The girl flops down on the hotel bed, feeling the puffy comforter practically swallow her up. She lies there for a few moments before straightening up rapidly, smiling mildly as she grabs the pamphlet that reads RULES on it in fancy cursive and starts reading.

By the time she's finished reading, she's no longer smiling.

"... weird. I guess one of the hotel staff members is a prankster," she hums at last, placing it back where she'd picked it up off of delicately.

Not even five seconds pass before she's picking up the small, black camera that she'd placed next to it, beginning to flip through all of the pictures she'd been taking all day (without flash, of course-- the hotel manager scares her, so she'd avoided taking any pictures with flash in order to avoid him). 

Most of them seem pretty innocuous. In fact, most of them are pretty innocuous. All of them are pretty innocuous.

All except for one.

It looks harmless enough at first. Just a picture of the grand hotel lobby, with the 15-foot-tall ceiling and the chandelier and the beautifully wallpapered walls, and the historical artifacts neatly placed at creative intervals within the lobby.

But there. Right in the spot where the staircase's door, with the 'OUT OF ORDER, PLEASE USE ELEVATOR' sign hanging haphazardly off of the doorknob, is slightly open.

There's a gray shadow in the doorway.
