand,

"It's fine Nancy, we forgave you along time ago, besides I like peanut-butter, just not with ketchup or in my hair!" Nancy gave between a sob and a chuckle, another thing her adoptive mother did to spite her, she never ate her lunch, she just made it look like it.

'Follow us my car is over here," the girl said,

"Umm, I never caught your name," Nancy said to the girl,

"Chase. Annabeth Chase," She said,

"Well Annabeth, I just would like to say thank-you." Nancy said while clambering into the car along with them,

They rode in sweet silence to Half-Blood Hill.

And Nancy found that she was a daughter of Hecate
