"Richard and Cindy?" Cory asked, watching the said pair make out in the hall with his two best friends by his side.

"Very deeply in love." Shawn replied, leaning against the locker behind him.

Cory looks at him with confusion. "Since when?"

"Lunch." Shawn responded.

"What did they eat?" Cory questioned in a joking tone.

"I don't know, but it looks like it wasn't enough." Shawn answered as the couple in the hall continued to make out.

Gwen didn't understand how the two could make out in public. Especially in the middle of the hallway where anyone and everyone could watch. Mr. Feeny walks down the steps and over to the trio. "Ah, Mr. Heckle, and Mr. Jeckle, don't we have classes to attend?"

"Mr. Feeny, shouldn't you break them up or hose them down or something?" Cory gestured to the couple still making out.

Mr. Feeny looks at the couple. "Oh, I wouldn't want to interrupt their tryst, Mr. Matthews. They're both A-minus students and happily struck by cupid."

"So if they were C-minus students, you wouldn't let them kiss?" Cory asked Mr. Feeny, who looked back at him.

"School policy, don't you know?" Mr. Feeny said.

Cory points at himself. "So I can't kiss?"

"With your grades, Mr. Matthews, you can't even shake hands." Mr. Feeny told him.

"Just watch, Mr. Feeny. By the end of the year, I plan to have a A-plus average and a hickey." Cory spoke with determination.

Mr. Feeny pats his shoulder. "Dare to dream, Mr. Matthews." He left the trio and that's when Gwen spotted another couple making out nearby.

"Holy cow." Cory said with a wide-eyed look on his face. Gwen assumed that he saw the other couple. "Jerry and Shoshana?"

"Deeply." Shawn nodded.

"Has the whole world paired off?"

"Pretty much." Shawn answered Cory's question.

"Well, beside us." Gwen reminded the boys and they nodded in agreement.

"Is there a list posted somewhere where I find out what girl has been assigned to me?" Cory inquired.

Shawn glances at him with amusement. "You want a girlfriend?"

"No, not a girlfriend." Cory shakes his head. "Just a girl who's like a friend, but not a girlfriend." He points at Gwen when he noticed the look of disgust on her face. "You're like a sister to me, G. I'm not talkin' about you."

"Oh, okay," Gwen lets out a sigh of relief. "Good."

Shawn notices a blonde-haired girl passed them. "How about her? How about the new girl?"

"No." Cory shakes his head, quickly replying. "I mean, I don't know her." When Gwen and Shawn looked at him with amusement he sent them a glare. "Shut up. I want someone I know. Someone who knows me. Someone who we know each other. Someone, like, uh..." A familiar blonde-haired girl walks down the steps causing him to go over to her. "Topanga!"

Topanga stops walking, turning to face Cory who wrapped his arm around her shoulders. "Topanga. My honey. May I call you honey?"

"No." Topanga replied and Cory took his arm off her.

"Topanga...My girl. My friend. My girlie friend." Cory continues and Topanga looks at him weirdly. "Believe me, I don't want this anymore than you do, but everybody around here is pairing off. And I think you and I should spare ourselves a lot of uncoolness and walk through life together."

"Cory, my dear little butthead." Topanga said, looking at him a smile. "May I call you butthead?"

Cory shrugs. "Sure."

Topanga shakes her head. "I can't walk through life with you."

Cory furrows his eyebrows and frowns. "Is there someone else?"

"There's everybody else." Topanga nodded.

"Why?" Cory wraps his arm around her shoulders again. "We're already standing together, and we look great." He smiles while Topanga just looks at him weirdly. He looks back at her and sighs, taking his arm off her. He moves to stand in front of her. "Oh, come on. Work with me here."

"Cory, when guys and girls go out first they fall passionately in love. Then after a week they hate each other. So for one great, passionate week we'd lose a friendship that could last a lifetime." Topanga explained.

What she said was a reason why Gwen didn't want to have feelings for her best friend Shawn yet she does anyway. And they're only growing with each day. It sucks.

"I'm in if you are." Cory shrugged.

Topanga puts a hand on his shoulder, sympathetically smiling at him. "Cory, don't worry. I'm sure there's someone out there for you." Cory sighed as she walked away.

"Give me a name!" Cory calls out to her and walks back over to where Gwen and Shawn were standing nearby. "For the record, I dumped her."

Gwen couldn't help the laugh that escapes her lips, knowing something like that wasn't possible. "Yeah, okay."

Shawn nods. "That's how I saw it."

****

"Well, Duben's out sick again." Shawn noticed.

The trio were now in health class. A class that Gwen dreaded. Beside math, it was her least favorite class. "Health teacher sick again?" Cory asked. He was sat on the desk beside the left of Shawn's desk in the back row. For Health class the trio sat in the back row with Cory, Shawn, and then Gwen.

"Not a lot of credibility." Cory voiced.

"I wonder what kind of creepy substitute we got today." Shawn wondered out loud.

"Not all subs are bad." Gwen said, shrugging her shoulders.

Shawn nods and glances at her. "That's true. But the ones that we do get are either awful or creepy or both."

When the door to the classroom opens the trio looks over, surprised to see a curly haired beautiful woman walk in. "Wow." Cory commented.

"That is no substitute." Shawn shakes his head with a wide-eyed expression. "That is the real deal." He closed his textbook before he picked it up and his binder and moved to the desk in the front row that was right in front of where the substitute stood. Cory sat down at his desk when the substitute spoke.

"Good afternoon, class. I'm Ms. Kelly." The substitute introduces herself, smiling at the class. "I'll be filling in for Mr. Duben for the next few days."

Shawn stands up. "On behalf of the entire class, I'd like to say stay as long as you like."

Ms. Kelly ignores him, looking at the papers she held. "Now, right now, you seem to be covering-"

"CPR," Shawn interrupts her. "And I'm today's dummy."

"More like you're a dummy everyday." Gwen mumbled.

Ms. Kelly tilts her head to the side as she looks at Shawn. She shakes her head. "No. Actually, we seem to be up to human reproduction which I hope we can discuss in a mature fashion."

Some students in the class giggles and Shawn looks back at them. "Oh, stop being so young." He looks at Ms. Kelly with a smile. "You know, I'm not as young as they are. I've stayed back, like, fifty times."

Ms. Kelly slowly nods. "Really? How old are you?"

"Twenty-four?" Shawn replied but it sounded more like a question.

"Really? What are you doing in a seventh grade classroom?" Ms. Kelly asked him.

"I'm a cop." Shawn responded.

Ms. Kelly looks at him, clearly unimpressed. "Sit down."

"Alright, but...I'm watching you." Shawn pointed at her and sat down.

"Alright, who can tell us the name of the organ where the eggs are stored?" Ms. Kelly inquires, walking over to Shawn. "Officer?"

"Sorry, Ms. Kelly, I don't have that stuff." Shawn responds. "I can name the stuff I have. Or at least what I call them."

Ms. Kelly turns to Cory. "Alright, the name of the place where the eggs are stored?"

"What are the gonads?" Cory guessed.

"No, sorry." Ms. Kelly apologizes. "I was looking for, 'what are the ovaries''."

Cory nods. "Oh, the-oh yeah, I always mix those two up."

"Try not to. Your future will be brighter. Can you tell us anything about ovulation or how pregnancy occurs?"

"Well, the man's got the sperm, and the woman's got the egg. Now once a month, an egg slides down the Philippine tube towards the uterus. The first sperm to reach the egg wins." Cory explains. "It gets a medal, it's born, you name him Cory, you push him out the door, and nothing makes sense for the rest of his life."

Ms. Kelly chuckles. "Well, congratulations. You seem to have a thorough understanding of the life cycle."

Cory outstretches his arms and smiles. "Hey, I live it."

Ms. Kelly goes to walk back to the front of the classroom. "Any questions?"

Cory raises his hand, and she stops walking, looking back at him upon seeing he had his hand raised. "Yes?"

Cory lowers his arm, gesturing for her to come closer and she does until she's standing right beside his desk. She bends down to his height and Cory leans closer to her, whispering, "How do you get a girl to say hi?"

****

"Michael and Lisa-Marie?" Cory asked, watching the pair walk by him and his two best friends.

Shawn nods. "It looks like it."

"Since when?"

"Just now." Shawn replies to Cory. "That was it."

"Yeah, Cor." Gwen chimes in. "Pay attention."

"What, that?" Cory furrowed his eyebrows, shaking his head.

Shawn nods. "Yeah, you saw it happen."

"I can't believe it." Cory groans, leaning against the wall behind him. "I saw it happen and I still don't know how it happens."

"Stop obsessing, man." Shawn tells him. "You're going to pope a lobe."

"You're right." Cory nods, getting off the wall he was leaning on. "I should relax. The coupling thing, it's just a phase. I mean, how long can it last, a few weeks?"

"Yeah, the cafeteria's right down here."

Gwen looks over to her left upon hearing her uncle's voice. Her eyes widened when she saw Ms. Kelly walking beside him. "They know me there." Jonathan said to Ms. Kelly and smiles. "I'll get us a good table."

"You would do that for me?" Ms. Kelly asked as the two walked by the trio.

"Oh, yeah." Jonathan nods. "I'm very tight with Bertha, the lunchroom lady. Yeah, I once rescued a dolphin from her haircut."

Gwen watched them walk off to the cafeteria with a wide-eyed expression. "I can't believe my uncle is flirting with our Health substitute." She shivers, shaking her head. "Gross."

Shawn chuckles at her and pats her shoulder sympathetically. "Okay, maybe it'll last a few years." Cory spoke. They each looked to their right when they hear Mr. Feeny talk.

"Yes, I'm acting Principal now." Mr. Feeny explains, walking down the hallway with an older woman who looked to be around his age. "And the pressuring would be daunting for a man half my age. Fortunately, I have a vitality that belies my years."

When the two of them walk away, Cory turns to his two best friends with an upset expression. "I'm the only one who doesn't know how it's done."

"Listen, I think I found something that kind of works." Shawn spoke.

Gwen looks at him curiously along with Cory. "What?" Cory asked him.

"This." Shawn ran his fingers through his dark colored hair and Gwen hated the way her stomach did flips when he did that. Sure, Shawn did that with his hair all the time, but it wasn't until after she watched that video in the sixth grade did she realize how attractive the boy is and how she's starting to have feelings for him.

A red-haired girl across the hallway looks over at him and waves. "Hi, Shawn." Shawn smiled and waved back at her.

"Wow." Cory smiles. "From across the hall."

"Yep." Shawn nods. "I got a thirty-foot range."

"What, you just jerk your head?" Cory asked him.

"Watch again." Shawn tells him. "I'm still young enough I can do this twice in a row." This time he ran both his hands through his hair. Gwen ignored the butterflies swarming in her stomach, but it was hard to ignore the fact that she felt her face heat up. She really needed to get better at hiding her feelings for him.

A brunette-haired girl from the left side of the hallway walks over to them. "Shawn, it's so strange. I was just thinking about you."

The girl intertwined her hand with Shawn's and he smirks at Cory. "And that's without conditioner." He then walked off the brunette-haired girl beside him.

Cory turns to face Gwen, looking at her with a bit of concern and confusion. "You okay, G? It looked like you were a little red a few seconds ago."

"Yeah," Gwen forces a smile, hoping Cory would buy her lie. "I'm fine."

Unfortunately, he didn't buy it. He looks at her with furrowed eyebrows. "You sure? Lately, you've been acting a little differently with Shawn around. It started happening after that video we watched in sixth grade that changed everything."

His eyes widen in realization. "Wait, you have feelings for Shawn!"

Gwen feels her face heat up more and she glances around them, noticing some students were looking their way because of Cory raising his voice. She nervously smiles at them before she looks at Cory with a glare. "Shut up, will ya? I don't want everyone at school to know that. Especially Shawn."

Cory looks at her with confusion. "Why not?" He smiles. "I think you two would be great together."

"Thanks, Cor." Gwen smiles a bit. She sighs and shakes her head. "But I just don't want him to know. At least not yet. It's clear that he doesn't have any feelings for me and would rather much spend time with literally any other girl."

Cory sends her a sympathetic smile. "Sorry, G."

Gwen sighs. "It's alright." She shrugs, smiling a bit as she flipped her brunette hair that was in a side pony tail behind her right shoulder. "I'm fine with just being his best friend." Part of her was lying and part of her meant it. She wanted to be something more with Shawn, but for now she's okay with being his best friend.

"Hi."

Gwen turns around when she heard someone talking to her and an awe-struck look formed on her face upon seeing the very cute boy. An unfamiliar boy was standing behind her, looking at her with a kind smile. He has hair golden like the sun and he had beautiful hazel eyes. His eyes were what drew her in.

"Um, I'm new here and I was wondering if you could help me find the principal's office?"

Gwen snaps out of her gaze when she realized she was staring, and she knew by the way she felt her cheeks get warm that she was blushing. She smiles at the boy in front of her. "Yeah, of course, follow me. I'm Gwen, by the way."

"Nice to meet you, Gwen. I'm Kamden." The blonde-haired boy introduced himself, following Gwen to the Principal's office.

****

"Nobody told me about this girl thing." Cory complains as he walks into the kitchen with Gwen and Shawn. "I mean, no one warned me. I thought they were just there, I didn't know they were interactive."

"You'll get the hang of it." Shawn assured him.

"Hey, Shawnie, I guess you don't know if your trick works on guys, do ya?" Gwen asked.

Shawn looks at her with furrowed eyebrows. "No. Uh, why?"

"A guy came over to me when I flipped my hair over my shoulder." Gwen shrugged, acting as if it wasn't a big deal.

Shawn looks at her, his eyes widened slightly. "Wait, what guy?"

"His name is Kamden. He just moved here from Texas." Gwen replies, her lips forming into a smile. "He's nice."

"I don't like him." Shawn immediately said.

Gwen chuckles, sending Cory a thankful smile when the curly-haired boy handed her a soda. "You haven't even met the guy yet."

"Yeah, whatever." Shawn rolled his eyes.

"You see? Your trick worked for Gwen also, but not me. It's easy for you guys." Cory pouts. "Your hair moves."

"There's other techniques." Shawn told him.

This got Cory's interest. "Like what?"

"I don't know," Shawn shrugs. "I just do hair."

Gwen and Shawn follows Cory into the living room. "Yeah, but where do I get a technique?"

"Ask your brother," Shawn suggests. "He's got the boom."

"You know what? Let's just forget this whole subject. There are a million other things to do in the world. I mean, we're too young to worry about finding mates." Cory voiced.

"You're right," Shawn agrees and then gets off the couch, walking towards the door. "See ya."

Gwen looks at him with furrowed eyebrows and sat the soda she held on the coffee table. She stands up, walking to the other side of the couch. She raises her eyebrows at him and crosses her arms. "Where you goin', Shawnie?"

"Off to meet girls." Shawn sets the soda he held on the coffee table before he got to the door. "I've got a thirty-foot range." He opened the door and ran his fingers through his dark colored hair.

"Is that you, Shawn?" A girl across the street questioned.

Gwen rolls her eyes, flipping her side pony tail behind her shoulder since it was bothering her being on her shoulder. She looked outside when she saw a brunette-haired boy across the street she recognized was from her math class wave at her. "Gwen, is that you?"

Cory glares at the two of them, pushing his best friends out of the house. "You two, get out."

A/N kamden has been introduced, yay :) i promise that he's actually really nice ! i mean, it's obvious he will be nice bc he's going to be lucas' dad & we all know that lucas has a heart of gold & is a gentleman, he gets those traits from his dad. but anyway, i love the trio of cory, gwen & shawn so much already !
