She hung from the cliff, my hand the only thing still keeping her alive. From down below, her body looked suspended, only falling slowly towards her imminent death.
"I-I can't— y-you're slipping!" I breathed heavily. I didn't want to drop her, I really didn't — but I knew it was going to happen, whether I liked it or not.
"I-it's okay!" She yelled back up at me. A slight smile graced her lips despite the situation. "I trust you," she called up. Through the whipping of the wild wind, just begging me to drop her, I barely heard it. Her words came as a surprise to me. Shocked, my personality flipped from the previously displayed innocence. I let out a low, mocking laugh, slowly getting louder. Soon I was cackling, and that small, so very trusting, smile of hers faltered.
"How can you trust me when I can't even trust myself?"
And she fell.
